A contrived boogeyman for political propaganda at the expense of us all.

.......Political crap is political crap.

I don't know what bogeyman you are talking about, however Trump is certainly one, but while he's owned, he's also a stupid big mouth, not very subtle and doesn't serve his owners so well, but I suppose he will do in the meantime.

Here is another good example at of our tax dollars at work.

www.usnews.com...

Swat-Style Raid Over Tea Leaves Headed to Court
Whether police lied about testing discarded tea leaves found in a Kansas couple's trash to get permission for a SWAT-style raid is the focus of a federal trial that gets under way Monday.

Anyone that's taken a good look at modern American society shouldn't have a problem with it.

From Ferguson to protesting private citizens running to become president to protesting 'white supremacists'.

To everday city life in urban utopias like Chicago.

If people think the cops should be dressing like Barney Fife.

They need to take their rose colored glasses off at take a good long hard look at 'Murica.

It's one thing to be, and looked like an equipped officer, it's another to look like you're outfitted for a firefight in Beirut. I've been in both professions at one point in my life, and the line between the two may be thin this day and age, but the line is distinct, and should stay as so..........

Yep
This guy hits the nail on the head about the police state:

Mr. Martino is a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve who has been mobilized three times. During his military career, he commanded an infantry platoon, company, and battalion. He was also the senior U.S. adviser to an Iraqi Army brigade. Mr. Martino has had a successful civilian career providing training, consulting, and program management services to private companies and to state and federal agency contractors. Mr. Martino presently holds a top secret security clearance."

Yikes, I mean...I love our police, I respect our Preaidents even when I wholeheartedly disagree with their policies and I am aware of growing war-time domestics threats... But demilitarizing our police was one of the few ghings Obama did that I support. It's dangerous to militarize police unless they agree to allow the people to be equipped and organized militaisticly as well (sure under certain guidlines perhaps). Otherwise, use our military for military scale events like they signed up to do. Too much risk for miltarized police to be used for extreme totalitarian purpouses.

Isn't it interesting how some try to make it sound as though the police are rolling down our streets in tanks, when that is simply not true?

Gainesville Cops Using Tank For Traffic Stops

There is no Tank in that video. The idiot who flipped off the cops is calling it one, but that does not make it one. An armored vehicle is not a tank by any stretch of the imagination.

This is a tank -

A real one would tear up the street, so no, there are none rolling down the streets.

Correct, that's an APC, it seems to be in use for routine traffic stops...they were used regularly here by police in Northern Ireland...in, 'the troubles'.

I imagine what's in that video was just an unusual coincidence. The cops were probably just returning from a scene where it protected them, the idiot flipped them off and they thought hey, lets have some fun with that jerk.

Pretty funny actually and that guy looks the fool. I often wonder if people like that know that the vast majority of us are laughing at them. I expect to see one one day where some idiot says, you can't pull me over just because you saw me smoking Crack while I was driving.

There will be more and more cases of abuse with the police militarizing themselves. They are not regulated externally or internally on its use.

The guy thought it was a tank the officer when questioned said "yeah".

Is the cop an idiot as well in your opinion?

From the link

A man from Gainesville, Florida was pulled over by a squad of Alachua County Sheriff Deputies dressed in military clothing and driving an armored vehicle.

Once on camera probably means it isn't the first time. BTW federal courts have already ruled that flipping the bird is not against the law. So it was a straight forward case of police abuse of power using military equipment.

Prepare to see more of it in the future.

Exactly.

What I meant was the SWAT folks. Traditionally they wore all Dark Blue or black. Now they dress up like they are about to do door to door CQB house clearing in Afghanistan.

But if they arnt Tactical then a regular nice polo shirt will do.

actually was not swat always trained to go in and clear hostiles in close quarter combat? s.w.a.t. stands for special weapons and tactics they are not beat cops they the ones you when all else fails and they have always used military gear. all this is doing is allowing gov to dump surplus equipment like they have done in past. obama was a fine example of a chicago politician its about what he can do for himself not the country. he stoked racial flames every chance he got .

I can explain it to you, Trump. The police exist to maintain law and order among our citizens. They cannot do that by treating the people as the enemy, waging their war on crime while committing fraud and murdering unarmed citizens.

Yeah, I'm sure that cop was not just humoring that guy and actually thought he was in a Tank.

That and really smart people run around flipping off people in law enforcement just because they can.
Geniuses in fact.

I am sure the cop also wanted to play army and show his power.

Flipping someone off smart or dumb is a first amendment right. The cop didn't care. He wanted to show his authority.

They were both immature pricks IMO, but one is heavily armed in a near invulnerable military vehicle entrusted to uphold the law and paid to do it and is intimidating civilians.

I am 100% against militarizing the police forces within the United States.

The pendulum swings.

Eventually a Democrat will be President. Democrats will control the Senate. Democrats will control the house.

That's when the #$%$ will indeed hit the fan. Gun laws will pass like ^$% through a goose and guess what? The police will be armed to the teeth.

Just like Germany. Just like Russia. Just like China. Just like Cambodia.

No thanks.

Personally I think it was funny. That guy as brave as he was acting, was likely soiling his drawers when he saw that thing in his rear view mirror.

I don't think it was "play army" as much as it was hey, look at that idiot flipping us off, wanna have some fun with him.
