That would not be a smart move....to intentionally antagonize someone who has already gone nutso by publicly embellishing their words in a manifesto. It puts the public and the police at more risk. I understand what you're saying, but if the LAPD did do that, it would be very stupid.

Dorner is not and never was a SEAL. There is no picture of him anywhere wearing a SEAL Trident on his uniform, and his awards are typical of anybody who has deployed to a forward area during time of war, but not seen any form of direct action. I think the OP is confused because Dorner is often referred to as an "underwater warfare specialist" and assumed this meant SEAL. Underwater warfare relates to things like sonar, torpedoes, and anything else used below the surface of the ocean. SEALs are "Naval Special Warfare Operators."

I understand your point but I have doubts that Obama would risk taking such a bold step as that at this sensitive time with all the blow-back he's getting on the subject of drones - and from all quarters, which is not really the right time - politically speaking - to be doing such a thing. Nothing to gain everything to lose.

That said I wanted to respond to the OP SUPREMERU's referencing of the Dormer quote
"I am the walking exigent circumstance."

On reading the alleged Dormer quote "I am the walking exigent circumstance you created. Chris Dorner" it brought to mind something very similar --- "I am only what you made me. I am a reflection of you. Charles Manson"

Now if Dormer is being set up then what better way to do it than for the 'authorities' to put Dormer in the same category as Manson - just a thought, but one to consider I think.

Full Manson quote:

"You made your children what they are.... These children that come at you with knives, they are your children. You taught them. I didn't teach them. I just tried to help them stand up.... You can project it back at me, but I am only what lives inside each and every one of you. My father is your system.... I am only what you made me. I am a reflection of you. ..Charles Manson

I think this whole thing was set up by the two Mexican women that got shot in the truck...

They new it would be risky but.. they new they would at least get a couple mil... and a new truck...

ha ha..

Seems they LAPD really want this guy dead if they are shooting at Mexican women delivering newspapers..

Wrong color truck... wrong make and model.... how could they get it so wrong... They are shooting to kill first

asking questions later.... Prediction... this guy Dorner .... will not be brought in alive... no matter the situation..

Yes - and the MSM - print and TV commentators - almost to a person claim that he is Navy SEAL - They used terms like "underwater demolition team member" or "expert in underwater explosive techniques" and it seemed as though they were really trying to 'stretch' the SEAL connection. (BTW - UDT transformed to SEAL) All the Fox people are saying it too. When I heard it I thought "that cannot be so." There is no evidence of that whatsoever.

I read somewhere that he was in the army, prior to service in the police.
He was, probably, in real war, he knows a lot of specifical and particular skills, related to the military topic.
Some kind of Rambo, I guess so.
I think that he is in big trouble, because, knowing from practice in USA, they are going to shoot him at first chance.
Except in case of some deal, but, in that case he will dissapeare for public, probably forever...

OTA: I just saw on KTLA.com that the LAPD stated that they would be giving the ladies that got shot a new truck.

I'm pretty sure they will be giving them a lot more than that but also started to wonder if, perhaps, they didn't want the ladies re-taking possesion of it and having them (or somebody who offers to inspect it) find illegal slugs floating around in it, you know the hollow tip or armor piercing kind. That shooting was just so over the top.
edit on 9-2-2013 by evc1shop because: Added content

The 'hollow-tip' or 'armor-piercing' ammunition is NOT illegal for police departments to use, depending on the department (they can decide depending on the circumstances they normally deal with). Actually hollow-point ammunition is preferred because police departments are concerned with a bullet going through a perps body and striking an innocent person, using hollow-points will prevent that as it mushrooms out as soon as it enters the body. Some PD's (like my son's who is a Sheriffs Deputy) has given the officers the option of carrying a magazine of armor piercing ammo as these are useful for bad guys using armored vests or if they have to fire through a vehicle to hit the bad guy.

On the subject of ammo - Won't it be interesting to know what kind of shell casings, spent ammo etc., will be found in the car of the murdered couple. I doubt very much that we will be getting a public report on those facts though. I don't see how its even going to be possible to associate Dorner with that car. Unless of course they have it on the security video which they refuse to release. Did Dorner shoot those two people? I have doubts on it - just like I have on every other aspect of the case so far. I have the same doubts here as I had on Sandy Hook...........they both smell of rotten fish.

exactly. a VERY cursory search of records doesn't show any sort of combat deployment. he went to Bahrain, and was assigned to a riverine security detachment. MSM is either wholly confused and blatantly manipulating facts (gee, can we guess which?) to try and make this guy out to be some hard-core military machine, which he is not at all. they keep hammering on the fact that he's an "expert marksman" in every article. anybody who knows about marksmanship qual's in the military knows that the navy isn't exactly at the top of the game there, outside of NSW teams.

to the poster he said he was prior service army....if he was, he'd still be entitled to wear his combat/deployment ribbons on his navy uniform, including any special qualifications (scuba, jump wings, free-fall jump wings, etc). his ribbon rack is devoid of ANYTHING that correlates to direct action. so no, he's not "some sort of Rambo"

Even Obama isn't about to commit political assassination by using his weapon of choice (the drone) on American soil as even people in his own camp is starting to think this administration is using too many drone killings, also a lot of people in law enforcement are saying they do NOT want drones used here in the American Southwest desert to "spy" on people.
The only thing Obama really has to fear is impeachment and the use of a drone strike on American soil might just open up that nightmare for him.
I really think Obama will distance himself from this whole affair as all the crud and bad press this is digging up (racial, misuse of power etc.) whether real or imagined would not go along with his "untarnished" persona he tries to portray.
Look how quickly he 'didn't really know' his pastor once he started getting bad press!

Thank you for clearing that up. I am not a gun enthusiast although I certainly agree that citizens should be allowed to have them handy for their own protection in bad situations or when confronting tyranny as our constitution has provided for.
This is why ATS is important to me, folks like you who can correct what I thought I knew without unnecessary criticism. ty

To me the manifesto read as someone deliberately trying not to incriminate the LAPD in anything major. The complaints read like something I expect every officer to have witnessed at some point. Sure it showed them violating some rights and overstepping boundaries, but this didn't read like something Serpico would say. If that guy talks for just a few moments you're like holy @#$%! Dorner's is more like well then I saw a cop put a candy bar in their pocket without paying. There is no mention of anything seriously corrupt. Hell I betcha anyone on ATS could put together a harder hitting manifesto. It seems fake to me. This gives them a reason to ramp up and act militant. If they don't find him they can do it permanently, and if they do they can point to that as a reason to stay ramped up too.

I hope he doesn't get kill and somehow gets a message as to what is really happening. This story is pretty strange in every way.

not sure if you're still confused or not as to who can carry hollow-points and who can't, but anybody can use hollow-points. there are certain types of ammo that are outlawed for civilian use, for various reasons, but I know at least in my state, anybody can carry hollow-points if they feel like shelling out the cash for them. when I carry, I ONLY carry hollow-point hydra-shoks. perfectly legal to do so, as well.

You and I, we probably did not read the same version. The one I read showed that he was clearly rattled by having his faith in a sytem of Integrity and Honor totally thrown out and a chain of appeals where the folks in "the club" get off free.
I know all the police say they are brothers and they "got each other's back" but that only works on the street once it is brother vs. brother, the dynamics shift to a position of either favoritism or protecting the status quo and his firing was the result of such.

Yes the one I read was on Fox news and it read like a bad joke. I could gripe better about any of my jobs and I don't do anything important. Like... OMFG I saw 200 apps go through here without a single credit check. It made me so mad I shot 3 people that didn't know anything about it related to you. It's ridiculous I don't believe this story.

I dont think he was framed, unless we will go as far to believe his manefesto was fake. What got me and reads clear as day is the because im BLACK mentality that is rampent in African American culture. Honestly i cant stand the mentality, i believe it is that reasoning alone which holds alot of African Americans down. It's not me, ive been "white" only by skin colour as im Irish Sicilian and American indian; im a mut. Regardless ive been white my whole life and it hasnt gotten me any of the lavish finer things that is belived by minoritys. Infact i think thats racist, and im tired of it. I see the developing culture as a perversion of reality what is strong like taking care of your family, going to work, being legitiment, not lieing, cheating, stealing is seen as weak. Methods of cowardice manipulation, blind selfishness ,and degradation of women is seen as strong. Having three babys mama's no father and the mentality that the white man is holding us down, is insantity it is a cop out it is weak. Do i not experince adversity? do i not experince racism? Should i then not triumph over adversity? should i lay down and use manipulation, and illegal power grabs to get what i want? Should i make those around me feel weak so i can feel strong? Granted there was a time, when African Americans did indeed experince institutional racism and slavery. There also was a time when my heritage and quite frankly all heritages experinced the same. Strife is not a personalized problem geard at a certain group but rather a obstacle shaping and molding humanity to become stronger and idealy closer together. You see we do have a common enemy, but it dosen't exist outside in some foreign culture or land it exists inside each and everyone of us. It's our job to crush our negative instincts and triumph over our selfishness. I feel the developing culture is one of ignorance and cowardice and i hear it everytime a young African American says," It's because im black".

Murder is never the answer.
But thats easy for me to say from where i sit.
I havent had everything i worked for taken from me for trying to do the right thing.
I dont agree with what this guy is doing, but the LAPD has proven time and again how corrupt they truly are.
Look at the police response, do you think they would respond like this to any of us being threatened?
Look at the reaction of some of these cops, two vehicles have been fired upon without taking a single second to verify who was in the vehicle.
Both times they were wrong.
Dorner is not a hero. But i am not worried about him, hes not after citizens.
I'll show the same concern for the LAPD that they seem to show for the populace.
I do hope this ends soon and i hope the LAPD is investigated to the full extent, this guys life is forfeit so if there is a truth to be told, it needs to get out.
