Apparently you do understand what an amendment means.

Amendment
An amendment is a formal or official change made to a law, contract, constitution, or other legal document. It is based on the verb to amend, which means to change. Amendments can add, remove, or update parts of these agreements. They are often used when it is better to change the document than to write a new on.

Meaning the 2nd amendment is not set in stone...it can be changed at anytime.

The point of gun control would be to try and stop people who are mentally ill or have bad intentions from having guns.

Oh, you mean like the guy that went on the rampage in CA??? The illegal, that was deported twice, convicted on numerous drug counts but basically allowed to roam the street because the Govt will do nothing about it..

You mean laws, that have yet to stop criminals from committing crime....Yeah, those laws sure sound great.

The bill of rights is set in stone.

Hasn't changed one GD bit since they were written.

FOR GOOD REASON.

A reason that is apparently lost on the gun control crowd.

It would make a difference if gun checks were more thorough, about background, mental health..etc.

So, further infringement upon a right.

Man, you Progressives would sell your grandmother if someone promised you "protection" from all the boogeymen in life.

Oh, so you would actually like the process walked, that requires to change an Amendment. Instead of infringing upon rights via policies and such.

That is fantastic. I would love to see this played out. I will bet a years salary I know the outcome of that attempt.

OK no more replies to you since you shown yourself to be an ignorant fool.

If colored kids are the problem..then explain why mass shootings are usually done by white males?

Statistically mass shootings don't comprise enough of the shooting deaths to make a DAMN.

Lame ass argument.

I cant process something so moronic. Dang...

So, pointing out the obvious things in life are faux-pa now?

She does have a nice rear end.

She should stick to things she knows. Gun Rights doesn't appear to be one of those things.

From the quote I dont think she did mention gun control just the problem the USA has with mass shootings.
And you do have a problem with mass shootings weather you like it or not. No gun control is likely not problem but that does not mean there is not a problem somewhere.

I for one would like to see these stats.

As far as I have seen..they have slightly dropped ..but has had no big increase in violent crime.

Victims of violent crime (rate per 100,000)

Tough case to crack: the mystery of Britain's falling crime rate

Canada's crime rate continued downward trend in 2013

The Crime Severity Index (CSI) fell by nine per cent in 2013, a drop the report attributes to a similar decline in breaking and entering, and robbery.

Although this is disturbing..

Reports of some offences did go up last year, however, including extortion, child pornography, aggravated sexual assault, sexual violations against children and identity fraud.

Actually our guns laws make mass shootings a rarity. So your "good guys" stop mass shootings and crime..oh wait now they don't...yeah sounds like your current laws are working great..

The problem with statistics is they are meaningless.

Since no other country has the same population or demographics.

Apples and oranges.

Article V: Amending the Constitution

The Constitution can be amended, or changed. The Constitution provides two ways in which it can be amended. First, Congress can propose amendments when 2/3rds of both houses agree. Secondly, when 2/3rds of the state legislatures apply for a convention call, Congress must call a convention for proposing amendments to the Constitution.

So?

Wasn't arguing that it can't be changed.

Might want to ponder that for over 2 centuries the BILL OF RIGHTS is the same today as when it was written.

Anyone who screws with the BOR is done for.

If you read what he wrote you would understand.

He basically said that gun violence is one sided issue..minorities are to blame.

Yep, already addressed my mistake.

IF gun control worked?

Chicago would be Mayberry.

Fact is gun control doesn't work, and has never worked.

And is the epitome of darwinism at work.

Because the only people allowed to have guns is the police, and the military.

That hasn't worked out so well in the last 100 years.

Numerous examples exist.

I see a civics lesson is in order here. The first 10 Amendments, also known as the Bill of Rights, are considered part and parcel with the original Constitution because it would not have been signed had those protections been placed there. The Federalists by and large thought they were not needed because they thought that unless something was spelled out in the Constitution, the federal government could not nor would be able to do it. (I think history shows how wrong they were.)

The anti-federalists insisted that you couldn't just trust the good intentions of government so they insisted that those 10 specific protections be included before any of them would sign and I think history has shown just how important those 10 amendments ended up being.

Certainly the Constitution--any part of it--can be amended through the proper process and a Constitutional Convention with ratification by enough states, but until then, it 2nd says what it says and laws to the contrary are unconstitutional.

Forgot this:

Exactly so why you guys love to bring them up.

Since the BOR is so 'meaningless' then what was the point of the thread eh ?

Since 'none' of them matters.
