The earth is warming. However, Mars is warming, Venus is warming, all of the planets are warming. Is man responsible for all of it? The sun is warming the planets. We have some, miniscule, effect. The sun is doing way more than we ever could. Man is not THE problem. Put down the koolaid.

Thank heavens you came along to say it so I did not have to. Scientific studies are a great thing, but I often wonder what these same scientists are going to say when we swing back into a cooling cycle and just how it's our fault for that too or if they will say it's just normal to have these warming/cooling cycles.

Stop farting. The dinosaurs went extinct because of all the farts! Kill all animals! They fart! Earth has gone through warming and cooling for billions of years before man ever discovered how to use fire and it will continue to do so. There is nothing we can do about it but maybe slow it down by a few years. That said, i don't like pollution any more than the scientists and politicians that are making billions from it, but global warming would be happening even if man did not exist.

The earth is warming due to natural causes, however mankind does have an effect on the warming as well and may some day be the deciding factor that pushes the warming over the edge.

kind of caught my eye when i read this article today. who's data do you believe? this entire subject has become nothing more than corporate and political driven so there really is no way to know what's going on.

It's actually called climate change. It has happened since the earth was formed. It will continue well after man is gone.

So you think that the scientists actually have an accurate crystal ball and actually know that we are the cause. Seriously, They can't even give us an accurate weather forcast from day to day. And people really believe they can predict long term, and know exactly what causes it. Welcome to OZ.

If denying man made global warming is nothing more than GOP propaganda, how do you explain the FACT that cap and trade legislation (regarding CO2 emissions) was rejected by a Democrat controlled Senate?

How long will this myth persist?

1. All the predictions that have been made for the time period up to the present have failed to happen. The sea has not risen umpteen kilometers; hurricanes have not increased in either size or frequency; the polar ice caps have not disappeared.
   
   
2. The carbon dioxide absorption spectrum is not aligned with the black-body radiation frequency of the earth. It lies just below the radiation frequency, so when the planet tends to cool, carbon dioxide acts as a greenhouse gas and opposes the trend. When the planet tends to warm, carbon dioxide acts less as a greenhouse gas and opposes the trend.
   
   
3. All the reports indicating a warming trend are either from the IPCC or can be traced back to the IPCC. Translation: none of this is peer-reviewed.
   
   
4. The IPCC will not release details of its computer models for review.
   
   
5. Leaks from the IPCC are indicative (admittedly with minimal context due to the fact these are leaks) of a political rather than a scientific agenda.
   
   
6. There are numerous instances of improper placement and calibration of the sensors used to determine global climate trends. Not the least of these is the fact that one of the most-mentioned CO2 monitoring facilities is located atop an active volcano.
   
   
7. There are numerous accusations of scientists who disagree with the theory being denied grant money and exposure.

But ignore all that scientific stuff. A bunch of politically-biased web sites say it, so it must be true, right? Right?

It's also a fact that I don't care about Global Warming as I believe that it is a natural progression of things.

The Earth has been down this road before and the cycle will repeat itself.

There is nothing that can be done to stop it. Solar, Wind, Sea and other bio-tech that can supposedly reverse this cause all sorts of pollutents to be released into our enviroment just by the act of making these components.

The only real "Green" energy comes from nature, which does provide the means of energy. Like a water wheel in a river...but if that river drys up, then what?

Even the scientific community have stopped referring to Global Warming because it's becoming quite embarrassing.

They now refer to Climate Change.

Most all of the warming/cooling data is based on so called "statistics". The problem with statistics Was well defined by the statement "If you torture the data long enough it will confess to anything". Who actually made the statement is is debated, but I think it defines the usefulness of data quite well.

A post above stated that all the planets are warming, not just earth. I know some people think cow farts and Hummers are a huge part of the problem; however they just don't have that far a reach.

As to all the planets warming, I read somewhere that there are two possible causes. One is increased cosmic radiation from outer space and the other is a shift in the spectral make up of the suns energy output. I don't know which one, if either, is right but if all the planets are warming it simply cannot be something we on earth are doing.

There was also another study done by drilling cores in the polar ice and studying the relationship to warming trends of CO2 content in the atmosphere. In opposition to current thinking they found that CO2 levels rose after the warming and not before. That turns current thinking upside down.

No not all the planets are cooling like Uranus. However im sure you still choose to belief what you want to...

Global Warming is NO MYTH. Its just misunderstood. Is humanity's pollution helping, no? Are we the only reason the Earth is warming, no? Both sides of the argument can live is co-existence as long as we all agree that the weather is going to change, the planet it going to change, and we need to do what we can to decrease its impact on current civilization.

You really need to do some critical analysis; that is, look at all angles of an issue, before taking such a final and unwarranted position.

Even the holy (to the AGW faithful) IPCC will do no more than to say AGW is more likely than not, and that the basis for such an assertion is that "we don't really know what is causing it (warming), so it must be us."

Still more sobering, people were just now coming to grips with the implications of a fact that scientists had known for decades — the climate system has built-in time lags.
