I believe that officer thought Finicum was going to ram directly into the vehicle he was taking cover behind. As such, he jumped out of the way.
Would you want to stand behind a vehicle that you thought was going to be directly hit by a large, speeding truck?
But then again, that's kind of irrelevant. Fact is, this was a "suicide by cop". That's undeniable to the unbiased, really.
I didn't see any prevention of violence on the other hand either, this trigger happy BS has to stop.
We're talking about an ongoing occupation for weeks, you can't take this incident out of it's context. Which you just did.
I may disagree with those militia folks, but they deserve a fair trial like everyone else.
This death was completely unnecessary, except for a police state going full retard and heading for a violent uprising. He was no direct thread with a toy in his hand, was he?
Sheer luck?
Leaving a car after running from authorities, being know to carry weapons, being known to have proclaimed to not be taken alive, lowering ones arms. All would be reasonable cause to consider the subject an imminent threat.
Leaving the car and having your hands not in the air surely justifies an execution.
