Man....those are some huge gators. Two 13 footers were taken in Mississippi by hunters. Both weighed well over 700lbs!! I am fascinated by these prehistoric giants. Glad we don't have em in Oklahoma. I wonder if a 20ft gator will ever be killed in the states?

I used to really enjoy trucking across I-10 because there are spots, especially in Louisiana, where you're on a causeway type bridge over the swamps. I always got a glimpse of a few gators from up there, looking onto the water below. They were little guys though... A couple feet maybe. 3 tops.. Nothing big.

One of those beasts would have had be stopping on the tiny little shoulder to grab my camera, if not something with more firepower. lol.... What a sight to see!

I hear ya!! I live in northern Oklahoma and do a lot of river fishing for flathead catfish. If I saw one on a riverbank I might have to retire from fishing. Luckily our winters are a little too cold to have any here.

I live in the South and have caught and killed more then my fair share of Gators. Anything over 11 1/2 foot is a monster these days. Biggest one I have personally caught is 12 foot 3 inches weighed about 650 lbs. I have seen bigger some I guessed to be 14 or 15 foot long. I can tell you one thing the American Alligator has nothing on the Costa Rica Croc. When I saw that animal in person I flipped. Talk about huge!!!

How dumb is this guy?? Crocs grow up to 20 feet long. 15-18 foot is normal all day long.

I don't think there has ever been an American alligator 20 ft in length recorded. The 19.2 that was allegedly found on a marsh island in Louisiana in the 1800s--I would want to see the skull to see if it were, in fact, an alligator and not a crocodile. Regarding maximum size for recent crocodilians, and I don't remember any alligator being even 15 ft long. These alligators are big--700 lb size--but a 17 ft Nile or Saltwater croc would weigh twice that. A twenty footer would be well over a ton.

There should be a moratorium on the size a gator or croc can get. Anything over 2 ft
has to die.

Made me nervous just to watch the vids.

Sure they are big and even in my prime I would have hated to wrestle one of them.
But don't their cousins the crocodiles get abit bigger.
13 feet just does not seem "giant" to me.
Now if it were a 13 foot Iguana...

American Aligators make me laugh with their small sizes.

Go find a crocodile and cower in fear.

I live in SW Oklahoma, we used to get excited over seeing beaver. I can't imagine how seeing something like that, laying across the water from you, feels. Geez.

They make wonderful purses and boots
Breaded and fried, some tasty eating too. They watched the dinosaurs die, but you make them fashionable and put them on the menu at Micky Dee's, extinct in no time!
