Kirk

Picard

Sisko

Janeway

Archer

Scenario... You have just finished commissioning the new Enterprise and she needs a Captain.. Time has no meaning and you may choose any one of the above listed, excellent captains to lead your ship into the unknown..

So who do you choose?

For me it has to be Sisko

The strength of Kirk, the thoughtfulness of Picard, intellect of Archer and the moral compass of Janeway; Sisko has it all in my opinion..

So now

Who is next?

Sorry but someone gotta say it, Spock is the man. Kirk took the credit.

That's a tough choice. They're all good captains in their own right.

I would have to choose Picard for 3 reasons...
1. He becomes intimately familiar with the capabilities of his crew members. He knows who is capable of what, and how to utilize their strengths as individuals, and as a group.
2. His ability to think on his feet. He's quick, decisive, and has restraint.
3. Diplomacy.

Still, it really comes down to the purpose of the mission. Each captain has strengths that are unique to them.
War, and nerves of steel. Sisko.
Diplomacy and negotiation. Picard.
Tactical and strategy. Kirk
Exploration and determination. Janeway
Integrity and unique leadership skills. Archer

Ahhh.. I love a thinking man..

For all the reasons you picked Picard, I chose Sisko..

Picard was a little too shy to act in my opinion and that very thing caused him a lot of trouble..

Kirk on the other hand was far too quick to shoot first and ask questions later..

I think I'd pick Picard, but my decision is quite skewed as the vast majority of Star Trek I've seen is TNG. Kirk can be a tad reckless while Picard knows where to draw the line (the location being here, this far and no further)

Well, I'd choose Picard for a lot of reasons. To name a few...he's nice to look at, even more so than Kirk and Asher, and I always loved his personality and leadership style. His accent is an added bonus.

I love Earl Grey.. Just a tiny bit of Truvia.. (Diabetic)

But sadly

No one has asked me to Captain the Enterprise.. (And I am a dog gone Captain)

Kirk -Nope. Too hot-headed.

Picard - Yup! Cool as a cuke, this guy.

Sisko - Let Ferengies cheat him out all the time. Too naïve.

Janeway - She got lost in a big way. Nope.

Archer - Too much like Kirk. great in a fight but lousy for exploring.

With your background, I can see why Sisko resonates with you. He's got grit, ethics, a level head, and he's trustworthy. In a war with the Klingons, I'd want to be on his ship.

Definitely Janeway.

She's handled the Borg, the Q and being stuck in the Delta quadrant all with poise and pizazz and her hair only got messed up a couple of times.

Picard. He has all the qualities of the other captains and knows when to use them. Gotta love his anticipation as well:
