That isn't what is happening there. What is happening is that the Earth and the Sun lined up with the Galactic equator. That happens every year.

It's 12:02 p.m. here in NYC, and nothing out of the ordinary is going on.

Yes, but according to Tolec it will be different this year.
The Earth will be transformed at its core due to black hole emissions.
