Obama said in 2008 "Both parties have monkeyed around." Guess he must be a racist.

I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to throw a flag on this post.

Obama is not President. Obama did not make the comment. Obama not the issue.

If you want to discuss DeSantis' context of the words he used fine. But don't drag Obama into something he wasn't a part of.

over ruled

The poster was simply giving context to the usage of the word.

It is very much important step in establishing an opinion.

I put forth the argument that blacks are not animals of any kind and any outrage over such is just a tactic used to discredit peoples characters.

Q. Is it standard practice to get outraged over something that is a false statement in the first place?

S+F, anyone taking this out of context must have a "dash" of "racism", because they immediately focus on that aspect.

This is a truth many need to face.

At the least people that do that are race baiters constantly looking for their fix of emotional outrage.

How does recognizing racism, make one racist?

Breaking News! Obama is racist too!

I'm pretty sure we all know how racist Obama is without scouring the web for him using the term "monkey".

I understand to point of the thread is less about Obama and more about verbiage, I just read the title and thought, well duh.

There is a mountain of other examples during Hussein and Michael's time in office that prove he, his family, and his inner circle are racist.

One of the main reasons he will be remembered by those on the right side of history as the "Divider in Chief".

Funny I could say the same thing about natives and decedents of certain countries / continents.

It's not violence!

It's Heritage!

No, he used the same term, in the same way, with the same meaning, and it was fine.

We are getting into the "well he did it too" or Tu Quoque fallacy.

The fact that Obama did say it is irrelevant to the current discussion.

In this case, it could only count as Whataboutism if it was racism when Obama said it.

Hyper-sensitivity for linking stereotypes and assumptions is weaponizing language to gain power or advantage. It has nothing to do with actual and factual racism. There needs to be an actionable instance for racism to be charged. There must be loss for court-provable racism to be punished by law, not feelings.

But, Obama didn't suggest that electing a man, who happens to be black, would "monkey it up".

Yeah, there's a big difference. And if he was so stupid as to not realize that was an inflammatory remark, he's probalby too stupid to be one of our leaders. No tears. Let's move on.

Screaming “Whataboutism” is whining and deflection, not an argument.

Leave it to fact-deniers to dismiss the Importance and value of pointing out precedents and hypocrisy.

I wonder what is going to happen to all the people who hate socialism when everything is automated and there are no more jobs. We are going to have to help each other out, it won' t be for like 30 years or something but it is going to happen.
