I don't believe that the OP denies that other religions kill children.
We had another poster say that the news in the OP is propaganda. That poster is in denial.

Anyway, google search 'witch doctors in Africa kill children'. They don't only kill them, they EAT THEM.

Ever seen the movie "Blood Diamonds"? They repeat a saying in that that just...fits. It really does. "This is Africa...." As if to say, this isn't the real world out there where everyone else lives and life has rules with limits. It's Africa, where both the best and very worst of humanity have reigned in one balance or another for a few thousand years.

I read this story earlier on skynews.... yes, it is nasty!

This kind of thing has been going on in Nigeria for a while now but it seems not much can be done about it. I wonder if the Military Personnel just can't cope with the amount of 'Extremists' over there???

I also hope this kind of thing doesn't become all too common place in other parts of the World where these 'Extremists' exist!

Just take a look at human history, we have been doing this to each other for centuries.

Atrocities have been committed endlessly through time in the name of religion, all religions, no one is exempt. This is just the latest we know of. Acts like this are a stain on humanity, on all of us. It is horrendous. Inexcusable. There is apparently no sane limit for ignorance and hatred.

I am not evil by nature and neither is 95% of the population. It is the vast minority that are evil at heart, and unfortunately that vast minority are the ones who are in power.

Yes, we should have moved past these sorts of things by now, but those in power won't let that happen because they thrive on fear and hate. It is not human nature to be evil any more than it is for an animal to be evil. Power is what creates evil, not human nature.

Islamists don't behead people because that's not what Islamists do.
Islamists males aren't raping women around the world because that's not what Islamists do.
Islamists don't fly planes into buildings because that's not what Islamists do.
Islamists don't blow up people at marathons because that's not what Islamists do.
Islamists don't beat their wives because that's not what Islamists do.
Islamists don't honor kill their kids because that's not what Islamists do.
Islamists don't riot over cartoons because that's not what Islamists do.

The above is a complete set of lies, but here is one undeniable truth.

Islamists don't love their religion and their allah enough to go after those that use it for evil purposes. If you claim to be an Islamist and you allow these heinous crimes against humanity to persist, then you're just as guilty as they are.

I agree with much of what you said Rabbit, but here we are speaking about an innocent child experiencing the horrifying nightmare of a grown up man putting it on fire with no one strecthing out a hand to help, Do you know how utterly painful an injury to the skin caused by fire, excessive heat or certain chemicals feels like?

You are preaching to the choir ( ) and I certainly don't say we should ever get used to it or accept it. We need to accept that we cannot change it from the outside and this happens...but never get used to it.

College geography wasn't at all what I expected it to be. It was about 10% reading maps and finding rivers. The other 90% was sociology mixed with cultural analysis from the 1400's to present for a lot of the focus. Africa being a strong part of it. A good deal of what I saw in that course and learned about was beyond thinking for the evil men can do to each other (in terms of why people form the civilizations they do or move). Check into the literal harvesting and butchering of children in other African nations for their bones ...while they are alive for the process. It's not even deliberate torture there. Just unthinkable indifference to the fact it's even a human being. That is largely directed on the African albinos. Burning people inside their own structures is also a tactic of the Sudanese forces in Darfur.

One thing stands out tho? We had a student in the Geography class that was here from Nigeria. It's no assumption as he'd said it himself. When the subject just peripherally touched on the "Nigerian Email Scam" as literally being Nigerian in origin and part of the organized crime fueling large sections of Africa today, he went off like a little skeptic grand finale on the 4th of July. lol.... You'd think street crime didn't happen in Nigeria to hear him on the matter...yet he'd been fine with being very critical of plenty of the other 53 nations of Africa before that. Go figure.

Denial is a dangerous thing, eh? Nigeria has around 16% of the entire African population with 177 million people (give or take). It's a bad place to imagine degenerating more toward a Somali situation. Things like this don't bode well for a general trend toward law and order.
