That is incorrect, no one is exempt. People will believe anything that backs up what they already believe or hope to be true or their existing worldview.

Are you sure about that?

What I think this effort is for, is to VOICE the points, that concern Cruz in regards to how the Senate is planning to take on the House resolution...

It's pretty shady to pull that cloiture deal that Reid wants, to essentially eliminate an actual floor debate in the Senate... it also removes the usual 60 threshold and changes it to a 51 majority vote...

Reid plans on adding 1 amendment prior to vote, that being, a reversal of the House vote to defund, and fund the ACA...

There have been quite a few moments so far in which Cruz has reflected the frustration of the status quo in our current Congress, this cloiture deal would allow all 46 REP Sens to vote NO (so they can tell tehir constituents that they voted against the AMA) while still full knowing that the Dems have the majority to cover the 51....

If it was a normal Senate floor deal, you would hear arguments, amendments from both sides, etc... basicly the 100 sens doing their job...

Not pulling some crap like cloiture, and pushing this through since they are "Once Again" running out of time...

More power to him, happy to see so many Sens pop on this evening, even Durbin... Cruz must be creating a buzz for him to have so many visitors... Originally I heard he may have a couple show up to voice their thoughts, I have seen 5 so far (could have missed some from earlier, didn't catch it til 6PM EST)

I appreciate the reply, and I understand the symbolic/political motivations for Senators and Representatives to call for defunding. I am asking if individuals on ATS are opposed to any of the actual discretionary spending that the ACA calls for and why they oppose that particular spending.

Everyone should be forced into this monstrosity! Sue and have all the wavers thrown out and have everyone of the DC crowd forced into this along with all the unions with no subsidies! If they did that this law would be repealed!

How many here will support Sen. Ted Cruz by watching him as he fights for what is right.

I've always wondered what would happen to a filibuster if the Senate had to be evacuated. Remember when all the government buildings were evacuated on 911? I also remember a lot of bomb threats in the days following 911. Remember that earthquake? Would they have to end the session and thus the filibuster before they evacuated or would it just continue when they returned?

Even though it is hard, he is still trying to get Republicans to support a 60 vote threshold.

Obamacare will proably get funded but damn, I'll be damned if it gets funded and we don't at least throw up a huge I told you so to the rest of the nation when they start hurting. It sucks to admit this but regret is stronger than caution. Obama is extreme evidence of it.

You actually believe this guy represents the people? You don't think he is a pure politician? He renounced his Canadian citizenship for no good reason whatsoever. Just for political reasons. If you renounce your citizenship for politics, what else will you do?

What's wrong to to renounce your former citizenship if you decide to dedicate yourself to a country? He didn't need to do it in order to become a politician, he probably did it because he believed in something and he believed that the US's constitution was worth fighting for. I know if I were him I wouldn't have dared to do that since the US is very unstable and I would want a second option in the event that SHTF but he believes in one thing and that the people will ultimately choose the right path. Now that's balls.

Senate procedure limits how long he may speak before the initial vote to invoke cloture on Wednesday.
This isn't a filibuster. It's a dog and pony show. Nothing more. It's a stunt.
Just like everything that ridiculous party tries to do and fails at.

So sad that he GOP are playing political football with the nation's finances.

How sad would this have been in the 90's or even in the early 2000's?

Republicans for shame.

Not that I"m a fan of ObamaCare or anything, but repealing that legislation, without control of the Senate or the WH is an exercise in insanity.

I bet you John Boehner wants to kill himself.

~Tenth

Insanity.......now there is a word that is fitting for just about everyone it seems. Let's choose a side and stick with it no matter what even if they sell out everything I believe in. I sure hope the guests and members reading this understand one simple cold hard truth TPTB want the sheep to point fingers back and forth.

TPTB are not left and they are not right they are both. When the people finally wake up to this FACT we will finally get some change. Until then finger point away but you might as well point the finger were it belongs............AT YOURSELF.

Read the contents of this thread bro. It isn't as purely simple as "steal money and help poor people" like most low info voters believe it is.

It's all for show people.

You got that right. TPTB have infiltrated both sides of this pathetic republic. I bet most people do not even understand that we are not a democracy we are a republic ruled by law. Lincoln was not hero he was a traitor. And so were many other presidents along the way.

TPTB want people to argue and suffer so when the sheep beg for change they will really give it to us. Let's be socialist and stick to the rich...............Look back into history you fools. Even a young person could see this pattern heck I am not the sharpest tool in the workbench and and I can see it. And yet they fall for the same lies over and over again.........Rant off.

wow, 3:40 AM EST and still going. Now already 13 hours. Its just Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz talking amongst themselves. Whether it is really about stopping Obamacare or political chess/grandstanding (which I think it is both), you gotta hand it to Cruz, he really is doing this until he can no longer stand. Gotta give him credit for that and also putting on a 13+ hour infomercial on how destructive Obamacare is for this country.
