Only one ive found and I have tried researching other stories about "Stairs in the Woods/Forest" and it appears that only the chap from the Reddit post bought this up. I think the whole reddit post from the SAR chap is fiction (good fiction) but fiction none the less.

I wasted hours reading his stuff and trying to find other sources to back up his claims but alas, none were found!!

So the general theory here is that people get lost in national parks and that is an indication of something nefarious.

Over the past 10 years I have been to Yellowstone 5 times including back country. I can tell you that though I know the major parts of the park well and have hiked across both Hayden and Lamar valleys it would take all of about 50 feet in the back country for me to get lost and no one find me.

Im willing to bet that the people calling this an X-File have never been to a place like Yellowstone or to a lesser extent Yosemite and similar parks so they have no concept of how easy it is to get lost and never found there.

Is it possible that a small % of these cases ended up in some paranormal way, sure just like its possible I will win the lottery. Occam would explain this as people get lost in national parks and people without experience in national parks get lost more completely.

Yes,if you take the trouble to read back a couple of pages you'll see I put up a photo of them.

I wonder whether that photo, has a traceable explanation of why, they happen to be there

I initally found this guy stories fascinating, but, as another poster, commented, it does, just seem like good fiction writing, in the absence of many others, coming forward and making such claims

unless, of course, there are park service employees on ATS, who have had such experiences too....

I can only guess at why this one is there, actually a couple of guesses.First is what in England we call a 'folly',random buildings or structures such as towers with no doors or windows built randomly in the middle of nowhere by eccentric rich people. In England we build towers,in America you like random staircases instead.
More likely is it used to be attached to a timber building which has long since rotted away. The stairs and arches are easier to make from stone and would be a LOT stronger than if they were also made from wood.

They probably would be good at digging, and that makes sense, why wouldn't they dig holes or tunnels? Good thought

Have never heard of the hanumans. Another interesting topic to read about! I do believe that we have NO idea how many odd species live on this earth, or underground. a reply to: stabstab

In Havre Montana I was rolling with my mother and her ex both natives (I am 1/4 chippewa but mostly all whitey).

We saw a local guy named Roger in an alley likely on his way to a casino. Roger has long grey hair and is obviously native. So when we happen upon him we notice he has two young white kids in a blue farm truck spitting in his face and getting ready to jump out and assault him. So we go over and as soon as they see us coming they hightail it out and I jumped out on foot to try to get the plates. They had driven across the street to a convenience store to hide and watch for us then they saw me again and took off as fast as possible.

They had tried to attack Roger once before also. I know the racism is still alive and well on both sides but to be honest I only ever saw ignorant white people openly discriminate on a regular basis in that particular town. The native communities have their share of douche bags and psychopaths and I think they are the ones that have tarnished the hell out of the native image over the years.

I should have not clicked that link, OMG I should have not clicked it...
Those are not the stories I like to read, and now I cannot "unread" it.
Never gonna step out of the city again.
S&F for creeping the hell out of me.

I should have not clicked that link.

The Search and Rescue guy is just scraping the surface. David Paulides believes that there is not a database in the US for those that go missing in National Parks? And he also got quoted $44,000 for releasing the files of Yosemite and $1.4m for the rest of the parks that by law he should get for free by being a published author. Obviously something is not right with these cases. Yet for those who brush them off as "It's easy to go missing in a national park". .... You obviously have not looked into these cases or others to see just how bizarre these cases can get. Or why FBI agents, and Forest Service and Cops have evidently lied to the familes of the people that go missing.

I think it's Sasquatch, but when you just out and say that a lot of people will say "Oh, here we go."
I haven't even seen one, but once you go out and look into all the eye witness accounts, and there are hundreds upon hundreds if you care to look, you start to realize that not everyone can be making this up. If just one of these accounts are telling the truth... you have a unknown apex predator living in our wilderness.

When these people go missing usually it's when someone is alone or away from their group. I would say most of the encounters I have read, or heard, are when someone was by themselves. You are vulnerable alone and many animals know this.

I'm not sayng it is "Sasquatch" but they are linked.

The Native Americans said of large hairy humans kidnapping their women and children. They were just seen as another rival tribe. They also believed spirits would get them too.

Now you have young kids going missing, and the ones that are found that can actually remember what happened say they were taken by "the big hairy man", and in some cases "the fuss man"....like a blurry guy from a computer game.

Nothing new under the sun it seems, just how we interpret the events I suppose.

To this I would say that the bigfoots probably excel at digging and burrow in and they also might have the ability to slow their breathing, heart-rate, and reduce their thermal outputs as a hunting adaptation where standing very still and using surprise means you get that dear or bird dinner your heart desires.

What they don't have is the ability to melt a boy in his pants.

i knew a few S&R guys and one really strange story.

Out here in the calif desert a teen went missing and the search and rescue team was called out.

During the search tracks were found going into a old mine.

They then called out the mine S&R team that followed the tracks about 300 feet into this mine.
The floor if the tunnel was covered with dust so the tracks were very clear and at the end of the tracks they just stopped.
No tracks going out.
Just tracks going in and stopping. no way up. no way down, just a set of tracks going in and stopping.

They took a casting of the track and they found they did not match the shoes of the missing teen.
And the mine rescue team never did understand what happened to the person that left the tracks into the mine.

I read every page of the SAR guys stories, they matched some descriptions of David P books but with even more detail, kinda almost seems like a disinformation tactic. You take facts, and build on it to almost a believable/unbelievable edge then drop it. I got turned off after researching about Stairs in the woods.

Either that or the SAR guys stories are mostly true, but with some disinformation to not incriminate himself within his agency.

Does anyone know what David P's take are on these SAR stories?
