Why label people?

I do not like being told what to do and how to think. At the same time, I think people should be totally responsible for their actions.

I support total freedom of choice, as long as it does not violate the rights of others, and I certainly do not like government that does not govern.

It is all about responsibility and respect for me, and my concerns are a definitive lack thereof in today's society.

So, Left or Right is not granular enough, and being totally in one camp or the other is hypocritical of the human condition.

If there was a category for Peaceful Revolutionary Utopian I would have ticked it, there wasn't and my opinions /ideology doesn't fit just one of those labels, perhaps a selection of them all depending on the policy. Hence I chose 'not any of those' which is second at 20.94 to 'Libertarian' at 29.18.

All those labels have too many suggestions tied to them, I am all for liberty when it means constructive freedoms rather than unruly chaos.

It looks really balanced to me. It's good to see all the Libertarians to balance out the extremists and protect the Constitution and our freedom.

There's no such thing as a liberal political party in the western world. I find it laughable that people think the war mongering Obama is a liberal.

By American example, Libertarian is extreme Conservative and though they claim that morality shouldn't be legislated they only mean morality that is in line with their own, which of course makes them right-wing authoritarians suffering from self delusion.

Obama is more right wing that the Conservative party of the UK so you're right.
I suppose the International Green Party are more liberal than many but most party's are more center and center right than they are left.

Communism should be on there.

I know some people think its more of a social and economic system but the party who supports it must be called something.

I think communism has a place.

These days all political parties in the US whether democrat or republican are the same at the end of the day. And they all work for without knowing it for the greatest family to ever gain control of the world.

So true - Libertarian in the US is just a term for right wing conservatives who don't want to call themselves that.

I remember seeing a thread recently titled something like, "Why is ATS so Conservative?".

Looks like that thread needs to be tossed into the HOAX bin.

That's actually not the case among the general population.

A Tea Party Libertarian is that.

A true Libertarian, doesn't care about their morality or yours, because that's subjective. Common sense laws don't require morality.

But I suppose it's the same way that most Liberals are actually Conservatives, confused about what the two terms mean anyway.

And vice-versa a lot of the time.

Constitutionalist is about as close as I can get to labeling my "affiliation".

BING!

That's my choice too as the Constitution really did take all the tyrannical approaches to government to task when written.

I believe in fiscal conservatism and social liberalism where your freedom ends at the tip end of my nose. I have no reason to deny ones right to free speech or right to pursue their own happiness. I try to love every one and only react when forced to do so.

I did vote the Libertarian ticket a lot for president over several elections and hunt out the Tea party leaning locals as the ideas i have presented above are mostly represented in the Tea party crowd. I would add i went to a rally of theirs and was amazed to see American and immigrant African Blacks with Asians, Hindu Indians, young people, Europeans and of course the old white people crowd that the media wants us to believe hate the others and are the only ones who like that message. I believe we freedom lovers are being hosed in the media because of the occasional "plant" or maybe just an idiot or two who spout hate with their posters but NONE were at the rally i witnessed.

I absolutely agree. The fact that many people chose Libertarian is deceptive, because they really aren't. They support "freedom of choice" for THEM, but not for everyone.

I can only choose "none" to represent myself, because, depending on the issue, I fall into several affiliations. I have never "chosen" one political affiliation and I honestly feel uncomfortable trying to box myself into one.

How exactly is a Libertarian, who wants the Government to leave EVERYONE alone to their own choices, a right wing authoritarian?

Just more Liberal spin tactics, with zero basis in reality.

I suggest you read the Libertarian Party platform.

Not like it would matter, because by Liberal Logic, if they are right of you, they are Right Wingers. SMH

With the current gaping conflict of interest and corruption holes between congress and special interest groups you would have to be silly to want bigger gov't , hence I lean toward libertarian .

However, down the road if the loop holes were ever to be minimized significantly, I would consider other ideologies as well.

I guess I'm a dynamic political ideologist ,based on the current system of the time.

I pick and choose. I follow my heart. I follow my mind.
At 14 I worked at a local campaign quarters for Richard Nixon's second term. The ending of the Vietnam war was a big issue for young people. I had already been influenced by the flower power people in New York and love and peace seemed attainable.
My first vote was for Ronald Reagan. As a young woman I also became interested in women's rights and my views were moving to the left. I was the first generation of women who actually got real choices in how they would live their lives.
I believe in a woman's right to choose so I am pro choice. However I could never make that choice for myself and three pregnancies resulted in three strong sons.
I voted for Bill Clinton which I feel was the best choice I ever made and though I didn't think his extramarital activities were a smart move I also thought that it should have been something between him and his wife.
I'm for the legalization of MJ and also for the right to bear arms. However I really wish there was a way to control the guns getting into the hands of thugs through illegal means.
I don't want a lot of government controls in my daily life but I don't have a problem with the government helping the poor or feeding children.
I'm still against war but at this time in my life I also don't hold out a lot of hope for world peace.
My religion is pagan. I don't believe in the NWO but do support the NOW (national organization of women) . I dont believe our govt had anything to do with 9/11. I don't believe in chemtrails and I never thought HAARP was a weapon .

No one said that ALL who choose Libertarian, are not. But many in this country claim to be Libertarian and then want to deny women the right to her own body and medical choices, deny gay people the right to marry, and oppose the separation of church and state. If that's not you, then the generalization doesn't apply.

Why label people?

Think of it as a personal introduction instead. We're labeling ourselves in a sense. Hi my name is Karen and I'm a democrat. Kind of like a twelve step meeting.

I dream of a technological socialist utopia. I understand the emotional struggles we go through as a social animal. I think those things make me an extreme liberal.

I also understand that citizens have been enslaved and shamed. This makes it hard for workers to be enthusiastic. So, they're given entertainment and idols to motivate them. This makes them insane, as they are at least twice removed from reality through enslavement and entertainment.

Because I direct these people, I must seem cold and conservative to them. I have to adopt my own version of manipulation similar to their masters',so I can interact with them. Please understand, I'd love to communicate with people freely. However, all sorts of problems arise when I don't play the games they've been taught all their lives.
