U.K. Threat level raised to critical

UK terror threat level raised to highest level of 'critical', meaning further attack may be imminent, prime minister says

This could be huge, after the Westminster attack a few months ago JTAC did not raise the level, the threat level only goes to critical where there is intelligence of a imminent attack and a danger to life.

To be clear this suggests that ther is intelligence that a further attack is imminent and the military could be deployed to high risk areas

Just seen on the BBC news there looking at deploying military alongside police. There might be another attack unfortunately.

These attacks don't normally come in pairs. So raising the level now is just to get people scared. If the system wasn't broken the threat level should have gone up before the bomb. IMO.

So just to be clear, in your opinion attacks don't come in clusters and the threat level should what, stay the same? Go down?

Not really in the UK things don't work like that, the last time they done this was 2007 after the Glasgow airport attack that was almost 10 years ago, so its not like the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre just do this on a whim.

This does actually mean that the military will be deployed on the streets of the UK

Enemy is within. No solution now.

Countries like England now will forever be in the "re-active" mode. They don't dictate the terms anymore, the enemy within does. All they can do is play catch-up but there will be more attacks and more rallies preaching unity and love.....while people lay dead in the streets.

A chilling message on Telegram, from an ISIS supporting group Yaqeen Media, said vehicle attacks will take place in the UK.

It stated: “Today we fight you on our land, and tomorrow on your land, by Allah’s permission. “Soon, the vehicle attacks will be witnessed on your streets, by Allah’s permission.”

Elsewhere on the encrypted messenger site one user said: “We hope that the perpetrator is one of the soldiers of the caliphate.”

Imo there are other ways they could use, not just vehicle attacks. I wish tptb would allow the public to know more about what info they've got to raise the threat level to "critical."

in the short term when the treat level is raised like this things change.

There will be troops deployed to protect areas believed to be under threat potentially, it raises the security at a number of places throughout the country.

I have news for Jihadists who expect to be greeted by 70 virgins on "the other side." They are in for a huge surprise. Instead of a bunch of young virgins waiting to meet them, the Jihadists will be greeted by hordes of demons who will escort them to the pits of Hell.

I'd hate to be in their shoes when they answer to the Lord.

If they cannot properly defend the border of their own country, the next best thing is to erect borders around everything within their own country.

But a 23 year old was arrested today in connection with the attack.

This is the work of a cell.
Hence the "critical" status.

"Fight"? Attacking a bunch of unsuspecting teen age girls is fighting? How many have to die before they are actually going to take steps to do something?

Actually the UK has a really good track record of thwarting these kind of attacks there is loads of stuff that goes into counter-terrorism in the UK because we are at such high risk. For example it was reported earlier this year that 13 active terrorist plots in the uk had been prevented, with something like 500 investigations.

This guy was UK born, so where the guys who killed Lee Rigby, and the guy behind the recent Westminster attack was actually a uk born Islamic convert.

Immigration is not a issue, its just that those on the right like to pretend it is after a event like this
