It is a battle of East and West.

Over here in the modern world, where women are allowed to drive--alone, vote, shop--unescorted, have sex for fun and pleasure, decided (unless in some backwards US state) when/if to procreate, go get an education, marry according to their own will... wait, what was I going to say... Oh, yeah! This is the modern Western view of life: self identity. You have the freedom to pursue happiness as you see fit (within the laws of your land).

The Muslim East is the complete opposite of individuality. Their culture is based upon: religious identity. And guess who appointed themselves as the purveyors of the Word of the Prophet? Men. Only men.

It is not really a religious war (the West has nothing to gain by winning. Pffft, oil is dead! We have nuclear fusion). The Muslim have their identity to lose--all of it. Having never gone through the Protestant Revolution and become more lenient towards other religious viewpoints all they can cling to is their opinions as how to live life based on some long forgotten time.

So we view that move of gong to Dubai by a transgender as a really dumb because most can deduce what will happen under such circumstances. What PMO is the Muslim coming into my country and judging me by their standards--get over it already!

There is no way that any extremist can get people to change self identity for religious identity. EVER. That ship has sailed and they missed the boat. May as well move to outer space at this point (*ahem*).

I blame it on the arrogance of some to create situations in order to gain public opinion approval and to prove a point.

Dubai is the pearl of the middle east but is still a very Muslim country where Islam is practice and is mostly wealthy middle eastern people that own the country

So they are in charge of that country and they have the right to dictate who or not enters their safe wealthy haven.

Why would anyone want to travel to Saudi Arabia? They have one of the worst records when it comes to human rights. Any country that has a poor human rights record should be scratched off a travel list. Why take the risk?

I agree, I careless about Dubai, that is if I had the money to travel I would do so to see the splendor, but only t hose that are very rich or looking for controversy will travel to the middle east.

Still the same rules that are applied to places like Saudi Arabia are applied in Dubai.

She sounds like a liberal, a liberal who's listened to Obama and Hillary and thru liberal stupidity believes that Islam is the religion of love and peace.

Then she was literally dumbfounded when she arrived and saw they're nowhere near as tolerant as the US, who liberals, Obama and Hillary like to pretend is one of the least tolerant places on earth.

so, people don't agree with Dubai's stance on trans...

should we go and free them and bring them democracy?

ah, we can't. they're not 3rd world and have the us clutched at the sack.

don't go to Dubai if you're trans, because its their country and laws...+ not rocket science.

She should have done research before she left - a simple google search would have found that Dubai doesn't allow transgender people. Remember, other countries = other laws and cultures that must be accepted.

It wasn't too long ago that USA was a hotbed of anti gay and anti LGBTQ sentiments, and LGBTQ still have very few Constitutional protections in the United States, far less than in other countries.

Hell, USA only accepted Gay Marriage when forced to by SCOTUS, and it's still legal to fire someone in the USA just because they're gay.

USA still has many faults when it comes to the LGBTQ community, Americans can hardly make claims of intolerance in Dubai.

When you go to another country you follow their rules, even if they suck.

There are plenty of things illegal in America that are normal elsewhere in the globe that would get travelers arrested for thinking their home country's laws travel along with them.

How are the liberals going to spin this one? Two of their pet victim groups fighting against each other (trans gendered and Muslims) I thought these groups were a bunch of saints with Utopian ideas and it was all the Christian while males that were causing problems in the world.

HMMMMMMMMMM!

I haven't heard of this person until I read your post. Is this person really famous? I'm just wondering because it seems like they must have known who she is. I say this because judging from photos of her, I don't think I would've known she's transgender.

Hell, USA only accepted Gay Marriage when forced to by SCOTUS,

Accepted is a strong word. Tolerated is better.

and it's still legal to fire someone in the USA just because they're gay.

Where. Details. Citations.

Don't bother with dress code, code of contact, sexual harassment or breaking religious contract either. Where has a gay person been fired because the boss said "I don't like gays, you are fired." Then show that this boss was not sued.

USA still has many faults when it comes to the LGBTQ community, Americans can hardly make claims of intolerance in Dubai.

I'm happy for him. He can't escape the reality of his biology, and I will not support a mental delusion.

Another reason to avoid flying Middle Eastern based airlines. They all have their hubs in these Arabic nations, where anything can go wrong. As Gigi has just learned.

A Lesbian couple was arrested for kissing on a beach in Dubai too. The entire ME (apart from Israel) is hostile toward LGBT folk, something we have to remember when traveling.
