Great. way make sure Obama get reelected. Nice work.

Not sure what you're complaining about, you can easily go out there and campaign for Romney. But I know you won't.

Nice work, or lack thereof.

So you're denying the FACT that voting for a 3d party ensures an Obama win?

Vote your conscience. It's your vote. You're welcome to waste it as you see fit. Shoot, the ballots will be counted in Spain anyway, was never like this was going to be a fair election.

lmao.

I know for a FACT Obama will win my state, California no matter who I vote for.

Now, its your turn. If you believe in Romney or passionately want to get Obama out of office, will you donate to the Romney campaign and go make phone calls and walk precincts for him? Will you have flyers in your trunk so you can put them in windshields of every car in every parking lot you visit? Will you wear a Romney shirt everyday? Will you put a Romney bumper sticker on your car?

If you are not doing these things, you shouldn't be complaining about how other people vote. Change starts from within.

STOP COMPLAINING, START DOING.

Thanks for this thread. Having now taken a breather after supporting Ron Paul in the primary season this has helped turn my attention to Johnson/Gray and the Libertarian ticket which I now state has my vote and firm support.

Until the thread started I had not taken a good look at this team and now realize I have been impressed with VP pick Judge James P. Gray for some time now and not realizing he was on this ticket. Much thanks for that awakening. Anyone not familiar with this California Superior Court judge and his ongoing efforts as an anti-Drug War warrior could view a number of videos on YouTube featuring Gray.

I've met Jim Gray and Gary Johnson before. I think Jim Gray is VERY smart, where Gary Johnson lacks the experience and knowledge, Gray picks up on. It really is a balanced team when you think about it, and it just literally came to me while writing this post.

Gary Johnson is an idiot. Not for his politics, but for the fact that he thinks he has a chance of winning. All he is doing is steering votes away from Romney and the result will be a second term for the socialist-in-chief. Do you think Obama will be President in 2014? 2015? Nope - he'll be supreme dictator by then. Bet me. Someone bet me. With real money.

If he does get elected, I am going to make a LOT of money with a product I am bringing to market. Then I'll be moving out of the country.

I'll bet money on it. Why? Because the President isn't a dictator. How do I know?

Because you're free to spread lies, stupidity, and ignorance about the President of the United States without getting your tongue cut out.

Enjoy freedom you ungrateful woman!

As much as I despise him, GW Bush I credit with helping me gain my financial freedom and retiring early, in another country, by his being so transparent.

We need to keep trying with the third-party teams, eventually hoping they make the big leagues. Don't blame Johnson for the GOP selecting a weak candidate. Romney has about as much appeal as a greasy dish rag, which is not Gary's fault.

That's what everybody said when he ran for governor in a liberal state, but what happened?
You sound like one of those weak minded people who just give up and whine about how life isn't fair, without even attempting anything.

I'll reply to you and the two before you. It's a numbers game. It has nothing to do with whether you think that I have a vagina or that you make baseless accusations concerning my mental acuity. Johnson will siphon votes from Republicans and conservative-leaning independents, while socialist/democrats will blindly vote party line.

So would I rather have a greasy Republican dishrag in the white house rather than a socialist who intends to finish the job of destroying this country? You bet your goddamn ass I would.

I'd rather have another at-bat next inning rather than having the game called on account of communism.

By the way, New Mexico is not a liberal state. It is split pretty evenly. If you break it down by county, It's almost entirely red except for Santa Fe and Taos. I wonder why that is...

By the way, weak argument with the ineffective name-calling and character assassination. Typical.

We did try the third-party in a way with Ron Paul. He certainly is not a Republican even in a loose sense of the term and everyone knows that. Gary Johnson is a second-string player and it is the super bowl. Hardly a time to "keep trying". A chance at a third-party victory will be evident in primary season. Otherwise it is a waste of a vote.

Wow, talk about thread drift there for a while. The truth of the matter is that if you have a dozen Libertarians and ask them all what kind of government they favor, you'll get twelve different answers.

For those who would like to know more about Gary Johnson, here is a wonderful video he made of his climb up Mt. Everest back a few years ago; also be sure to read the excellent piece written on him last year by GQ; I've been supporting GJ since he first announced (and he was the first Republican candidate to announce and even that didn't get him in the debates, although Bachmann; unannounced, Trump and Cain were all invited at first; that should tell you the extent of his blacklisting). He managed to get in two debates, both Fox, and CNN refused to allow him in and kept changing the goalposts for inclusion; the man never expected, nor should he have, that he would be excluded from a seat at the table with a successful two term governorship behind him. The truth of the matter is Romney was a done deal from the git-go. And, as Johnson now says, 'if everyone 'wastes' their vote on me, I'll be the next president.' What was done to this good, honest candidate was criminal, not to mention the fact that he's only been able to raise a few million because of the media blackout, while between Romney and Obama, there's been about one BILLION dollars raised. This is obscene. Well, on to the videos and reading:

I will not vote the way YOU want. I will vote the way I want.

I do not care if the guy that YOU want does not win.

I do not care if the guy YOU do not want wins.

I want my guy to win, so I will vote for him.

GET IT, GOT IT, GOOD

Go Johnson!

for a candidate to be eligible for a write in, the candidate must:
file paper work with the election athority in your state or your vote wont be counted.

i'm not sure how to find out which write in candidates are running/eligible.

Not to mention this nation was founded on taxes, involuntary military servitude, slavery, and women were lesser beings...very un-"your definition of" libertarian. Ohhh, and a state controlled post office.

So which party ended slavery then? Surely it had to have been your dear democrats, right?

The 13th Amendment to abolish slavery was voted for by 100% of the Republicans in congress and by 23% of the Democrats in congress. Not one Democrat either in the House or the Senate voted for the 14th amendment declaring that former slaves were full citizens of the state in which they lived and were therefore entitled to all the rights and privileges of any other citizen in that state. Not a single one of the 56 Democrats in Congress voted for the 15th amendment that granted explicit voting rights to black Americans.

By the way, this country was not founded on anything you just mentioned, it was founded on liberty and freedom, which is why you can read all about that in the constitution, which probably happens to be your most despised document ever written.

You're VERY wrong. This country was founded on slavery. Besides it being an economic foundation of the southern state's existence, slavery was written directly into the Constitution, providing representation partly based on the number of slaves. For someone who evidently doesn't know what's in the Constitution, you sure want to tell other people what they must think of it.

In addition, the original voting rights were only for property-owning free men.

As for your bringing up the fact that more Republicans than Democrats supported the abolition of slavery, ANYBODY whoever actually studied and knows his/her American history, knows that the two primary parties have evolved over time. Yes, Lincoln and the Republicans came out of the collapse of the Whig party, and were for abolition. However, the economic policies of FDR during the Depression significantly changed affiliation of the two parties. This change became even more stark in 1964 with the creating of the Civil Rights act. The Dixiecrats, who were all politicians from the south, went over to the Republican party because the Democratic party pushed through this legislation. So the racist Democrats, or Democrats that relied on racist southern whites for their votes, switched to the Republican party.

To bring up the fact that it was the Republicans who abolished slavery in 1864, and claim in 2012 that the currnt Democratic should feel responsible for dragging its feet regarding abolition is either ignorant or specious. You choose.

I tried "lesser-evil" voting once before and was satisfied with the outcome. That was for Bill Clinton over Bush Sr. and was the only time my selection actually won the election - registered Libertarian and voted Ron Paul in '88 but that didn't stop Bush's New World Odor vision from emerging. I can't even feel "neutral" about Romney, he just makes me cringe. As bad as Obama appears to be Romney leaves me feeling very uneasy. The entire thrust of his campaign seems to be based on his not being Obama and that is just not enough

With such repugnant mainstream alternatives what it comes down to then, my vote to waste and better I waste it on someone who shares my ideals than someone who is opposed to those things I deem important, regardless of their chance of winning. Gary Johnson is somewhat of a newcomer to me yet I feel I know enough about his character and make up to give him a chance, and his running mate Jim Gray has been on my radar for years and has my approval. If everyone wastes their vote on Johnson/Gray, they win!

Really, I didn't realize America revolted against Britain because of slavery. Can you show me where in the declaration of independence slavery was mentioned as a reason why they wanted to be free from Britain?
