"He rode into Jerusalem on an ass."

I couldnt help myself from laughing on that one...

I mean... lol... how can that possible count as an evidence of a man's sexual orientation?

Really? You see how ridiculous that sounds? "Oh he must be gay because he rode an ass to town"... what the hell? So if he rode a large cow with huge teats, would that make him heterosexual?

You hear some crazy crap on ATS but this will show up on the top 10 and I'm not even religious or trying to defend anything... this is just common sense and a genuine fight against stupidity.

I can't remember the book in the Bible (someone help me out) that it is clear homosexuality is not a sin. It's 17:34, 35, 36. Sorry, my memory is at a stall at this moment.

there is no stipulation or footnote that says (except if you're gay) in the passage that says "love thy neighbour"...

IF he was gay does that change the message he brought?

I predict a hail of gunfire from the Christian community in this thread... hope you brought a vest!

*dives behind a rock*

Incoming!!!

Yeah, the same kind of vest Christians have to wear around here when they post something about the Lord God almighty and His Son, the Savior of the world.

God loves you, OP. It is not too late to accept His Son as your personal Savior. There is no better time than now.

Would it still be offensive if our culture didn't have a stigma of the "Evil gay" people looming over our heads?

IF the OT didn't say "you should kill gay people" would it still be offensive to consider the possibility that Jesus was Gay?

Personally I don't find it offensive... Just as I don't find being gay offensive...

People are who they are...

Now who is misunderstand whom? I didn't say a thing about it being offensive as a result of homosexuality being offensive. Whatever each person thinks about that, in their own private thoughts IS their OWN private thoughts. It has no relation to this.

This is as offensive as suggesting The Virgin Mary was actually a prostitute and Jesus was a bastard child. I've heard and read pretty detailed things claiming that outrageous rewrite of history too and THAT is what makes it patently offensive. If there is basis ..ANY basis.. to suggest history may be in error? Fine.. That's what critical thinking and debate is all about, after all. Hashing out different thoughts and often researched opinions of events.

This reeks of trying to twist one of the most recognized and revered figures across more than ONE Religion, as it so happens, into something which nothing in history suggests he was. Seems to be a lot of that lately. Theorizing wild and outlandish things based on nothing more tangible than the day dreaming or wishful thinking of an Op....regardless of topic.

*Retroactive apologies from me as well, Akragon. If this came off more aggressive than intended ...the thread just hit me a little odd for extremes.

And yet... offensive is one thing, utterly stupid is another.

This op is utterly stupid. I can have a bit more respect for "offensive".

Obviously this post is just to stir the pot. The way you word it and sentence structure shows an attempt at trolling.

You think Jesus is gay because he loves "all men?" You do know that it actually says "all people," right?

There's a few passages within the Bible that denounces homosexuality. You can't "go forth and multiply" by being gay. It's one of the acts that really displeases God. Sex actually wasn't meant to be for pleasure. It was meant only to "multiply" and further the human species. Homosexuality is only an act to give and receive pleasure.

Many psychologists also say it drastically reduces and lowers self esteem, self confidence and self worth, like masturbation --another act that is designed for only pleasure. Furthermore, and not lastly, homosexuality (and masturbation) is a selfish act, concentrating on gratifying the self, which is one of Satan's tools he uses to disconnect people from God. Once we are disconnected from God, we are more prone to sin, which is what homosexuality is.

The selfish acts completely contradicts what Jesus' mission was about, as well as all of our Spiritual Journeys are about, and that is helping others. Living Godly in an ungodly world.

He wasn't gay, you can be 100% sure on that.

He was probably married to Mary the Magdalene but not gay.

Well, you can't go and multiply by following the example of Jesus either.

Where were his wives and children?

So a religion that uses Jesus (according to mainstream Bibles) as an example has a very weak case in saying procreation is the only purpose of life.

In fact, family, material possessions, money, marriage, procreation - the spiritually strong should leave these things behind according to Jesus.

Mark 10:21: "...Go thy way, sellest whatever thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shall have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me."

Nobody can preach about about selfishness to any group whatsoever unless they have done this and live like Jesus and His disciples.

I've still got the titters, this thread obviously belongs in the jokes and puns, or whatever it's called forum. Fecking hilarious!

No doubt but it is clear that isn't the path the OP set upon by placing it here. Funny in a third-grade American humor way, but clearly not serious in merit of discussion.

I remember in my teenage years a very stupid girl one of my friends was trying to bang told that joke but had the punchline "because he road into town on a donkey" - which was met with gales of laughter - don't think she realised it was all directed at her though
