I think the tank on fire was reported on the radio to be anhydrous ammonia.

Would you mind explaining what this means? thanks

Heard there was a fire earlier in the day? How was that fire started? Also heard it was put out but that it had rekindled (obviously), but how? Can someone please explain how fertilizer plants work (the basics)?

Not sure how the fire was started earlier today, but my understanding is that this type of fire has characteristics like a coal fire. It can appear to be extinguished, but the embers under the layers will remain hot and continue to burn even with minimal levels of oxygen, and once the layers above dry out they will reignite.

I have read up on the MSM sites on this event and I keep reading the phrase "it's like a warzone".

Very disturbing considering similar comments made about the events in Boston.

They are now evacuating the community center and I believe they are relocating the triage area because it has been deemed "Unsafe"...
Sounds like it's a severe cluster F*@k with responders being sent in circles and re-routed as areas are deemed "unsafe" and re-positioned.

Ammonia is an irritant and corrosive to the skin, eyes, respiratory tract and mucous membranes. Exposure to liquid or rapidly expanding gases may cause severe chemical burns and frostbite to the eyes, lungs and skin. Skin and respiratory related diseases could be aggravated by exposure.

Effects of Overexposure Eye: May cause severe irritation, eye burns or permanent eye damage. Skin: Irritation, corrosive burns, blister formation may result. Contact with liquid may produce a caustic burn and frostbite. Inhalation: Exposure may result in severe irritation and / or burns of the nose, throat and respiratory tract. It may cause bronchospasm, pulmonary edema or respiratory arrest. Extreme exposure may result in death from spasm, inflammation or edema. Brief inhalation exposure to 5,000 ppm may be fatal. Ingestion: Ingestion is unlikely since the material is a gas under normal atmospheric conditions. If ingested, it may cause burns and severe pain of the mouth, throat, esophagus and stomach or may be fatal.

Ammonia MSDS

Hope this helps.
Ammonia isn't something they want airborne.

Well from the scanner, and what others are saying, this is HUGE. Plus you have to include that toxic smoke from the fire. Entire area will have to be evacuated.

It Is possible that we live in a world that abides by a law that involves the revisiting of past events that are somehow presented in real time.

I am not opposed to that idea, if that is what you mean.

The West Fertilizer facility had an anhydrous ammonia explosion, Waco Assistant Fire Chief Don Yeager told AFP by phone. The cause was not immediately known.

It sounds like the initial explosion was an ammonia tank and the other tanks are now burning and / or detonating.
