Is any anyone else concerned about this type of thing?

Let me remind everyone what he said.

“We should only admit into this country those who share our values and respect our people,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio. “The time is overdue to develop a new screening test for the threats we face today. “I call it extreme vetting,” Trump said.

If we start screening those we want to enter the country, and have an ideological test of what we think is acceptable to become an American...at what point does Trump or someone else decide, "Maybe we should screen all Americans with this test to see if they are American enough"?

This is comparable to McCarthyism in my opinion, and it is not something I am comfortable with.

There was so much I disagreed with in Trump's immigration speech, that this at first kind of slipped by. It was the first I heard of something like this, and the more I think about it, the more I think this is probably the worst part of his entire plan.

So if you support this type of "screening"...what type of questions do you think should be asked to potential immigrants?

What are "our" values?

What "people" does he want immigrants to respect...when Trump himself doesn't respect all people of this country?

Who is going to decide who passes this test and who fails?

Why would you want any moron to be able to come here no problem?

I think there still are boxes to check if you are Commie and something else, already.

I see no problem.

Economic refugees/migrants are another category to be looked at besides ideological.

The immigrants should be able to pay their own way or have sponsors responsible for them.

Like in any NORMAL 1st world country.

No link of course to verify the quote or when it was said and what else was in context.

Jolly good show.

The plan might be a good start.

That probably was one of the smartest quotes from Trump. How can you find fault in that statement?

When i used to travel to arab countries, we had to abide by their laws and values. If it was a dry country, no alcohol, women had to cover up etc... why are there issues when it comes to our American values?

Ask france how things have worked for them so far....
They have strict and primitive laws in their land which i was obliged to respect, why cant our core values be observed.

BUILD THAT WALL. EXTREME VETTING TO THE EXTREME.

That's what is sounds like in the media. Defending and protecting the borders is the apex of what the Federal Government is suppose to do. How many incidents have we had now due to poor vetting processes. I will tell you; too many. It will only get worse. Eventually people will get to the point where they will be asking what happened? How did we get to this point and what can be done. By that stage it will be too late.

They have their values wh8ch we respected each time. We have ours. Why is there ambiguity in that.

Were not aspiring to be like them, just asking to respect our homeland and values.

American citizens shouldnt have to worry about sharia laws while living in america.

What does it all matter?? Lets not talk about vetting and move on with our lives..it does not matter what he says or Hillary..you have one guy out of his mind and one lady that is so well insulated and bought that she could care less about human life let alone...your are so naive if you think all this matters...

Hillary will most assuredly win but it's not because she deserves it,
she will get in regardless of how many people died in Benghazi,
she will get in regardless that she has run basically a money laundering operation under the guise of the Clinton Foundation
She will get in despite us or anybody knowing what the hell Bill Clinton's shell company WJC LLC. is all about
she will get in despite not paying taxes
she will get in despite all the people that have died mysteriously
she will get in despite doing business with felons and criminals
she will get in despite taking donations from the Saudi's and other criminal enterprises
she will get in despite the blatant lies told around the emails regarding Benghazi
she will get in despite the DNC basically writing stories for the day in major media outlets on her behalf
she will get in despite the Vince Foster document debacle..

and to be honest it's fine that she lies...what's not fine is that she is never held accountable...so I'm not worrying about this half a nit wit Donald Trump because he's not getting in...he owes nobody nothing so he is useless in the eyes of Corporate America and the Elites

He wants to take away "birth right citizenship" doesn't he? (At least for "anchor babies) Well, if that's not the measure of citizenship, then???

Slippery slope? I don't know. He can write Executive Orders but I still think something like that would need HUGE support in Congress (isn't it Amending the Constitution???) I think it would fail at the SCOTUS level as an EO, not to mention cause general rage and calls for impeachment...unless, of course, he is able to put one or two people on the SCOTUS...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

(Okay. That IS scary now!!)

Yes he does...that is a whole issue by itself. It's a scary proposition, and one that would be difficult to implement.

Trump said so many radical things in his immigration speech last night, the media hasn't even had enough time to talk about them all.

They are still confused about if his stance is softening or not.

You know that saying about having an open mind but not so open that your brains fall on the floor and the dog takes a chunk of it?

It applies to values too.

How come no one ever brings up the quite obvious reason all the Muslims we're so afraid of are angry at us, to the point of being willing to blow themselves up to make a point and take a few others out?

We've been demonizing them since 9-11 and blowing up their children, women and cities. Our politicians never seen to consider the idea of blowback except that it will be good for the war business.

Yeah, there's some crazies on both sides that think they're going to either go to heaven and get a bunch of virgins, or be lionized for 'dying for our freedoms' but justified anger is fueling most of this.

In any event, we won't reach Civilization 1.0 status until we get rid of religion. There is no way an advanced alien race cruising by the planet could look down on things as they are now and consider us anything but barbarians and that includes our wanna-be 'leaders'. Maybe we could just ban their Korans, along with our Bibles. Burn them all except a few copies locked away in a secure location for a few hundred years. I bet a future historian would look at them and be aghast at the idiocy.

Tripoli was the first country to declare war on the USA.

They don';t need any encouragement or excuses.

Anyone confident enough to let us know your thoughts?
