Always wanted to go up north and fish for pike and musky. Beautiful lakes up that way. Nice fish!!

I feel that way about the a-holes that go on safari and shoot lions. Gators I kinda get. There's an abundance of them and hunters do make a living by killing them. I do hate seeing the larger ones killed tho. Maybe they should put a size limit on them?

Some hunters just use a .22. They have a weak spot the size of walnut on top of thier head. Me? I would want an ar15!!

I live in SW Oklahoma, we used to get excited over seeing beaver.

in wakulla state park florida there is a Dead gater (in a glass case )
claming its 23 feet (seen it btw looks 23 feet lol ) not sure if its a fossial though. sign clames its from wakulla river.

18 footer Well hey thats what every one keeps saying every year when they put out gator pirmits every one goes to get that 18 footer in the lake.
Ok in the dino days gators did get to 28 feet and corcks got 45
nothing stoping a gator from getting 28 feet now except time space and food.
in other words reptials grow as big as there envirment can support .

Florida's weather and abundance of "food" is perfect for gators and snakes. They grow em big!!!

My family goes on occasional fishing vacations. Once, I caught a massive pike. It was as along as my dad's arm. I will likely never catch another fish in my life as big as that one was. It was a once in a lifetime event.

It just happened. I put my lure in the water, cranked, and it bit. I reeled it in.

We put it on the stringer, took it back to shore, took pictures, cleaned it and ate it. It was big enough that everyone had quite a decent sized piece from it.

Now, I love fish. They are fascinating creatures. Before having my son, I kept and bred several types of rare cichlid because I loved watching their behavior.

But,

I also love fish. They are quite tasty. And as a human being, I am an omnivore which pretty much means I am meant to eat both animal and vegetable matter. So that pike was on the menu, and if it hadn't been him that took the lure, then it might have been a bass or two ... or maybe a walleye.

It is safer for the children, pets and livestock to hunt the big ones first, if you are from the UK you really don't have any experience with large predators.

Cougars/pumas will kill hikers and anything smaller for lunch
Coyotes will take young children for the same reason.
Bears are opportunists and will take what they can.


Ask the Aussies for their opinion on the matter of big dangerous animals as a tiebreaker.

Size does matter. I think its trait passed down from our hunter and gatherer ancestors. Kill the biggest, meanest predator and you are the man.

The biggest male gators (and bears, and lions, and many other predators) are the main predators of smaller gators. Plus they get domestic animals--dogs, calves--and deer. Occasionally the big ones get people.

In Africa, the crocs take people every day.
