I think it's about time gays will be forced to be just as happy as the rest of us.

You know, I've heard a lot of responses over the years about "letting gay people be as miserable as the rest of us", and I always feel a little bit sad when people say that because it must reflect their experience with their own marriage... But I just celebrated my 21st wedding anniversary 2 days ago and I am so extremely happy in my marriage and I would marry him again in a heartbeat.

Marriage can be miserable or it can be joyous and wonderful. It all depends on the people involved. Marriage is hard work, but if you do it right, it's one of the coolest things in the world, IMO.

Anyone that's really happy in their life would know that my comment was in jest. Instead if telling me you're happy, your reply tells me the opposite.

Let the moral fabric of this country continue to unwind.

Ya, cause God knows kiddie porn, heterosexuals who have multiple wives/girlfriends, depraved men who kidnap small girls and hold them in captivity for years as sex slaves while fathering children haven't added to the unwinding of moral fiber.

You obviously haven't experienced all three rings of marriage:

1) the engagement ring
2) the wedding ring
3) and the suffer-ing

Ironic, gays want to marry, straights don't, didn't the gays get the memo?

OH well, just sayin

if i may, i believe it's more than just 'Marriage' it's the fact that we were denied solely based on our sexuality, i personally don't plan on getting married, but that doesn't mean i don't deserve the right to marry if i want too,

why must i sit here as other people 'vote' on what i can legally do when others are just granted that?

it's about being treated equal, as Humans because that is what we are

It's necessary to have a sense of humor to understand, and it also helps if you're married.

Most all homosexuals and those who support the gay agenda insist the "personhood and dignity" of homosexuals be protected while at the same time they reject the "personhood and dignity" of an innocent baby in his or her mother's womb. A woman has a right to kill her unborn child.

Technology and God has revealed, life begins at conception, God creates a new person with a body and a soul. The disconnect, what a time we live in... The further you go away from God but He is waiting for you to return.

see Psalm 50 in the Douay-Rheims Bible

this a thousand times this,i have been telling people to look at it this way for years! pro second amendment people want the government out of our gun closets...than how can we if we wish to defend our second amendment rights in good conscience defend the second but not stand for marriage equality? i dont want the government in my gun cabinet so why the hell would i let them tell you what to do in your own bedroom? if any one recalls that gays with guns add campaign from Washington a few weeks ago i know who did that and they are doing a good thing.

more directly on topic this is good news for America and i think the scotus did good this time....sure took them long enough to repeal doma

I made a living in college on the stand up circuit in much of the midwest. Note that I said that I made a living. I wasn't bagging groceries by day and telling jokes by night. I'm funny.

So, since I have established my credentials, please, tell me why the joke is supposed to be funny.

Stop.

Abortion has no place in this debate.

It's like me saying, "People say homosexual marriage is going to ruin families, but you know what ruins families, gun violence." Let's not muddy the waters, eh?

No T no shade, we have discussed before but that is irrelevant to this conversation

even if it were, how does equality and abortion coincide? many say the 'Gay Agenda' is forcing our sexuality on people, but what of those forcing a dogma to deny us equal rights? or to dictate what people do with their own person?

i believe this is a conversation for another topic, one which i would be obliged to discuss with you

for now, let us celebrate the ruling of DOMA

I wonder if this ruling can be made to apply to polygamy? Don't they also have the right to equality, happiness and benefits or should they continue to be discriminated against as well? Trust me when I tell you, I have no interest in more then one wife. I love the one I have and one is plenty for me. I just wonder if those individuals that want to have polygamous marriages will be protected by this ruling too.

Some people want marriage defined as between a man and a woman. Some want it as two consenting adults. The polys want it defined as just consenting adults, right, why deny them too? If you are truely interested in not interfering with other people's lives then why not let them pursue their happiness too?

I can totally understand denying say, a guy who wants to marry his horse or goat. Animals can't consent. But if humans desire to have a polygomous marrige, who are we to tell them no?

What say you ATS and defenders of letting everyone have their right to the pursuit of happiness?

Hi,

Same subject...discrimination against the "personhood and dignity" of another group that is denied, actually far
worse, this group of persons, are killed!!!

Nah, you run away Darth. Why is the "personhood and dignity" demanded of homosexuals while the
the same is denied of a human person in it's mother's womb? I will kill my unborn child because I have
the legal right to but the claim of discrimination against homosexuals must be corrected! Koo koo.

There is no such thing as homosexual marriage. God made marriage between a man and a woman.

I'll tell you whats really funny.

This is not about Gay's rights. This is Only about another avenue for Government to tax and put federal restrictions on Gays. It gives the government more power over these people now as couples.

Which is fine by me. Let the Government screw the gays. You know, many people choose NOT to get married because it causes problems with Social Security and other financial areas? People have figured out they make out better by living together and filing separately. LOL.. it's funny..The Gay Pride is keeping these people from thinking clearly.

This has been predicted because of our nation's acceptance of the abomination of sodomy. Scary, you soon will have the right to do anything you wish.

This means that married gay people in states that approve gay marriage will now get federal benefits that they have previously been denied.

Woo-Hoo!

That is wonderful news. It's about time. Now, we just need to push for legalizing gay marriage in every state. There is really no reason to not allow it.

I have seen people argue that allowing gay marriage will open the door to things like allowing people to marry their dog or a child or something....Well, that is utter nonsense. It is the same argument that was used years ago when it was not okay to marry a person of a different race.

I feel this is a step in the right direction. We have a ways to go, but we are headed in the right direction as far as this particular subject goes.
