Same reason we put up with stupid people. They are good to collect spoils for you.

Religion is the preference of "the man" and he actively despises theism amongst the people.

The "don't ask questions" cultural bullshat that has no connection to God, only to manipulative men who choose to claim what God wants is exactly what they wanted.

If you know the name Estus Pirkle, you probably understand how sad religion is. It's all based on childhood brainwashing of what should be, on a cultural level, not a dimensional understanding. I dare you to watch a Estus Pirkle movie without getting depressed. It shows who religious leaders truly are: angry defensive kids who worship the rules of their parents household til they die.

Just like the KKK claiming the Bible is talking about them when it mentions the persecuted. Its what they want, not what's real.

Dear OP.
I think you're confusing some elements in your post there, but it's understandable.

Religion is one thing, its practices are a bit of a different thing, and what people do is yet another story.

If you look at most teachings of most religions, you'll see they ultimately preach peace, love and respect between humans, between genders, and even towards the animals or nature. Is there something bad there? not as far as i know.

what people do IN THE name of their religion is what worries you, i believe, as it worries me. Religions somehow birthed these radicals that think that whatever they believe in MUST be the absolute truth and everyone who doesnt share their beliefs is wrong and should either change their views on the spot or die.

also saying stuff like "if a woman is not a virgin on her wedding night, she's a bad follower of her religion" or "if you [don't] eat (insert food name here) it means you're a bad worshiper" is something that doesn't really have a connection to religion. :/

i too think that circumcision, certain hairstyles, or various other practices have no place in the context of religion. extremists also have nothing in common with religion..

however, i do think we need religion or a set of beliefs that makes us and the world better, more than ever before. we have too many wars going on, too much poverty, pornography [i personally don't like to turn on the TV and see naked women simulating sex in music videos], and overall hate going on.

i hope my post managed to shed some light on the topic, at least for those lurking. [and if i repeated what other said, sorry, i had no time to read the whole thread].

The best way to fight stupid, is to call them out on their BS. They have freedom of speech just like we do. Tolerate them, sure, don't oppress them.
Counter their ignorance by focusing on facts and their position will continue to decline in numbers as it has been for a while now. It's only a matter of time before religious politicians in positions of power start going the way of the dodo.

Religion is a tool for spiritual beings inhabiting a human form to merge their formed identities. Individuals that seek religion are at the stage of development in which outer forces are felt to be needed to achieve freedom, salvation.

In this game, anytime you wish to seek to gain strength over something undesirable, you actively seek the opposite. The nurturing and balancing force of the Divine One can break down any form of illusion, no matter how profound.

i.e., You feel guilty because you realize you have been lazy. You seek to overcome that laziness by going for a jog 5 days a week. Eventually the guilt becomes less prominent because the choice to overcome laziness was made consistently.

It's in the hands of the individual.

Religion takes people away from spirituality, for spirituality is not experienced 'collectively' in THIS level of the game. Thus, religions grant the individual the ability to detach from what they do not want.

I believe in the God of war. I'm not sure what to think of that sucking the cut foreskin of a baby's penis though. It's nothing I ever did before.

I do not mind religious folk as long as they do not attempt to push it on me or my own.
It is dying off over in the UK anyhow so that's good.
Give it a few hundred years most will believe in God but have no man made religion, how it should be.

I'm fairly sure Christianity was created by some dude witnessing another dude being tortured by a group of Romans and then wrote a bunch of good morals that he wanted to see the Romans change about their lives and eventually the Roman empire collapsed due to over extension. But the Roman empire took advantage of this religious thing and created the Papacy so that the Roman empire could keep hold of it's territory. Which of course, it did.

There is a lot of things I don't like about Christianity and a lot of things I don't like about Islam.
First of all they are all the same bloody thing. God, Allah, Flying spaghetti monster.

Funerals are a scam... think about it.
Do you really need to give the church $5000+ to honor someones live? You're causing deforestation making coffins, where it's cheaper and greener to plant a tree over them with a plaque like I intend to do when I'm gone and I hope a lot of people do the same. Graveyards take up too much land and this is entirely the Papacies fault. Just because the body is sealed inside a tomb doesn't stop it decomposing, just bury me under a tree so I can give life to something else seeing as I'm not having children myself.

People aren't given any freedom to believe in what they want to believe and end up following Christianity or Islam because they were either forced to or because of peer pressure. You have your own beliefs so believe in what helps you. I don't accept anyone else's religion and when people preach or try to convert me that's where I draw a red line.
The reason we exist is because of the sun, that's it. The sun and my parents banging was the reason I'm here and that's who I have to be grateful for.

Probably because it extends the courtesy of enormous peace of mind for some.

Because you don't have a choice whether to tolerate it or not. You can act like the left-wing typically does on every other issue it is powerless to affect/stop/cause/etc, or you can maturely accept the fact that someone else's beliefs are going to be their beliefs and that it isn't your place to try to change that. Whether it is religion, politics, culture, the words I choose to use (without your consent or approval) or whatever else...the World would be a much better place if everyone took this advice: BUT OUT

If some could start minding their own business, especially where religion is concerned, there'd be a whole lot less issues. If you don't want to say Merry Christmas, don't say it. I know I sure will be this year. And I say "In God We Trust" or "One Nation Under God" proudly

Again, anyone who doesn't like it should invest in ear plugs.

If what you say is true (it could very well be) then I say it is a good thing. Given how degenerate, immoral, corrupt, criminal and generally undesirable our civilization has become, I think anyone would be hard pressed to claim more religion would be a bad thing

Basically anything other than how things are now could only be an improvement

In a sports arena, everyone's energy comes together in a shared euphoric experience.

Any congregation (group) of people who get together sharing same thought energy will have a euphoric experience.

It's not God.

Circe was an ancient Greek goddess who could hypnotize men, bring them into her house, and turn them into animals -- taking their minds away, so that they could support and feed her. She was known as "Mother Circe," and her worship was brought to medieval Scotland, in whose language Circe became "Kirk." The Scottish word "Kirk" becomes "Church" in English. Where else have we seen the word "Kirk?" Ah yes, we have "Captain Kirk" taking mankind where it has never gone before ...... with the U.S.S. Enterprise:

We know that churches are money-making corporations / "enterprises." Is this why churches and money are both divided into "denominations?"---Jordan Maxwell www.jordanmaxwell.com...

And as it relates to the Penis and Religion™..

Religion™ is like a Penis...

It's okay to have one and it's okay to be proud of it,

HOWEVER

Do NOT pull 'it' out in public;
Do NOT push it on children;
Do NOT write laws with 'it';
Do NOT think with 'it'....

Why do we as a people tolerate non belief of religion?

It is like a double edged sword. It cuts both ways and tolerance is the only logical option.

Thing is when religion does not wish to tolerate another religion it tends to complicate the whole affair of tolerance towards all religion.

Hypocritical bastards the whole shower of them really, but each to there own, i just cannot be arses listening to one or another of the religious types bump on about persecution, because that what religion does.

That being marginalise and persecute anyone and everything that does not fit in to there Gods tiny little box(or book).

from the angle of when are people, all people going to wise up and just be done with all this ancient, crazy, fairy tale #.

Faith is when you do not need proof to believe, and people have faith. I think you also feel that 7 billion people are all 2018 modern and I would not even put 1 billion in that bucket that leaves over 6 billion faithful followers...lol

On a side note...is there anything you believe in that has zero physical proof? If you say nothing you are far from the norm.
