Video games obviously cause people to turn violent. I mean, look back over 100 years ago at the wild wild west. They were killing eachother all the time and also played Call of Duty.....

Then there's Alexander the Great. Playing conquering games on his computer obviously made him want to take over the world....

It's about time! Every since I played Mario Brothers I've had overwhelming urges to collect gold coins, eat mushrooms, and bang my head into brick walls. I want to sue Nintendo.

You know that makes a lot of sense... because when I look outside I still see horses pooing out on public walkways, and drunks firing their arms into the air.

Wait a tic, no I don't.

Oh right, you present a false comparison...because there have been far too many things which have changed in the world in the last hundred years for it to have any such validity.

My bad.

ALL contain violence..........

This is a which hunt.

and lest we not forget, the bible. The bible is choke full of graphic descriptions of violence and sex.

Ezekiel 23:20
She lusted after lovers with genitals as large as a donkey's and emissions like those of a horse.

DT 28:53 "You will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the Lord your God has given you."

2KI 6:29 "So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, 'Give up your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden him."

GE 38:9 "... whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked ..., so the Lord put him to death."

Dump money into this but no call to assess the link between SSRIs and their effect on the people who are taking them? Gotta love our government; demonize the guns, ignore the cause, and get paid by the pharmaceutical lobby to keep pushing the lie.

Big Oil, Big Business, Big Guns; all have nothing on the Big Pharma industry...

Maybe you should brush up on the word facetious, as that was what the poster was presenting. It was highlighting that people conquered, people killed, people were violent all before video games. It is a cynical analogy that rings true.

There has to be a connection, because if there wasn`t then similar techniques that they use in "brainwashing" wouldn`t be so successful.
To believe that there is no connection, either on a conscious or subconscious level, would just be ignorant.

So why does their have to be a connection? Why did people murder prior to the early 70's when there were no video games (especially in the capacity that we see today)? Why did people utilize a gun prior to then if there has to be a connection?

You are hoping there is one to confirm a completely different delusion that we are all under some grand brain-washing scheme in my opinion.

10 Million dollars wasted. It's digital versions of cowboys and indians...and games are rated like movies, kids can't buy those games, parents have to for them. I am for smart regulations, but this is situation where games developers have done everything needed for parents to step up and be parents.

"I have a 12-year-old and he likes to play all those games and they're all rated 'mature'," said Karen Weathington, a mother of five children, including three boys.

Weathington notices a change in their behavior when they play certain games.

"When they play fight and wrestle, it's the mocking of slicing someone or with a gun. As a parent, it kind of concerned me, should I take the games away?" said Weathington.

www.fox47news.com...

WOW...this POed me!! The games are rated...Does she also buy pornography for her son? effen unqualified to be a parent.

I have a buddy that plays GTA for hours on end...using a flame thrower to light up cops etc...he also "live traps" mice in house to release them outside....catches house spiders and lets them go outside...literally wouldn't hurt a fly. Anecdotal, I know, but this seems a study aimed at placating parents...then again it is a "study" and i expect the results will show what everyone knows already...

BTW - How does the CDC plan on conducting the study?

Obama up there talking about violent video games, but has no problem with US Army recruiters handing out their AA3 video game to kids in schools. Here kids try out our video game where it's fun to KILL! They've been doing it since 2002. If they want to find the root cause of these problems they only need to look in a mirror. They don't care about those shootings at all. It's all about power and money once they have a taste of it they're like hungry vampires that need more more blood. They'll do anything, sign anything, say anything whatever fits the moment. Obama using kids up there at the podium while he signs away all our rights is just sickening and everyone claps to it yaaay Obama thank you for turning us all into slaves! Hip hip hooray hip hip hooray Hail Hitler.

thats not a logical line of reasoning
using that line of reasoning i can say that birds flying into the engine of a jet before it crashes had no connection to the jet crashing because jets crash even if there are no birds around, and planes crashed before jets were even invented.

If constantly being exposed to video game violence has no adverse effects on a person then the same should hold true to constantly being exposed to real violence such as a soldier in a war. All the violence and killing would have no adverse effect on him, either consciously or subconsciously.
The only thing that would have an adverse effect on him is his own mortality and possibility of death.

How about people with a history of alcohol abuse owning CARS!

There are a 'Sandy Hook's' worth of people(27 on average) killed every day due to drunk driving.

Wouldn't it make sense to concentrate on something that kills more people than guns???

Reminds me the other day while driving when I almost got sideswiped by another car. Some guy decided he would change lanes without looking in his blind spot and as I got along side him he was talking on his cell phone and 2 cars ahead of him is a police car that knows nothing of the incident. LOL crazy world we live in.

Guys I have to disagree here
i'm no fan of Obama, everyone knows that

But violent games to affect society
A study has already been done and people do become a little violent after games, I read the report on Psyorg.

I play FPS games myself, i'm on call of duty black ops II right now all the time on multiplayer
It's a game where you just shoot people all the time

Now what if someone took drugs and is often under the influence?
Combine drugs and shoot em up games, people can lose touch with reality

Even music, aggressive content can make stealing and shooting people cool.

Does that mean I want govt. to ban these things?
No I don't, unfortunately society is full of lazy parents.

So with the current society I see no solutions

just saying...

People are not to blame for Hollywood and the media taking advantage of mans base instinct that has existed since man existed. We eat the violence up because it is in our nature to. They profit from it knowing full well that we can not help ourselves. If everyone really wants that peaceful existence we need to stop feeding the base instinct for violence that is ingrained in all men, it exists simply because we needed it for survival. They do not HAVE to take advantage of the fact simply for profit.

OK think of it like this. Does a Movie make you go out and kill a person? Can a movie pick up a Gun and shoot a person itself? A PERSON has a BRAIN and has to put thought to ACTION. A THought can not pull a Trigger a HAND doing the trigger pulling action does. HUmans CAN help themselves or we would not have a CIVILIZATION. Its because of these wonderful Brains we can tell right from wrong. No sir you are wrong and are just trying to push off the blame onto someone else. Each person is judged according to their OWN ACTIONS NO MATTER THE INFLUENCE.
