Over 30 young women and teenagers came forward claiming they were sexually harassed by Gothard.
There were also reports that Gothard, who also runs the ALERT Academy which most of the Duggard boys have attended, was not reporting cases of child abuse.

TLC has pulled "19 Kids and Counting" from it's line-up.

www.msn.com...

“Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids And Counting currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time,” the Discovery Communications network said in a statement just sent to the media. The network declined to elaborate.

Like Doc said, were these boys around this guy that was a sex offender?

It seems like the world is full of this kind of stuff lately, or the internet is just bring more to light

Is it an official cancellation or just in limbo? I'm surprised at how quick TLC pulled Honey Boo Boo but the lack of immediate action with 19 Kids and Counting (not to mention the marathon that was allowed to go on air for a little while).

I think in the internet age, it is far harder to keep these kinds of secrets difficult to keep, well, secret.

The scary part is, if Josh had only molested his sisters, we would have never probably heard about this.

Seems to be temporary at this time. www.huffingtonpost.com...

The move from the network appears to be temporary at this time, as TLC's website currently has the show listed as scheduled to air on June 1.

Sources told TMZ that the network has yet to make a long-term decision regarding the fate of the show, but the network has been relatively slow to act given that they were still airing a Duggar marathon hours after Josh issued an apology via Facebook

The fate of the show is uncertain, but it doesn’t bode well coupled with the news that General Mills pulling its advertising.

Josh Duggard was definitely around this guy and in his system even before he would have been sent there for "treatment."

Apparently Gothard has even "been featured" on 19 Kids and Counting and the show was not even cancelled after his sex scandal came to light.

You've got a teenager who was told he couldn't even kiss a girl until he was married in a wedding arranged by his parents who was also in the sexually charged camp of a cultist where the teenage girls were being felt up by the leaders after the lights went out. Not surprising that he acted out.

TLC better get it together quick. Though I went to their Facebook page, and I'm astonished at how many people are quick to defend them and still support the show.

These A***hats would have probably kept "Fun and Games With The David Koresh Family" on the air right up until the smoke started pouring out the windows.

What they SHOULD do is immediately say : "Sorry America that we glorified a cult run by sexual predators on the "learning" channel. We promise to run programming of some serious journalism looking into what's really going on with people like the Duggars, Doug Phillips, Bill Gothard and the "Christian Patriarchy"/ Quiverfull movement. Of course, don't hold your breath.

I'm all for forgiveness and rehabilitation but at the very, VERY least this guy should have the self awareness not to work for a dogmatic advocacy group that accuses others of sexually coercing minors.

I think it makes perfect sense

Sex (especially in this country) is like the epicenter of all weirdness and all sin. Being a member of the kind of family and community that he is - seems likely he would overcompensate?

“We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

This is his version of all this. I don't know if it's accurate or not. He is not the only very young teenage boy in the world to do something like this - and it sounds like the problem was handled. Should he be punished for this for the rest of his life?

If he did all what's turning up in the press - and the above statement is true, I'm not sure what this is all about if it's not pure politics. I know turnabout is fair play and all that, and god knows I am no fan of the Duggars:

Duggar argued that allowing trans people to use public restrooms would lead to pedophilia

They've caused enough damage and harm - kinda seems like an overly precise bit of Karma - doesn't it?

Honestly - I say people have a right to go after the Duggars. They have it coming

But - not like this

Are people just willfully ignoring all the information we've dug up since the story broke? That he had 5 victims, 4 that were his siblings, all prepubescent; that it was one of the sisters that went to the dad but the dad waited a year to do anything and it was only because the sister again went to the dad to tell him the molestation was still going on; there was no counseling for Josh, just manual labour with a sort of mentor; when cops finally came to investigate the parents refused to produce Josh for questioning or formal statements. Instead 4 of Josh's victims had to remain in the house with their abuser with no buffer. Add in that he was going after them in their sleep and the 5 year old while reading her books. What is defendable about any of that?

----

TLC is still on the fence about cancelling the show. Now they are just considering not having Josh on the show. Ridiculous.

The parents were complicit in covering it up.

I don't think that's gonna fly.

With the swift action TLC took against Honey Boo Boo, dragging their feet on this is abhorrent. TLC has gone down the tube in the past couple of years with all of their junk reality TV but it is hard to believe they have sunk this low to try and keep the Duggars on the air.

No. I'm not sure he should be punished any more than he already is. But if he was someone else and his parents and the trooper friend they reported it to (who is in prison for child porn) hadn't kept it undercover, he'd probably be in a lot more trouble than he is.

Does seem like Karma at work.

Honestly - I say people have a right to go after the Duggars. They have it coming

Like what? Their show is temporarily cancelled. What other consequences is he or the family paying?

There may not even be any consequences because still on the table for TLC is going full steam ahead with the show even with Josh on it. They think they have enough of a fan base to keep going with the show despite public outcry. They'll probably even do an episode on it to milk it for ratings. Disgraceful bunch of people running that network.

Did they drag their feet?

They pulled it. Is there any official word on what's next?

Not speculation, fact.

I would say that they are definitely dragging their feet when compared to the swift and definitive decision to cancel Honey Boo Boo under similar circumstance. All they have done is pulled it from airing at the moment but someone was saying that reruns will be airing again starting June 1st.

I've been lurking and reading the thread here, but I was wondering, what are the odds he just up and all of a sudden decided to molest his sisters and someone else at the age of 14? Normal exploration usually starts earlier than that. Truthfully, my guess, he was molested himself and this was his way of working that out in a twisted manner. Boys don't like to tell they've been molested in my experience. They feel more shame than girls, partly because if a male molested them, they then wonder if that makes them gay now, not always mind you, just some of the time. And if it's in an ultra religious household, such as the Duggard's, then the shame would be probably doubled. I'm not saying he was molested, but it could explain WHY he started molesting. It might learned behavior for him. Guessing, of course. I could be wrong.
