i was just reading a thread on enlightenment...and how a member here thinks he achieved it

then i started wondering about the psy-ops invloved in achieving this
i heard horror stories about monks and their ordeals in reaching enilghtenment.

BUT WHAT IS IT??

in one sentance, i want your perspective on what enlightenment means

i gaurantee, the percpectives will be completely unique and individual

i will start...
btw my opinion came to me recently......

"enlightenment is when a person shares the soul of the sun, in ancient ideology, a divine ruler"

so my theory is that it cant be achieved...so what have the monks been working on lol

love to see your perspective....dont be shy

peace

One sentence?

The realization that all things end.

My definition of enlightenment: the realization that, despite external influences, my happiness depends solely on my perception.

Ergo, change your perception to change your circumstances.

I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.

I know it lateralus, but that is how I feel! You see we are all connected:]

What's with all the hateful stuff you've been posting lately? Sounds like you need serious therapy.

Enlightenment is the only word needed. Anyone proclaiming enlightenment is not, though is on the path towards it. Most people get stuck and discontinue their flow of life they were achieving and stick in that cycle. It is only delusion and ego tripping but a strong minded and grounded person will get out of it and learn from it.

...Nice. I've been noticing that a lot of what's been posted on this thread is just a lot of clumsy ways of saying the same thing. Yours pretty much cut to the heart of it.

Enlightenment is when one is free from all self insecurities.

Know thy self...

Enlightenment is realizing you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing.

Not my words, they come from this site:kylepharper.com...

But hearing it put this way, really speaks to me.

Well clearly, the video in this OP will help.

Not ....

The problem with enlightenment is that it probably takes many steps to become prepared to accept whatever enlightenment brings when it arrives. And as some have suggested, it probably never arrives in full. Something like learning to play a musical instrument. When can one play the instrument properly? With more playing and practice, we get better and better, able to do more and understand more (hopefully).

So, enlightenment could take many lifetimes and much discovery but ultimately, it should reveal just how this whole Universe (and even beyond) works, who/what invented the rules of its existence, why it exists, what our role is in this vast experiment, etc etc.

Simply put in that one-sentence requirement - What is this reality that we perceive, all about?

For sure it is not easy to explain from our Earth-bound views.

I think therefore i am.

Cogito ergo sum.

Je pense, donc je suis.

Sums it up for me. Or at least gives us the ability to understand enlightenment.

Enlightenment is being aware of the true depths of your personal ignorance and wanting to do something about that.

Enlightenment is simply understanding something deeper than the norm on a spiritual level.

At least that is what it means to me.

It would not be having a signature that says: 142 IQ Come at me Bro.

It is about understanding the way everything fits. Reverence for the all, and not just the one. Seeking love and unloading the lower animal feelings. Being humble.

Enlightenment is being aware of "what is" and having that knowledge be correct and not an opinion. Enlightenment is knowing and being right.

There is no right or wrong in the enlightened state. It is what it is as it is with no opposite.
Non duality. Oneness.
