Only thing I don't understand... why next wednesday? It is not supposed to be back up until 2015, last I heard.

Read my post right above yours, they're not talking about this Wednesday, but a Wednesday in September 2008, when we all, apparently, did not die.

AHHHHHHH .... so they pulled up something from years ago and slapped todays date on it?
I guess that explains why I thought I was on an alternate time line or something.
I thought it was already up and running!!

No no no. Blame the reporters who took an old report and slapped todays date on it.
But don't worry ... I'll go find some more doom porn so we can be on failure watch.
Gotta' have it .... it's ATS tradition.

Actually, it hasn't happened yet. But the time distortions are already becoming evident as we get closer.

No, I don't think that's the case -- like I said, many newspapers' web sites automatically put today's date at the top of the article, not the day that the article was published, so I'm guessing that if you go look at it tomorrow, it will have tomorrow's date on it.

In other words, wrong, but not intentionally so.

If the Higher self is not bound by time & space maybe some will blink here and there in the current present and future and alter

I don't know if it helps your theory, or not, but sometimes, when I burp, I can taste the past.

Well done that dog.

5 year old story, we're all still alive nothing to see here, quick everyone run back to the collapse of the US government and NK nuclear strike threads.

More recent doom there!!

NO they didn't slap todays date on it. that is just the website date stamp that is on every page.

Problem is the archived article in incomplete. Normally they gave the jounalists name and date of publishing, but in this cases its missing.

The only one who dragged this up, is the OP sorry to say

While I do not think anything horrible will happen, I have to laugh at people who believe they know everything about black holes.

Everytime we think we know something it turns out that we really don't know anything.

also click the science section button on the bar to go back to the main science page. You will see this article is not featured anywhere.

Suspect the OP was searching for LHC stories and doom, and found this saw the site date and put 2 and 2 together and got 7 billion dead.

It wont be turned back on until 2015 = FAIL

NOPE. Just looking at stories and this came up. I wasn't intentionally looking for LHC stories or LHC doom. Like I said in the opening post ... I thought all this happened years ago and so I asked if I was on an alternate time line or something.

** That's the title of the article. Not my title.

This weeks' doom porn for those who like to be uptight ... and also for those who like to say 'I told you so' when nothing happens ... take note of Wednesday October 16, 2013. We could all be sucked into a hole of nothingness. Okay ATS, we are on 'failure watch' for 10/16/13 .... (and yes, I'm sure nothing will happen)

Are We All Going to Die Next Wednesday?

n an instant - about one-twentieth of a second - the entire Earth would simply vanish from space. Less than two seconds later, the Moon would follow suit. Eight minutes later, the Sun would be ripped apart, followed by the rest of the planets in the solar system and onwards, a wave of destruction caused by a rent in the fabric of space itself, spreading out from our world at the speed of light. Any extra-terrestrials out there would die too, in due course. And there would be nothing technology could do about it.

But why should we now be worrying about such possible causes of Armageddon? The answer is a gargantuan machine - the largest, most expensive scientific experiment in history, the 'Large Hadron Collider', to be turned on next Wednesday.

Now someone tell me .... wasn't this already turned on?
Or am I experiencing a timeline shift?? I thought this was up and running already.

I cant believe you put this up again......again......again.

Yeah. My bad. I read your post, but still made the comment. My post was to educate about the LHS upgrade. I should have left the last part out.

Your post should be the end of this thread.

They have been increasing the power for the LHC incrementally. Here is a link outlining some of the past upgrades.

Wednesday is not a bad day to die. Either is Thursday, or Sunday, or Tues...

For me, everyday is like Monday.
