So in your gaming of this, you see nothing but wins for Kim?

The reality is that this is bad for Trump. If he does not go, then it will be claimed that he passed up a chance for peace with North Korea.

If he goes and nothing is done, then it will be that the man is not the great negotiator, and just like any other politician out there, full of hot air and no action.

If he goes and it ends badly, Trump broke the armistice and restarted the Korean conflict up again, after all of these years.

If he goes and then there is a treaty to end the Korean conflict, that would be the defining moment. Anything else would be a blotch.

You're kidding, right!? Diplomacy is bad!!?? Sheesh, Trump could never win in your mind. The Dems were catatonic about Trump starting WW3 with N Korea. So, now Trump is using diplomacy and you still think it's bad. You can't have it both ways.

There is no gaming in this, and looking at history, the way the countries respond and react, along with the leaders, what all they do and have done, it makes sense.

Trump stepped into this fully without any thought or advise. And for better or worse, the USA is in it.

North Korea has this as a win. No matter how it goes, Kim is getting what he wants out of this. And it is this kind of a gesture that ultimately will keep his military happy and the people of North Korea thinking that he is credible leader.

Either way this plays into the favor of North Korea. If the USA does not show up, the propaganda that will be sent to North Korea, is that the USA was afraid to show up and talk. To the rest of the world, the US is a bully. And they can turn to China and use that as reason for the Chinese government to continue to back them. They can state they did try to sit down with the USA.

If the US shows up, it is a win for Kim, cause he gets his photo op and can show to the world how the US is acknowledging him as the leader of North Korea.

The real thing to worry about would be where the talks would be held. That is the biggest thing to worry about. Hence why I say it should be done in China.

This certainly would appear as theater to democrats and liberals since they could never understand diplomacy in a sense that could ever be effective. The Clintons', and Obama would usually try to use bribes for their diplomatic strategy thinking that paying off bullies will somehow get them to back down, but that has proven disastrous in the recent past and always backfires. Usually the next day after they get the cash and goods or cash the big huge check.

If history is any teacher, being first is not always the best, but being cautious is always best.

Both parties are guilty of bribing and paying off countries. The republicans are just as guilty as the democrats. Though it is often put in other ways, like say aid to another country, or a back door deal, in either case it still amounts to a bribe to push a US agenda or to get them to back off.

Sometimes it works, but mostly it backfires or has the exact opposite effect. How many dictators have both parties supported and it turned around either ended in failure?

It's the most brilliant tactics for giving diplomacy a chance in our lifetimes. There's a reason President Trump used the words "national security" when the tariffs were rolled out---Leverage.

Oh how would you know what is being done!?? lol! Trump is a fantastic negotiator. Certainly better than Obama and Hillary. And I'm sure Trump has a plan and utilizes his best personnel. He's made billions by great negotiations. You'll see, but I'm sure any positive news from the meeting will be poo poo'd by you. You've contracted the Trump hate virus.

If president Trump, pulled out a firearm, and acted as our commander in chief, the highest military rank there is, and shot Kim Jung Un, in the face, as an enemy of the United States, like any military general would when faced with their enemy who's unforgiving...

What would history say about that?

I still think this is just part of NK's strategy of stalling for time until they finish their missile program. They know we were close to a pre-emptive strike. They're playing us.

But the leaders never met face to face.

I'll send my people, you send your people was the SOP.

Trump will be on the offence/position of power.

He holds the bigger button that works.

Do or die Chubbly, don't f'k wit moi.

OMG!!!

lol.

Strategic impotence didn't work.

This news about a meeting to talk about denuclearziation... how many times does our country have to fall for their lies and bull crap?

So if for once, a president, elected to such position took advantage of their position and kill that POS dictator...

I'd vote for a Trump for life version of china's xi...

They might meet in Switzerland or somewhere neutral and it will take security on both sides to agree where, a long time.

I think after appeasement, from Truman to obama, and now facing a madder man in Trump, the regime is truly worried that they are out gunned and between a rock and a hard place.

Yeah, # could go sideways, but we still have the dick that works.

They wouldn't dare attack SOKO, they would roll over NOKO.

They been bluffing for decades, it's over now.

They're going to exploit just like they have every other time.

Shouldn't matter what NK offers. Continue the bans. Continue the embargoes. Continue to tighten the noose on everything NK touches. Drop NK to their knees. Then drop them until their faces are on the floor. Then when the people begin to coup... tighten it even further.
