It's not as simple as our navy just patrols the world. Our pacific fleet is based in Pacific island nations. We could just use Samoa and Hawaii I supose but without the threat of forward bases single navy ships (all having to be nuke powered to just sail around the world without refueling) are not a threat to anyone but perhaps pirates in fishing vessels. China certainly isn't going to feel threatened because a few boats are in the region with no reinforcements.

I agree though we should start thinning these bases. BUT trump saying he is going to go back on trade agreements with China also has other issues. Like overnight inflation when the cpi skyrockets from lack of goods from china. NOT just Walmart either but supply lines for auto companies, airlines etc. CHINA obviously holds lots of us debt, and property. SO this compounds the problem.

Nothing is as simple as closing bases and imposing tarrifs, or building walls. They are all gimmicks.

Trump wants to strengthen the military which will involve increasing the already bloated military budget. I have an idea. How about we close those 800 overseas bases and just worry about defending our own borders. That would surely help reduce the strain on the budget.

That would naively assume that there is no reason for having the bases there in the first place.

It is generally strategic. To rip up the bases would create massive amounts of instability throughout the world.

The US has done immense amounts of good in the world through having its military bases in the world. We also prevent military bulid up in many countries, and create a more stable planet less likely to devolve into devastating wars, which creates more overall economic stability too.

In other words, there are reasons they are there that Mr. Trump doesn't have the capacity to understand.

Look, nobody knows everything. How this works is that the President has his advisors on all types of matter. Nobody expects Trump to know everything. Trump is a business man and because he is, he has experience in hiring the best people for the job. As president, he will bring in the most intelligent people to surround him, and to advise him.

Hillary has been a crooked politician for 30 years, and Trump (as a business man) has gotten things done. That’s just the way it is.

I thought the one of the key points was that money loaned into circulation can only be repaid with money loaned into circulation. This is what accounts for the blowout in all national debts. It effectively debt on debt.

Ultimately, all money loaned into circulation has to be repaid using more borrowed money, even through it may pass through many hands to get back to the borrower to give back to the bank.

What is a profit to one person must be more debt to someone else back down the line.
