Trump says he deserves credit for Bernie Sanders' success

Ok, so I'm really burned out on Trump threads, but I just couldn't help it with this one. Apparently Trump's ego has gotten so large, that he is taking credit for another candidate's successes recently. Notably the Democratic outsider candidate, Bernie Sanders.

Bernie Sanders owes Donald Trump a big thank you for his success against Hillary Clinton — according to Trump anyway.

Clinton has been reeling since Trump "really hit her" two months ago after she accused him of sexism, the bombastic billionaire told Sean Hannity in an interview Monday alongside his wife, Melania Trump.

"Bernie got all the credit because she went down and all of the sudden he started doing well," Trump said. "You know when I did that two months ago she went right down."

Trump said he has to "take a little credit" because Sanders has won several primaries recently and is polling well in Wisconsin.

The GOP front-runner may be playing a little fast and loose with the concept of cause and effect here, as it seems unlikely Democratic voters were greatly swayed by his "hits" on Clinton.

I mean seriously? Every time I thought I was done being surprised by Trump's vapidness, he lets loose with another piece of self-absorbed idiocy. Nevermind, that Bernie's ground team is downright amazing. With the Sanders campaign breaking records for individual donations. They've only been talking about it since December of last year. Or the end of January. Or early March. And uh, the beginning of the month.

Oh, it's not like people weren't calling this a few months ago or anything either.

But nope, none of that matters, because the reason Bernie's efforts are starting to pay off is because of Trump's "great" quip he said against Hillary two months ago. Shown below.

Trump was perhaps referring to an exchange at the end of December when Clinton said he "demonstrated a penchant for sexism." Trump responded by saying "I have great respect for women" and that Bill Clinton was actually the one with the "demonstrated penchant for sexism."

Yes, because Democrats and liberal leaning independents are REALLY that concerned with Donald Trump's comeback, they are now supporting Bernie over Hillary. /sarc I can't see either of those demographics giving two #s about Trump's "clever" quip. Let alone one from two months ago. That's like laughing at your buddy because you burned him good. Two months ago. No one cares anymore.

Heck, Trump's "comeback" wasn't even a great comeback. Just a recycled joke making fun of Bill's extra-marital relationships. Like that hasn't been done to death for the last 18 years or anything...

ummmmm
I didn't think this guy had any shock value anymore but his public statements on things like this just go to show how far gone Trump is in his mind.

Donald Trump - the Chosen One, the GodKing we've all been waiting for. PEONS - bow down and OBEY!!!

ETA: I do a google search for "Trump Godking" and find this: The Church of "The God King" Donald J. Trump - Facebook Page (170 likes) I can only hope that's a joke page.

Description says: "A place of worship for the God Emperor of mankind, Donald J. Trump"

I'm just interested to know how this will be spun and Trump's words defended by his supporters. I actually want to see the mental gymnastics required to support the idea that a mediocre at best comeback against Hillary contributed to Bernie Sanders' recent, great success. In any form. Not even a majority contribution, just any contribution. The way I see it, most people forgot he even said that stupidity.

I felt the need to edit....

According to Snopes...Trump never said that.

www.snopes.com...

As much disdain as I have for the Donald...I prefer to ere on the side of truth. I still think he said it; and I find the gullibility of Trump followers astonishing. His cult of personality shows that ideology will cancel out common sense almost all the time.

I gave you a star for having the integrity to admit your mistake and not stand by it just because you want it to be true. It DOES make tons of sense though. I could totally see Trump saying such a thing and I don't have high respect for the fools who defend his idiocy, but I too like to err on the side of truth, and I generally trust Snopes reporting. I know they have been wrong in the past, but it is certainly on the better level of investigative truth finding than some other websites (like Donald Trump's campaign website for instance).

im a trump supporter - i do remember him stating that bernie should be happy that he stole momentum from hilary, and bernies numbers did soar after trump attacked her.
remember, trump hasnt started on hillary yet. hes still on cruz.
if he wins the nomination, then the hillary trashing will begin and alot of eyes will open. unless he says something stupid that makes the one the fence voters take a leap towards the democrats.
cruz will never be our president. hes too ... i dunno the word im looking for... schmuck? you can just look at him and think , nope, never...
i really wish jessie ventura would have jumped in the race here, jessie would have my vote over everyone.
i just want someone in office who stands for the american people, and not the american corporations.
bernie is a career politician, who was an independant for 40 years... then all of a sudden hes a dem.
trump was a dem... then indepenedant, then gop
hillary... you have to be a complete SHEEP to even think to vote for this woman.

Some want to compare him to Hitler.

They really should compare him to Saddam Hussein.

Let's face it. What destroyed Saddam was his ego.

Well that and a 20 year grudge with a powerful political family in the United States. Though I can't wait for Putin's ego to be his undoing. Which may be the case coming soon with the allegations these Panama Papers are showing.

That is in the back of every mothers mind. They do not want to send their sons and daughters off to fight and die in
another pointless war that Trump seems to want with all his tough talking swagger.

That is the reason he will be defeated in the general election...should he even get the GOP nomination, which I doubt.
Even with all of Trumps money, he is still a sissy lightweight in the eyes of the Republican leadership, the pentagon, the banking corporate elite and they don't trust him!

all hat, no cattle....to quote John McCain.

Have you read his ideas? For taxes, reducing government waste, resolving some key issues we have?

Sure, he's egotistical, hot-headed, etc. I really don't care. I'm more concerned with how he plans to tackle these issues, and he's laid them out, if anyone bothers to look.

Likewise, I find the gullibility of Sanders followers astonishing.

How folks think that a do-nothing for 40 years, and then a do-nothing in Congress, and former head of the VA (a complete disaster) is going to turn it around with socialism (which has failed across the globe, decade after decade), is not only astonishing, but downright unbelievable.
