Yes , Im a proud Celt and wear a Triskele ring with a Dragon of the East facing the Dragon of the West everyday. My lineage goes back to the 1100's, lastly in Wales.

I would love to see a pic of that ring! Wow sounds awesome! It is amazing how far back one can trace their roots.

As far as I can see Triskele rings normally have celtic knotts on them. However I did come across one or two that had the Greenman, shamrocks etc.

There is also the Irish claddagh ring. Two hands holding a heart which is traditionally used as a marriage ring. I had one that was 3 seperate rings secured together, so when you took the ring off the two clasping hands would seperate to reveal the heart underneath. Sadly I lost it .

There is a lovely welsh tradition of love spoons.


Each one is unique to the recipient(s). It might depict a marriage, a birth, a wedding anniversary, or just somebody's job.

Ahhh....thank you for the link. Pictures aren't showing, but that doesn't matter as I know what they look like. What I had forgotten was the hands, fingers, directionality of wearing the ring. Thank you for reminding me! ( )

Just read your op & jumped straight to reply (I'll go back & read the post in a mo')

Just had to write:

Well let's NOT STOP there!!

We, (the Irish side of the Celtic nation) also gave the world brilliant stories & legends- The Fianna, Fairy stories; Art works & designs (Celtic-flavoured); after converting to Christianity (Thanks WALES! for St Patrick!!), we went out & converted most of Europe with famous missionaries & Euro-renouned monasteries; we had a hand in creating the great Scottish nation- (The Scots were tradionally an Irish tribe, as I recall), as well as being the backbone of many nations- Austraila & The U.S. of A. spring to mind; world respected & celebrated music- from Makem & Clancy (I love them), The Dubliners, Joseph Locke etc. to the more modern (ish)Thin Lizzy, U2, Westlife, Boyzone etc.; to writers like Maeve Binchy, Brendan Behan, James Joyce, C. S. Lewis, Oscar Wilde & also author of arguably the most famous horror creation to date (Dracula)- Bram Stoker.

From art, music, litreture, poetry, sport, acting & many other social occupations- the Irish have had a brilliant world-history run, & I believe it was thanks to being of Celtic blood. Go us (Ireland, Wales, Scotland)!

I'm sticking to the Welsh, but will be picking up on the list of wonderful Irish names you have listed there.

BTW...Ireland are probably up for the win in the 6 nations.....unless we (Wales) can whoop Englands a*** and you lose to France this week end! You'll probably hear me screaming over the Irish Sea!
