As this situation progresses it is looking more and more like the 70s? series "Countdown to Looking Glass". This is playing out almost identical. The next step would be action against an oil tanker or 2 in the strait.

I see simply can't see Iran making a naval strike against a US Carrier Strike Group, with a sole intention of moving weapons to rebels in Yemen.

I mean, yeah I guess it could happen if they were all more than happy to die instantly and not land one hit on the carrier group. But I don't think they are this stupid.

Now, I can see them making a huge stink about the double standard of arming who they want...which may or may not lead to more saber rattling. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see. Though I highly doubt an end of days scenario.

Has the world declared weapons to the country off limits. Why does the US decide they cannot have weapons when we supply anyone, any time, when it is the interest of some part of the US government even if against US laws.

Another pot shot at the sinking vessel known as world peace.

UNSCR 2216 and Schuyler is correct, this is routine practice not only for the situation going on, but to provide assets to support UNSCR 2216.

Has the council decided on no shipments or is that just a request from the country's president.

Yea and wow Hezbollah and Hamas are pissed off that those other guys are getting a shipment.

Oh, good grief! This is just more incompetence from the State Dept. They lie all the time. Why not one more? We are not sending our military personnel to block Iranian weapons shipments *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* ... We are sending them to evacuate US citizens trapped by the internecine violence ... really.

In the mini-series , the Iranians do not go after the US Navy they go after oil tankers. Actually in that series I believe it is Oman and not Yemen , but still very close. The Russians start trailing the US Fleet , The fleet becomes nervous and.... No spoilers allowed.

Oh I don't think they're that stupid. Iran will not attack the U.S. because the last thing they want is the west and Israel to finally have the excuse they need for war with them. But perhaps an Iranian false flag may be in the works? Maybe something along the lines of the Gulf of Tonkin?

Here comes Gulf of Tonkin 2.0.1, minus "The Lizard King's" papa.

We'll never know all the angles here. Just the obtuse ones. Who's the "good guys" this time? And who's turn to burn?
When I thought I've found the answer, "I RAN" from it. Must be my elementary moral compass.

Except in this case the US, along with the Saudi coalition, is acting with a UNSC authorization. On April 14th the UNSC passed an arms embargo on Yemen. The vote was 14-0 with Russia abstaining.

UNITED NATIONS – The U.N. Security Council has approved an arms embargo on leaders of Yemen's Shiite Houthi rebels and their key supporters, ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh and his son.

The vote Tuesday was 14-0, with Russia abstaining.

I wonder why Russia didn't veto it with its recent comments on Yemen.

The Russian ambassador, Vitaly I. Churkin, said he favored a cease-fire and an arms embargo that would apply to both sides in the conflict.

That somewhat answers my question.. Why didn't they veto it since it only applies to the Houthis? It just sems, weird, to me that's all.

Iran's commanders are loose canons always spouting off how they are going to defeat the great satan USA. When they float their little boats full of arms to Yemen and are stopped, boarded and humiliated then anything could happen. They probably have no idea of our true capabilities and will make mistakes in judgement left and right.

We may see Kerry's nuclear treason deal going straight down the crapper as soon as this erupts.

I would imagine at this time they don't want to agree with the US on much of anything.

Quite the opposite, publicly they make those statements, privately amongst each other, intercepted communications have shown they are worried as much as anyone else of a misunderstanding resulting in exchange of fire ... they have routinely advised lower troops to remain vigilant but stay professional, courteous, and not to fire unless fired upon.
