We truly live in troubled times (though as MrSpad points out - correctly imo - we are also blessed to live in a time relatively... by relatively I mean relative to history, even fairly recent history all things considered ... free of major conflict.)

As always, in my limited and minuscule influence, I can only pray for peace, sanity, and reason to prevail in all things, without deference to a "side" per se. Whatever is best for the general stability and peace of the region, the world, and especially innocents caught in the crossfire.

Peace.

That sounds like what Baghdad Bob did when he said Americans weren't in Iraq.

Yeah...they keep repeating it's just a small group in the military.
It's not...it's Army, Navy & AF.

I dont know much about Turkey's politics.

He was democratically elected?

Why are people saying he's a bad guy?

It's because of Turkey's democracy, which many feel is in danger because Erdogan is pushing a Muslim agenda in which Turkey is a secular democracy. That's also probably why the bridges closures are significant here. Mainstream TV is not to keen to push any idea of an east west division, probably rightly so since a coup is not exactly a definition of democracy in itself, while those taking part in the coup say that this is to protect a secular democracy...that just about as tricky as it gets.

Mate, a think we`re already experiencing WWIII, just that the media, TPTB, etc don`t want to call it that yet.
Hope your pals are ok.

When I was blogging I said "In WWII there were 61 Countries at or in War" Today only 11 Countries are at peace.
Seriously check the stats and yeah, WWIII could have begun long ago buddy...

AP Just said 17 Police have been murdered through Sky News.
Was this the Helicopter that was downed? Or that would be the Military no?

Apparently private citizens are now mounting tanks in an attempt to stop them entering into combat.

Dont know if i find that exceptionally brave or incredibly stupid.

Here's what i think will happen:

The coup will not succeed, but it will not fail either. Rogue military elements will maintain control of parts of the country, and there will be ongoing clashes between pro and anti government forces.

I think this could very likely descend into a civil war.

To get rid of people on top of a tank ?

Turn on the 76mm smoke screen launchers.

No harm no foul.

Scare the crap out of them.
