Yup... and that is why moderators are kind of a necessity for user generated content online. Thanks for that.

Good post, good thread, and I will be lurking about as usual, really hoping to see some good decent debate on the forum if their are disagreement, and some damn civility here.. Let people express for cripes sake, and moderate when it gets to emotional the internet forum has evolved enough to be able to comprehend the right from wrong mentality around here...

Hell I know sometimes posting here I need moderating, and I am grateful to those that treat ME fair...

Their are very good moderators here... I think we can get some good heat in the kitchen with topics in the coming months..

Yes, I know that....and there's nothing wrong with that, either..

What does that have to do with what I said, though?

Also, could there not be an Appeals Process? I can think of a couple of people I'd like to speak up for and would welcome back because they are sorely missed.

The removal of Bone75's post makes my reply redundant.

I joined ATS in early February. Since that time, I quickly learned who was who, who was untouchable and could say whatever they wanted. It's going to be interesting to see this change enforced.
I enjoy the intellectual banter here.

Blessings.

This is a vice... Yet they are saying it is being recognized....

Also again, everyone deserves a 2nd chance, as well in my mind.. Some of the greatest minds ever needed a 2nd chance to focus..

Yet in a sense as well, this does seem a little political..

In any case, I would love to see a fresh set of curiosity here, or new logic, when it comes to some of the same reruns of threads I see..

I grow tired of trying to keep the walls fresh, with new intrepidity...

I would love to come here read a thread, and feel the impulse to add to a constructive topic, as oppose to a problem, as I did tonight...

I cannot wait...

It's lacking common courtesy toward members that is the problem. You know when you've been the south end of a north bound horse.

Well the Brits are definitely the Kings and Queens of the condescending passive aggressive debate style that's for sure.

I mean that as a compliment.

As an American, I take offense to that. I can be just as condescendingly passive-aggressive as anyone.

As an Aussie I take even greater offence.

You yanks ran away from ol' blighty. We were escorted off the premises. And because of that, we're the most passive aggressive buggers out of all of ya's... How's it garn maaaaaate?
No worries. Ya flamin' galah...

and illegals,
ban people for the hate speech against illegals

Hate speech against any peoples should not be tollerated. With freedom of speech comes responsbility

Which means "anything you say can and will be used against you"?

Personally I would award a 'Good effort' sticker for your behaviour chart and present your comments as an example of best practice to the rest of the class.

Certainly, if some of the more emotionally challenged members of ATS followed your lead in search of mature and reasoned debate then there would be less post removals and bans.

There really aren't any 'untouchable' members. In my time on ATS, I've seen members get snarky posts removed (or even be banned) whether they were hugely popular or not. We've got members who can post two lines and get 10 stars in minutes - they still have ill-mannered posts removed.

As far as having 'this change enforced?' It's not a biggie. All that's being asked is that some members should be nicer to other members.

Did you know that many Brits love the banter with Aussies
Friendly insults if you like

It would be a shame if such banter was mistaken for hate or bigotory by the PC lot
Unfortunately I have seen this occur a few times on ATS
Some of our American cousins just do not get the culture and freak out

"The language of the street" is very honest in respect of what I am pointing out
Who wants mealy mouthed PC censorship

We have a saying in my region "We call a spade a spade"

What gets me more than sticks and stones is the insidious seemingly intellectual posts that are well worded yet insensitive and self serving

I applaud this move by the moderators, it has been long overdue. It grew nauseating day after day reading racist posts and racially/ethnically divisive rhetoric, at times one had to wonder whether they were posting on above top secret or one of the nationalist hate sites. Kudos to the staff, adults should be able to engage in healthy discourse and debate without spewing racist nonsense or making blanket statements, which are hallmarks of ignorance.
