They have a right to do whatever they want.

I don't have an obligation to watch or listen.

That being said, I'm done with professional sports. Yeah, I know. Some fat old guy on the internet said something. Big deal.

But there are millions of fat old men.

AND WE BUY STUFF.

I don't think anybody is upset about the protest itself, but by what it means. It's disturbing to have people with such disdain for their country amongst you. Ita like they want to believe that they're picked on and hunted. Like they want to bury their heads in the sand because finding a solution to their cultures problems is too hard. They found a scapegoat, the police and Trump, It's their falt that the biggest danger to black folks is other black folks.

Exercising your Constituional rights = having disdain for your country

Wow.

It's amazing watching you people oust yourselves.

They didn't find a "scapegoat," once again (surprise) you made that up.

You're just pissed (for some reason) that Americans can exercise their Constitutional rights.

Don't worry. When you're no longer allowed your Constituional rights, I'm sure you'll still believe that those who exercised them previously were "having disdain for their country."

Having disdain for your nation is not wanting American citizens to exercise their Constituional rights.

This is what the NFL rulebook says about the National Anthem.

The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rulebook. It states:

“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.

“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.” ........

peace

Well then the players are breaking the rules in the handbook and should be threatened with a fine. The Union approved this guideline in the last bargaining agreement.

And what are they protesting? Too many black criminals get themselves shot? (AKA violent black criminals should get to run amok)

They're protesting that Blacks are only 13% of the population, but they're forced by "the man" to commit 51% of the homicides in America.

All those protesting the nation's anthem are full of crap, I am sure that they will not waste a penny helping the causes that they supposedly are protesting in behave.

www.usatoday.com...

it makes you all so angry that people protest racism. you flood into each and every thread to deny that any racism worth protesting even exists. you're so offended that someone might think our police need retraining our departmental policies might need revised, but give the fine young nazis all the freedom of speech in the world to call for genocide and incite violence.

The team owners are just the same, they should all give one year of their millions of dollars in earnings to help what ever in hell they think they are helping while acting stupid when the nations anthem is played.

the people that goes to watch the teams they represent are there to be entertained no to hear about political views.

Repercussions will follow.

Why do they have to donate their money? What does that have to do with it?

You apparently have no clue how the constitution works.

This has nothing to do with constitutional rights. They're employed by a company and doing it on company time. NFL can end that whenever they like and it in no way violates their rights, just as your boss could fire you for kneeling in the middle of a board meeting and it too has nothing to do with constitutional rights.

Maybe they should protest 9/11, PRISM, CIA operations, FBI entrapment, how about the fractional reserve banking system....

You guys pretend like you can't be upset about more than one thing at a time. What a simpleton way of living.

"Protest police brutality,"
"WHY ARENT THEY PROTESTING THE HIGH COST OF MIIIIILK," is what you sound like.

lol... nailed it. all this dancing and jumping and obfuscation, just because people are talking about racism. you'd think nazis were marching or something. oh, wait.

My guess is that somebody is "influencing" the NFL owners and association.

The entire thing is 100% political.

Eventually we will know who's behind the whole agenda.

Soon.

That old term "the man" has it's days numbered.

As that is written, the only rule broken was teams not being on the sidelines at all, and since the owners or coaches helped lead that decision, the players have no fault.

The standing part is a should.

A should does not compel one to do so. It's an advisement but not a directive, at least from my perspective. I'm sure others could offer more clarity.

Peace

Themselves, and the backers of this agenda.

In the long run that is.

That's not entirely true.
Those homicides are committed by mostly males so that's 6.5%
Then factor in age groups taking out kids and over 45 and you're left with 3% committing 51% of homicides.

I'm referring to Donald Trump as "the man", at this point in time. Who did you have in mind?

it says 'should '

i. e. not 'must'. not all players can stand at times. due to injuries or perhaps peaceful protests or any other conditions preventing freedom of speech ...

In Chicago Black "kids" (under 21) account for a good many murders.

Just researched some of the jersey numbers
Most : Offensive linemen - get little airtime
Some : Defensive lineman and backs - get a little more airtime than the above
Rest : Under-performing players getting little to no airtime
And , no , it isnt a team effort. What ? 5 per team ?
CNN back to their usual glorified headline tactics once again...
