Thank you, Dollukka & Cody.

I was one of the first people she told (in confidence) that there was a problem, years ago. Her passing was surrounded by love, and I know she is doing very well on the other side - knew it was going to happen when she decided a couple weeks ago to stop fighting. When we sang for her, there was a palpable feeling that the "goodbye" was temporary.

I'm just processing everything and needing to do some things to honor the gift of...well, everything.

I've never watched a friend die slowly, it must have been pretty rough on you, any friends I've lost have always been in violent situations, army, bike crashes, car crashes. But with that comes a shock that I'm pretty sure helps to numb the pain to an extent.

To have that on top of everything else going on with you must very difficult. There's not much I can do from this side of the pond. But I can do this.

Keep your chin up AB, you're a strong one, and you'll do just fine.

Loss of a loved one is always tough for those that cared and are left with the inevitable "what ifs".

The best thing to do is just highlight the positives that the soul that you knew, or touched your psyche in someway,
would enhance the now that you are experiencing.


If there was a passion; maybe you could carry the torch ? Or find someone with equal passion to do so ?

AB, I saw your avi before I read about your friend and thought what a lovely avatar

And now, after I read about her passing and this was in her honor, now it's even more beautiful

I am so terribly sorry for your loss, but you have created a wonderful image to remember her by

You guys are awesome. Thank you so much. Your care and support are incredibly appreciated.

This is one of those times in my life when I'm going to look back in a couple of years and go "how the heck did I do all of that?" (I have many of those times...) But I will be fine, and stronger for it. My friend passing, combined with my son transitioning home and a few other factors... well, this past week was really hard, but I am finding my resiliency, and am stepping up to cope.

Thank you for being there when I was most vulnerable and my coping skills were hard to find. I am so conditioned to being a care-giver that it is a challenge to reach out and occasionally be a care-receiver.

Some great artists here! Just awesome in general that there is a thread devoted to avatar creations. Keep up the great work ladies and gentleman.

What is the request/creation process like? I've had an idea for an avatar for awhile now but don't think I could make it myself and do it justice.

If you have an idea of sorts, just throw them out there for us and then we'll all pitch in and try to create something to your liking

For example, color preference, fantasy or if it pertains to a movie character etc. etc.

Someone here will help you along with the details....

Ok... here is the idea,

An alien sitting at a bar having a glass of beer. He'd be wearing a jumpsuit or something like that. Standard issue for a crewman on a spacecraft. It would have a patch or two. I'd have to think if there is anything specific on the patches. The glass of beer would be on the counter and he'd have a hand on it.

Not sure about color preference.
I guess something similar to the reference alien below.
