Look I have my leanings and issues and I know you do to. The left and the right have differences. BUT, and this is a big BUT; we have to find a common ground.

There are some issues up front and center right now that need to take priority over "the other stuff".

We cannot continue to let them conquer us by dividing us!

We have to stand together. That is their worst fear.

Come on people!

The only issue that we should care about right now is the grey area between our politicians and the lobbying industry. That should be a fairly easy place for the Reps and Dems to come together on .

However, they are to busy chasing their tales with distractions.

I was talking about us, collectively. Not politicians. Their bread is buttered by entities that do not have our best interest in mind.

I was talking about us 2. I started a thread on this before on what IMO is that we non politicians have to do to make things better.

Standing together is nice and all in the abstract but the moment you or somebody else identifies the reason why we are standing together everything fall apart into an asinine bag of "buts".

Why...

Why must it stop, specifically when the ones that profit are the ones that get this so called peace you ask for..

As I get older and more seasoned, I am left with the realization that those that try to unite are after power and their own agenda.. Not saying you are.. if the shoe fits... after all who gets to be in charge in your scenario..

See it is a passive Aggressive form of power playing...

Truth of the matter those that call for everyone to get along in this way are either after power or being used by those that do..

What actually happens when we disagree.. Have you considered this...
1)healthy competing viewpoints
2) new ideas

the winner however is not necessarily the best idea.. merely the best combatant

We do not need to get along, what we need is old fashioned hard heads...The reason is so we do not end up with a progressive mommy state (unless she is hot) watching our every move..

The only mistake the above people you have limited in shortsightedness need to do is STOP compromising your beliefs in the name of expediency and getting things done.. your people in charge are not their because they believe in the cause.. they are their because of POWER....

With all of this in mind OP... what are you after and what do you want..

Thank for listening...

Love TEXAS

I apreciate your sentiments and agree with your words. The ground is beneth us and the lines have been drawn for many decades with the "Have's" and "Have Nots" Degrading, belittling, down right treating people with the same decorum and manner's as you would treat your child is not even existent. People raised with silver spoons will never understand the middle and lower class. Whilst the attack on the middle class is blatently obvious all we have are the "have's" and "have nots".

If you have an idea on how to solve this problmen GrantedBail, I'm all ears because I would like nothing more than what was stated in your very short but sweet OP.

Here's to wishing on a star.

Can you explain how you plan on this happening? People don't go to meetings with the entire USA and talk with each other.....How do you propose this happens?

I would love to all be together and collectively make decisions based on majority vote from THE PEOPLE but it is not feasible.....Unless you have a master plan to move this into motion?

I agree, but it'll never happen. It just goes against human nature.

I think we all have the same goals pretty much - but differ in how to reach them. Would you totally abandon what you 100% believe to be the best course of action to reach a certain goal and go along with others you think are 100% wrong? I bet not.

Too bad we didn't evolve from bees or ants...

The common ground went into effect on March 4, 1789. Now we need some politicians who remember what that means.

The NSA has already listened to our conversation... Anything else we say would be incriminating
we will all be treated as terrorists.... Wait....
Then it's just another day, right?

Ha ha, you are funny. I don't want to be a leader, nor do I think one is necessary. Collectively as the "have-nots" we can stand together. We can leave the red meat and divisive issues that separate us at the curb. We can come up with some core principals which we could all agree upon. I would think??

In before the most die-hard authoritarian statists on ATS chime in by claiming that everyone else is the problem, certainly not their ideology, and that they are actually just misunderstood libertarians.

This will be a tough conversation to have if only because of the ingrained mentality of the victims of Double-Think.

Have-nots join forces, leave it at the curb side.... Sure, anything is possible and the have-nots are the majority in America... This would only lead to rioting, murder, a revolution with at least 5 generations that have never seen war except on a Video Game or Via TV / Movie... Even if we had the Army behind us... Even if the Have-Nots joined forces, I can only see this ending in a Civil War and majority of the Have-Nots being put 10' under or worse.

I don't want to sound disuasive by any means, but I've heard OP's like yours before... I've never heard of a logical answer. Voting is a sham, our leaders are a joke, it's only a matter of time before the Have-Nots go for blood.

Minus some form of Divine Intervention by some other worldly power.

So what are you standing together for if you don't identify a reason? What is the purpose?

I hope you weren't thinking I was talking about some kind of revolution??? No, I was talking about the collective leaving the devisive issues checked. It is the only way. But no, they have us fighting over crap that they don't care about while they finish the heist.

It's Obama's fault, It is the Socialist's fault. it is the Marxist's fault, it is the illegal Mexican's Fault. It is the Welfare Queens fault, Man there are a lot of guilty mo fos....right?

People need to realize it aint none of that.

No by your OP I know you weren't talking about a revolution. Sorry if it came off that way, get a million have-nots together to serve a cause and you have a militia deemed terrorists by our once great nation. They would be attacked, dismantled and put in the ground if they didn't obey our great Commander and Chief Obama.

Everyone's at fault and nobody wants to take responsibility, that's the problem. The elites have been found with there whole body in the cookie jar and "we the people" just keep doing our daily grind because if not who would feed our children or pay the mortgage, let alone insurance, electricity, gas yada yada~ All the while "We The People" bitch and moan about TPTB and just go idly by working like sheep to the slaughter.

The final outcome is not good. If this continues, people will start snapping.... Wait they already are...

I want unity and equality but that's not what "They want" they won't give that up and want us to be good little sheep and never wake up.

S and f....couldn't agree more.

That is the biggest problem facing us today. Take any issue and if you take the us against them, politics out of it, you can make progress. Next, take out the talking heads who are trying to divide us like those on MSNBC, Fox and talk radio. Notice that they never call out anyone in thier own political party. That's how you know you can't trust them. Make it easier for third, fourth and fifth parties to get on ballots and get elected. Make it mandatory for all presidential candidates to be at debates.

I work with a team of about 20 or so people right now. Not once during our work related discussions does someone yell..."only a democrat would print that many documents at one time.." Or. "...this reply to all debacle is clearly a republican effort to distract us from the budget cuts and lack of post it notes.." No. We just um. Work together.

That's kind of my point. Unity is pretty much a fabrication. At best it's a temporary state occurring when ideals mesh not unlike planetary alignment.

There isnt a single cause I can think of that could get everyone to "stand together." Not for very long anyway.

What about the "realization" that we are all "human" we all came in the same way (unless you were a c-section
)
And we all Die. Anything else is just people wanting to express there lives in different ways, which should not be discriminated against. If we all treated others with the same respect as "Majority" treat there children/parents (I'm talking about kindness and love not the opposite which some "Majority" embody") we might be able to make some ground....

So this would require a spokesman or woman.... That person would be assasinated.... back to the drawing board... We dont' need another John Lennon / Bob Marley
