If Rich were killed to prevent him from leaking the documents, why did the killer not take the laptop with the documents? This is classic "fake news."

I don't think it has been established that he had the laptop with him when he was killed.
The laptop may have been taken from his home by police during the investigation of his murder.
You blindly believe anonymous sources that SAY there is a document and read it over to phone.

That is because the publication reporting the story stands to lose credibility, therefore readership, therefore money, if the source is not good. The blog publishing this "document" does not care about credibility. It stands to gain readership, therefore money, by affirming the beliefs of conspiracy theorists. Eventually, what publications like the New York Times say will see their day in court. What this blog says will never be confirmed, yet the believers will cling to it.

If he did not have the laptop, why kill him? Why not just break into his house and steal it?

Simple question.
Why would the FBI have this mans laptop?
Why would the FBI be involved in a DC street murder?
Same answer for both questions.
They wouldn't.
Hey pizza anyone I hear there's a shop ...with a basement...
