So bloody true.

Just a matter of time. I'd bet within 50 years Australia will be the new Chinese homeland.

To hell with China.

This is indeed big news! Thanks for posting.

I am not surprised at all the dollar has been on life support and borrowed time for quite a while this is just the first of the dominoes... The sad thing is that though they are trying to avoid the fallout from the dollar collapse their own currencies will soon follow for they are built on the exact same debt based inflation money from nothing principles...

The fools claiming it won't collapse because it hasn't yet despite the warnings need some math lessons...

This doesn't look good for the Euro as well. It's just a matter of time until the US bails on the dollar and adopts the Sheqel!

Hardly.. Unless of course those Aircraft carriers are an American retaliatory force coming to deal with "those"', traitrous Australian people...lol

China is a good business partner to have and It is a smart move to make in the current climate. Most of the major manifacturing, mining and timber operations being run in Australia are Chinese owned, so I highly doubt they would do anything to hurt those industries.

They don't need the land and they are already mining the rsources here. Business makes more wealth than taking a country completely, which would cost them more to run than they could make otherwise.

The US had made itss own bed, time to lay in it.

Sorry I don't see this happening, it came from the chamber of commerce in Shanghai. people there always speak garbage to impress the Chinese locals and gov, and this came from a ANZ (banker) who only cares about bank profits.
I used to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce in South China, but gave it up after seeing the sheer bulls*&ting and ego parades that takes place at every meeting.
ANZ are really trying to cash in on China, they are looking for every opportunity to make profit, remember that.
It would be the ultimate fall on the sword if Gillard made such a decision persuaded by Aus bankers and Chinese.

So what is the problem with this, If Australia and China want to trade with each other why should the USD even be involved.
Nothing wrong about cutting out the middle man.

Thers nothing America can do about it now anyway because China is to strong to go to war with, not like when they went to war with Iraq because Saddam nolonger wanted to trade in the USD.

I don't understand.

Is it just my own stupidity, but why the hell would Australia and China in ANY trade deals be trading in US dollars to begin with? Isn't that the reason for foreign exchanges? To be able to change one currency for another currency? Why was there a need to include a third currency into that mix between two nations currencies?

In the future all trades should be like this. No third currency should be exchanged or forced to exchange... What a joke.

When America destroyed its economy with the Vietnam War, they had to scrap the Bretton Woods system they installed after WW2 because nations were trading in their US dollars for gold since the world had lost faith in America. So Nixon just tells the world that they cant. Says the gold window is closed.
His treasury secretary says that the "the dollar is our currency, but your problem".... Well thanks alot America. So what America did then was bully/bribe nations like Suadi Arabia to only sell oil in USD. Now the world had to buy USD to buy oil. The petrodollar system ensured demand for US dollars and allowed the United States to continue living well beyond their means at the expense of the rest of the world.

The only reason America has been able to run up a 16 trillion dollar National Debt is because of demand of the US dollar.

America killed Saddam because he tried to sell Iraqs oil in the Euro. But America has lost its power. America is a joke, its just that nobody has told the Americans yet. Everyone was afraid of America once. Now the entire UN voted against it. America caused a GFC. America has bad credit. America cant bomb the entire world. No country will be bullied by America from now on. America will continue to be a punchline from here on out. America has peaked. America is on the down swing.

This is the greatest transfer of wealth in human history.

Can you imagine how much gold China has in order for that country to release
their Yuan hedged to it? Soon Canada will dump their USD hedge, and
eventually, China will need as much petroleum as the America's
can offer them for their new consumer nation. They have all of those
homes crumbling and waiting to be renovated.

If you've ever read Red Sorghum, the Japanese brutally forced their citizens to build
their highway along their sorghum fields. I can imagine that the United States
is using their FEMA Camp citizens to build their new America or ship them
over seas.

Just like the Romans.

Doesn't the foreign exchange system use the USD as a floating medium for conversion globally?

Several countries are doing this, everyone is trying to distance themselves from the US Dollar, because their days of being the global reserve currency are numbered.

enjoy your new partner

Ya, you keep on saying that, but know the more you print, the less your currency becomes. Countries are buying less of your debt (which is why the FED had to step in and buy your bonds, at a rate of 45 billion a month starting in Jan) - I believe the US Dollar would be worthless already if it wasn't for the Petrol Dollar.

Will be interesting to watch how other nations try to distance themselves to the US Dollar, and watch how fast things fall apart once more people realize that in reality the US is bankrupt and the mad dash to sell as much US assets as they can.

--------------------

Now I should clarify that one would be smart to stay away from the Chinese as well. They have massive financial problems as well, one might as they are worse off then the US.

America forces nations to use US dollars through various methods.

Take South America for example. America tried to force a 'Trade Agreement' on them a while ago that included forcing them to use US dollars. Chavez and his friends in the socialist coalition of nations in South America told Obama to stick it. They made their own agreement and have created their own currency to use amongst themselves so they dont have to use USdollars. Its called the SUCRE. Its a digital currency at this stage.

But Americas biggest headache is the BRICS nations. They have been trading amongst themselves without the use of the USD for some time now in their efforts to unseat the USD as Reserve Currency. These nations are the new heavy hitters. Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa. They have even formed their own bank together in an attempt to expose the IMF and World Bank for the tools of Imperialism that they are.

The whole world is moving away from America.

As an Australian I thank god that this countrty is moving in the right direction. Australia is still afraid of America but this shows that we are starting to grow a set. The worst thing about Australia right now is that it is 'friends' with America. I think this is the start of a more fair and equal relationship between America and Australia. Its great news.

IDK much about foreign exchange, but dont we exchange directly with the Yen, the Euro and the Pound? Wouldnt it make sense to add the Yuan as China is becoming our most important trade partner?
