Something doesn't add up. The entire country has about 3.2 million who have "picked a plan". California represents about 25% of that total? I don't think so. Besides, check out the problem that will cause California insurance premiums to soar higher than ever....

Excerpt from MSNBC.com:

"California faces a major insurance challenge: The old folks are outrunning the kids in the race to sign up for California's insurance. If the trend continues, it will lead to higher premiums down the line.

People between the ages of 45 and 64 have enrolled in California's health exchange at a much higher rate than their overall portion of the state's total population, while younger adults' enrollment levels essentially track their overall population size, data released on Thursday revealed."

Preface: What I'm about to ask is not asked sarcastically: How is it more people were able to sign up for medicaid? Why weren't they eligible before? If they fall into a certain income where they can't afford to purchase healthcare now, they probably couldn't afford it last year either, so why weren't they on medicaid then?

Well, I don't know about Cali, but I am in Kentucky and I can tell you why it is here...because until the ACA Jan 1,2014 you had to make less than $7.000 a year to qualify for medicaid. Thanks to the ACA it's now up to $15,000 so naturally many more people qualify. I say it's still not enough though. $20,000 a year is not enough money to afford very much.

California fudges the numbers. They count anyone who has created an account as signed up.

I'd like to see where this is more then "hearsay". Do you have any proof of that accusation? How is is that you 'know' how the 'numbers' are being counted.

Well if it has not been said.

You people that want everyone to have "Healthcare" and support this garbage bill are delusional at best.

Even those that get the free "Health Insurance" still cannot afford any "Healthcare".

Get the difference?

Do you get the fact that there is still deductibles to be hit and taken care of?

How does a high deductible plan get you any "Healthcare"?

This whole deal was about "The cost of Healthcare" when it was crammed down our throats.

It has nothing to do with how much it costs to see your doctor, to have surgery, medication. Nothing, nada, zip. In fact it will only cost more now.

I moved to Montana and I am signed up in California supposedly. How? Not by my own doing. I used to go to a state run health clinic with a sliding fee scale. They signed everyone of their patients up for Obama care. They sent me all the information and i just laughed because I don't even live in that state anymore.

So here I am a Montana resident signed up for Obama care in California and I never signed up myself. How many others are like my self. I bet the majority of those signed up in California! Mostly likely all signed up because they were patients at sliding fee scale state run clinics.

Unless you granted that Cali clinic your power of attorney, I'd say you have one hell of a HIPPA lawsuit there.

I live in Southern California and I hear Obamacare promotional advertisements on the radio all day and night. They're literally paying (through commercials and incentives) for people to sign up.

People are signing up because its the law, not because they're "liking" Obamacare, Mr. OP.

When the majority of people have their insurance premiums rise, Obama and his "UN-Affordable Healthcare Act" will just become that much more unpopular.

in a divided country such as the USA to get anything accomplished requires compromise. And compromise makes for poor outcomes.

It is a very good thing that our founding fathers didn't believe as you do or we would still be taking tea at 4pm

Repeatedly, the Affordable Care act has been upheld. It's what we have, it is a fact. You, or I, or millions may not like it for all manner of reasons, but it is the law of the land. For being the "Law of the Land" Obama has sure made a lot of delays and changes in the law. But then, he is lawless.

More proof that either the government is lying or-

Californians are stupid.

I'll go with the latter on this one.

Nope. People are stupid. Look at other states that dont have hardly any signups - they are refusing to sign up to this CRAP. This form of Socialism.

Really.. you actually let a dictator like Obama tell you what the you have to do and you blindly follow it? ( perhaps not you but those you speak of..) Thats Stupid. thats more moronic than the things Forrest Gump says.

Do it just because " it's the Law" - Are you kidding me? We The People can refuse anything we don't deem is right and millions of people are not buying into this swill. I wont not Ever sign up for Obamacare - they CANNOT make me. They CANNOT fine me for it. - They wont put me in jail for it when millions of people refuse to sign up also.

They didn't sign you up. They are required by law to submit all their patients information to the exchange. When a patient who doesn't have an account is added, they create an account automatically. They then count this creation as a signed up user. At that point they send the people, either via email, phone or post, the information for their account so they can complete the signup.

This is perfectly legal and one of the ways Cali is showing they have so many sign ups. I would wager a large chunk of people who are signed up don't even know it yet.
