Idiot people at the beach. You'd think between Thailand and Japan that people would have enough sense to get away from the shorelines!

For sure. They should fight one another to the death at the grocery stores in panic mode before ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENS

i think they have told the first wave would hit at 10:30
for obvious precaution reasons

maybe the real time is around 10:45 or 11:00
it actualy clever to tell a earlier time to people

Anyone able to update expected landfall?

I'm curious, but the internet here has been a piece of crap for like a month, it goes through periods of high speed(what I pay for.) Then it goes through periods of complete black out(cable, phone and net,) and like it is right now. SLOW AS DIAL UP!!!!

That does not really fit with the depopulation agenda does it?

Seems we all want to have our cake and well, eat it too.

One main scientific dude is talking about having to wait and watch and that they are monitoring things every 15 sec and will do so for at least 5-6 hours and he's gonna update in 10 minutes.Saying waves will be between 3-7 feet.I lnow that's not much but that's what I currently have via the livestream.

Oh noes, 3 foot waves? They better head for the hills fast and prepare for the apocalypse.

Wow, this is the strangest friggin' day! KInda hard not to make jokes about the 2012 thing...

We are having this freak snowstorm, that brought down trees everywhere in the night, half the country has no electricity, (ours just came back on). The wind is blowing heavy snow fall so bad, I don't think we'll have current much longer!

A big ferry is quickly sinking off our coast, the US east coast is in the middle of a big tropical strom, no?

And then I see this... too much!

This morning when I woke up every thing looked so weird, and strange stuff was happening. My leg suddenly had a wound open up and it started POURING blood, filling my shoe. It was so surrealist I said, I must be dreaming! I am not awake! So I ran to the light switch to do the light switch test- and got nothing (of course there was no current).

It freaked me out though.

A tsunami is not measured by height as far as destruction,it's more the length and how far inland it travels.

Less than half that in a surge situation can take an adult off their feet. It's not a wave, it's a surge that keeps coming.

I'd rather feel foolish hiding on a hill than dead in the water.

Better safe than sorry especially in such unpredictable conditions.

the thing that scares me the most with this alert
is that if there is no tsunami after this mass alert
if there is a real one .. people will remember this false alert
but will care less to evacuate this time and more people will get affected and killed
thats why i hope that there is at least a few waves not to big
so people know that alerts like this are very real and have accurate warnings

A 3ft tsunami surge is different than a typical wave. There is enough energy in a wave as low as 3ft from a tsunami to sweep cars off the street.

These people mocking 3ft waves are always the ones who die in stupid ways.

Another one (4.3) just off the southern tip of Haida Gwaii.

Well some people here are reporting surges, boats being on the ground, but it actually sounds like a non-event. I don't think there will be a wave here.
