My friend KilgoreTrout and Flavian.
Thank you both for your comments and liking the pictures.

Harbin, China is mostly kn own for the Festival of Ice, made from blocks of ice or snow from our city.
Harbin also is known for Harbin Beer.
During WWII the Japanese had captured and over ran my Province of Heilongjing, my parents were part of the Chinese residence then.

I must say, I am Soooooo amazed by the pictures of the cities and country pictures of the UK, OH, Such Beautiful cities and waterfalls and Greenery.
Thank you for the pictures of places I have not seen.

Here are pictures of a Rustic, Old ski resort in my city. It is frequented ( use ) by locals and hard core Russians and Europeans, Why, I think it is the Age and Rural area and the Beauty.
You need to be aware, No indoor Bathrooms, out side bathrooms, Shower and Steam-room.
Great Food and Very, very nice People, Great bar next to Large Open Pit Fire Place.

Yes, there are fire places in your room, You would Freeze to death without one

Sorry, I can not find our inside pictures of the our room or the main room and restaurant from our stay there in 1980.
Here is the piano concert park across the street from our old apartment.

Please, Please, I'd like to see more pictures of the UK, I want our next vacation to be in the UK traveling.

More Pics from the Smokies

Waterfall

I used to do this all the time. I'd hike up to a rock outcropping and spend hours, just sitting and thinking. (This is not a picture of me)

Whitetail deer leaping the fence in Cades Cove. A very common sight.

And another common sight, people feeding bears. What they don't realize is that fed bears become nuisance bears and are destroyed.

I love threads like this.

I was born in Lisbon, in a street with late XIX century buildings, like this one

and early XX century buildings like this.

In 1970 my family moved to Almada.

In the photo above we can see, in the top left, the parish of Cacilhas, the oldest part of town, where, some years ago, some Roman fish-salting tanks were found near the river, while some 300 metres inland they found some Phoenician and Egyptian jewels and artefacts.

On the top right we can see at least one warship in the Alfeite naval base. Just below the ship there's a blue block-like building: that's the municipal theatre, some 200 metres from where I live.

There's a small castle in the oldest part of town, but it's not open to the public, as it's being used by the National Republic Guard, a paramilitary police force. The castle has been subjected to many changes during the years, and the original XII century castle was destroyed by the Moors. Now it looks like this.

A 10 minutes drive to the west leads to a 20km long beach, where some fishermen still fish in the same way they have done it for centuries.

I like Phoenix, except in the Summer months, July through August.
I could never, ever live in Harbin, China in the winter months again, To Cold
for me now. I don't know how my parents still live there, My husband has offered to do the paper work for visitor's visa's for them, put they do not wish to leave.

I do like Phoenix, it is a easy city to navigate around.
I do miss some of the resorts and restaurants we used to frequent:

Great Thread, Smyleegrl. S&F

Well, I live "just over the mountain" from Smyleegrl's hometown. Here are some fantastic pics I happen to have on hand...

This is the view from the top of the hill behind my house:

This is a picture I took on my way home from work one morning just about a mile from me:
