I suspect it goes back to OSHA in terms of hours worked in a day. I believe you are not allowed to work more than 18 hours a day (not saying it does not happen, just paperwork has to be forged). They would likely be a bit lenient with emergency responders but that would be taken care of later with fines.

I wouldn't publish that number. Just me.

Technically, They published it.

Has nothing to do with them doing anything to you. It's you publishing a number that can lead to nothing but problems.

They seem to ask something about anyone doing over a number of
hours to radio in.
Maybe I'm wrong.

More a concern about "readiness" after being awake for 18 plus hours...and on edge...many of these cops are likely refusing to go off-duty. One of thier own was killed this morning...it's gotta be hard to stand down when it feels this close.

Thanks too!

Probably worried about fatigue. A lot of adrenaline has been pumping in the last 12 hrs.

They've been at this for hours, so the batteries are in need of changing on their radios.

If the mods feel the same, I'm perfectly fine with that post being edited out. I didn't really think it through; thought it might be relevant info, but you are right. Mods, If necessary, you can blank that number out.

How alert are you after going for 18hrs. Would you be trusted with a gun, after being up 18 hrs straight?

This is a day for the history books folks.
Too bad it's of the negative nature.
I informed both my children that today will be a day forever remembered, almost as much as 911.

Also, I'm happy at the civility I've seen in this thread thus far. Classy

keep it up ATS.

Exactly, you do not want people that have a means of taking a life to be tired and running on their last bit. So much can go wrong. That is why OSHA limits the number of hours people can work. But it seems really relevant in the case of police, fire, and EMT.
