One of my favorites was originally done by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross "Endless Love"

But here is a live version done by another two of my favorites Luther Vandross ( May he rest in peace ) and Mariah Carey that is beyond words.

Now for my all time favorite done by Sheriff called "When I'm with You"

It was a one hit wonder Monster Ballad that was release in 1983, but didn't hit #1 till 1989.

This person has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard and the last note in the song is literally a world record breaker, for holding the longest note in a pop song.

I've been waiting for someone to post that one!
Kudos sir...or ma'am.

I think I shall toss up a few more with everyone's kind permission:

This first one comes to us from Cleveland Ohio and that would make the year 1972. Allmusic described their sound as: "exquisitely crafted melodies and achingly gorgeous harmonies". I can find no fault with that accessment...

Okay, I'll admit at the time of his emergence onto the music scene, I couldn't stand Richard Marx. I was determined that nothing was going to change my mind on this. Then along came a very special woman who showed me just how wrong I could be...

If I had to pin it all on one aspect, I'd say it was the mullet Marx sported that I couldn't stand but as time went by I began to realize that it's not something I could hold against him. I'll blame that on the 80's...

Yeah, I can already feel you squiming in your seats out there but just one more. Not every love song has a beautiful lilting melody. Some are dark brooding tales of regret that can steal the breath from your body...

Now this next lil' lady really caused a big stink in her time after her appearance on SNL climaxed with Sinead burning a picture of the Pope, stating that it was high time for people to face their true enemy. While I am sympathetic to such messages, it pretty much sank her career...

Roch Voisine is a Quebec native. You don't hear much from him anymore but in his time, this man could show up in any venue and have the ladies swooning in the aisles. I used to have a friend who was a dead ringer for Roch...it was even his nickname amongst close confidants. I can't begin tell you how many times we were given red carpet treatment simply because no one present could tell the difference between the two. (Hint: OUR Roch had a small scar across his nose where he had broken it in a car accident!)

This last one is one of Roch's best. Like Helene it managed to garner him some international noteriety but it was mostly in Europe and America never really warmed to Mr Voisine. Their loss...

Enjoy!

-Peace-

I am a HUGE Smiths fan! My "love affair" with them started more than 25 years ago and it has never dwindled. I know that most people view them as depressing but I have never understood how people fail to see the beauty in their lyrics and music even when they portray the human condition at it's lowest ebb.

Another......
