I really can't comprehend how afraid we as a people have become of our history and of our physical and cultural differences. I embrace them both! I love US history. As a lesbian, I always shied away from venues flying a rebel flag because I associated it with backwoods backwards thinking people that would probably give me a hard time. But I appreciate the historical value of it and would never cry for someone to not display one. Kind of nice to know when to cross the street and walk on the other side, if nothing else lol!

I had a friend that was a huuuuuuuge history and civil war buff. Upon his passing I inherited some books from him, as he liked to collect books about that era. One of the books is a clansman's guide. It made my heart drop when I saw it, but I remembered my friend and knew immediately he probably read it as part of his understanding of our history. I have not gotten rid of it myself, because I think I will someday read it just out of curiosity of the historic fanaticism that still has a few followers.

Having the book does not make me racist or insensitive. Reading the book does not make me racist or insensitive. I actually think reading it would give me a realistic perception of what people like that actually believe. I think I will slip a note in it though as to how a came about it, so in case something happens to me whoever goes through my things will not have to wonder. Haha

Without a doubt we cannot allow our history to be swept under the rug no matter how nasty that history is. To do so opens the door for the old saying that it will happen again.

Places have banned the Nazi flag in games like in Germany. They wanted to ban it so they did.
But I have not seen anyone wanting to ban it just remove it from the goods they want to sell.
To be honest I don't understand why anyone would want to have a flag of the losing side which stood for slavery.

Again they are not banning it from history and you are just hyperbolling, some have chosen just not to use imagery which is associated with racism.

Are you honestly under the impression that the Civil War was fought about slavery and slavery alone ?

Oh NO! A bunch of freemium *cough*money sinks*cough* games are being taken off the market. Forgive me if I don't weep for the loss of a few exploitative games on the app stores.

In order to really understand it, you have to learn about it from all sides, not just that of the victors.

Oh no! More needless censorship under the guise of being PC. Forgive me when I care less when someone finally comes to censor something you care about.

Well if you REALLY care about sinking money into those stupid games, guess you should take that issue up with Apple then. Me, I think it is rather mean spirited to offer a game with enough functionality to get only so far into a game before they FORCE you to pay money to continue at a decent pace. *Yawn* Wake me when they start trying to take Civil War games for the ps4, xbox1, or computer off the market.

If that is truly your belief and you stand by it . The Union Jack flew over opium smuggling to China, the destruction of the Iroquois's federation, it flew when Africans were shipped on slave ships to America and years after the Civil War it flew during the enslavement of the Zula empire including the Bore wars when Europeans died in internment camps as punishment for their husband and sons fighting with long-lasting effects into the apartheid era in south Africa .

Should the Union Jack be banned also seeing as how it has a longer-lasting stain on history ? After all there is far more justification for it being banned then the focus on a four year period in the United States .

Again who is banning it? If a company doesn't wish to use the Union Jack it is their right to do so.
Hyperboling again no one is banning it, no one is erasing history and removing it from places is not doing so either.

The Germans have actually banned the Nazi flag but they still know about what happened don't they?.
Anyhow wasting my time on this it's a flag not a history book.

Well they're a private company they can sell or pull whatever they want, I do think this is way over the top though. All anyone was asking for was for it to be taken down from government property. Don't go blaming the people for corporate over reacting.

They banned the entire game, that is not a hyperbole that is reality! But I see you like that word....

Private companies are banning it from being sold in their stores . I said three days ago after the discussion about the flag flying at the courthouse that there is a growing trend . That has become evident in the following days it is damn near impossible to get something approved once it's been banned .

The time for action is before prosecution not after .

Look at my highlighted words . Growing trends continue to grow unless they are nipped in the bud . If you wait for the events to happen before you protest you are too late .

You bring up the Nazi flag so I bring up this .

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Myself I choose to exercise my rights and speak out before it is too late .
