I can choose whether I want any particular ice cream flavor.

But can you choose which you like the most?
Yes or no?

If choosing only for oneself sure, if someone is offering? Rude to have a preference... of course if someone is offering a choice? Asking their favorite of the two then choosing the other is the kinder thing to do; it leaves them more of their favorite. If they were deceitful in their answer; then their own greed just made you eat their favorite instead of spare it... unless you are of the emulative sort and your greed to be like them would want their favorite too making the choice a non choice just an imitation. Now if they knew you were the emulative sort they may deceive just so that their favorite could be spared and then say hmm maybe I'll eat the other which would secretly be their favorite. Of course the belligerent wouldn't ask your favorite... Icecream! Then you just give them whichever.

That's the difference between children and adults; yet the form doesn't dictate which status: adult or child.... only the mentality does.

or for a member of TPTB, they would ask which was your favourite then laugh while they eat them both.

I love chocolate ice cream regardless of what anyone is offering. I have no choice in that matter - chocolate ice cream is my favourite flavor.
It was not a difficult question - and the answer was not difficult either - but the mind is slippery.

No one can choose what they prefer.
'A man can do as he wills but cannot will what he wills'.

Can you choose which ice cream flavor you like the most (regardless of anything or anyone)?
Yes or no?

Though we feel that we can choose what we do, our understanding of the molecular basis of biology shows that biological processes are governed by the laws of physics and chemistry and therefore are as determined as the orbits of the planets. Recent experiments in neuroscience support the view that it is our physical brain, following the known laws of science, that determines our actions, and not some agency that exists outside those laws. For example, a study of patients undergoing awake brain surgery found that by electrically stimulating the appropriate regions of the brain, one could create in the patient the desire to move the hand, arm, or foot, or to move the lips and talk. It is hard to imagine how free will can operate if our behavior is determined by physical law, so it seems that we are no more than biological machines and that free will is just an illusion.” “

I couldn't possibly have a favorite; I've tasted so many good ice creams several different ones coming to mind. I tend to go for a flavor I am craving when it comes to eating in general and I don't eat much at all, my caloric intake is under 1000 per day,

But eating what you are craving a taste for is a way to be sure of getting the vitamin or nutrient your body needs. Like pregnant women getting cravings even for eating things like dirt and not just pickles and or ice cream as the old meme goes.

Chocolate makes my nose tingle and sometimes it makes me sneeze... not really a fan of chocolate ice cream myself, so all yours of course when people offer me things I typically say; no thank you. I don't like putting them out on my behalf. I have to really really be backed into a corner with what seems like no other option than to ask for help of any sort even then I don't want to do it... it's not pride it's just I've never really been able to depend on anyone not even parents.

I'm just a happy medium; I enjoy flavor as if the last meal didn't exist... the lacking nutrient comes out of intuition of what sounds best on reading a specific craving however... is not always a favorite.

Picking favorites is limiting one's palette painting with a single brush or color...

I have not asked you to pick a favourite.
You have stated that you eat what the body craves and so do pregnant women - but can you state whether there is a choice in what the body craves?

Is there actually anyone 'in there' choosing? Is there a ghost in the machine?

The other two members know the answer to your question, but because they cannot face the reality that you are correct and they are wrong means they will keep deflecting.

You have more patience than I when it comes to dealing with people who continually deflect, good luck, friend.

I know!! Lol.
The mind is deceptive and very slippery - avoiding answering the question.
Socratic questions require honest answers.

It's simply hunger everything is in the food chain dead and alive; animal, vegetable, and mineral to produce energy... all eating and devouring each other with the energy to keep the process going. There's countless things eating you right now... even in the form of energy called thought. What happens when chocolate goes away and you don't have that choice? You'll be sad in an extreme because the favorite was an extreme.

The mind will not let it be seen - 'they' have no choice - the mind prevents it.
Have you ever watched this video?

It explains why the mind is deceptive and destructive.

And is there any choice in that?
Hunger happens and food is sought - is there a choice? Is there 'someone in there' choosing or wanting hunger to arise?

You're an extremophile and that's ok... worried about slopes and slipping because you're waiting to devour at the bottom of that pit I mentioned... and once you think you've just won something now you put out the same bait you always post... stuck in a recursive loop of rinse and repeat like a venus flytrap waiting for insects.

You don't want equality or freedom you want to prove yourself better... because you patiently out bullsh!t with your own rhetoric of bullsh!t... well have fun with the game you play in trying it fill your insecurity of feeling inferior by trying to prove oneself superior.

Yes you just got psychologically profiled as an extreme egoist trying to devour those searching for truth pretending to be sweet and full of love because you're hungry like that plant little shop of horrors... it can take me awhile but I never fail to figure it out.

couldn't wait to celebrate what you thought was a win then lay out the trap again... haha you suck

Just want a honest answer.
It is not about winning or losing - not here anyway!
Are you really searching for the truth when you cannot answer a simple question with a yes or no?
Is there really anyone 'in there' choosing cravings? Or do cravings simply happen?

liar you can try to back peddle so it becomes "now again" in your game of reset... or rinse and repeat but you got caught playing your game tisk tisk.

Now called out on it you can't hide... everyone can see it clearly even you so you can refuse to look if you want but there's the mirror like medusa seeing it's own head.

What came to mind when you read what Stephen Hawkings said about free will?

Though we feel that we can choose what we do, our understanding of the molecular basis of biology shows that biological processes are governed by the laws of physics and chemistry and therefore are as determined as the orbits of the planets. Recent experiments in neuroscience support the view that it is our physical brain, following the known laws of science, that determines our actions, and not some agency that exists outside those laws.

This means that there is no one directing the brain activity.
