Japan maybe one of the USA's allies, But the USA is Israel's meat shield. I don't think they would get the same support as Israel would.

Any tangible examples or are we just expressing an opinion here?

If there is a war between China and Japan it will probably to keep china quiet/busy while the USA are bombing the # out of Iran.

AND....

There you have it Folks. Somebody has somehow interjected IRAN into the topic...

Just opinion from observations. Its all any of us have.

Why so rude?

You don't think it is possible that a war with one country could bring another into the conflict? or that one side considering military action against another would weigh up the chances of others getting involved chances?

I'd go as far as saying, north and south Korea will start going at each other if violence erupts.

It's actually a good tactic. Fight your enemies while their allies are preoccupied.

I believe it would be an economic warfare and China would use this as an excuse to break economic ties with Japan for the sake of its social stability and safety but the question is why?

China is Japan's largest trading partner both import and export but China while import most from Japan, its exports aren't that good compare to US and European countries. China has a huge market, rising technology as well growing military while Japan has aging population, high debt, facing stiff competitions and so forth.

In other words, Japan needs China more than China needs Japan.

China would simply push Japan out and allow local and Western companies to fill in the large gap. Volkswagen, General Motors, Peugeot, Ford, Hyundai as well local like BYD would increase their presence in China streets. Eastman Kodak could even make a miracle comeback in China while Leica would jump in as well with Canon and Nikon out of sight. Samsung, LG, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Haier and Huawei would expand without Sony, Sharp and Toshiba.

China do not need to go to war, simply choose another supplier but Japan would lose their largest income.

It's your fault to start with, the island is under the treaty you made with China ...

China is using this as a "catapult" to "oust" you out of Asia. If I were you, I'd start packing, because sooner or later this is going to "escalate" to "US doesn't honor it's treaties" scenario.

China has altered it's laws ... Chinese citizens outside, that have residence in the west. Will need a visa to visit their home in the future.

They're preparing for war, against the West. Japan, is just the start.

Again, the question is why.

China won't do anything because if they dare to move then they will have...

Japan - Taiwan - South Korea - India US & NATO to deal with which would be absolute suicide

Its pretty much just a stunt until China has a much much much much much much much much much better everything & military, until then there just all talk no trousers, always have been always will

This is true, but Chinese labour isn't as cheap as it used to be.

Japan could help themselves here too, by basing their companies in places like Thailand.

Not necessarily true.

Japan had survived well without China for decades. It was only because of cheap labour that drove Japanese companies there. But chinese labour costs had risen, and thus, japan needs not China, and can go elsewhere, back to asia and america, or new stable states in growing africa.

But China will have lost a huge investor for their 1.3 billion waiting for employment. China offers no innovation and is often guilty of cutting corner toxic products. With its rise in labour costs and often striking workers, the West is considering already moving their operations out of China.

And now, with maoist mob rule allowed and even sanctioned by the State, western companies would be thinking twice of staying on in China and watch their investments go up in smoke one day, as the japanese did.

With no investments, and mankind wary of made in china products, can China survive? Yes it still can - 1950s style regression of a society and 1.3 billion mouths to feed.

Irresponsibilities to international rule of law in our shared world comes with a price.

Japan isn't bankrupt over Fukishima provide proof lol.. their one of the richest countries in the world

After Japan shut down all her nuclear reactors she had no power. Japan's brought a couple reactors back on line but she's barely getting by. Japan can't be one of the richest countries in the world when their biggest struggle is keeping their cities lights on.

They've been held back from ever being able to survive. Which is why they just signed that new trade deal with China.

This will not escalate into to a conflict. China has two big problems at home. First the growing upper and middle classes want more freedoms and the massive part of the population that is still dirt poor want a piece of the pie that China has. This will help distract them for awhile. A war with Japan would bring in the US and most of Asia already nervous that they might be next. The Chinese navy and airforce would cease to exist and China's see lanes would be blocked. China has nothing to gain and everything to lose in a war.

When it comes down to it, if china is going to hit japan, they will hit america at the same time. they know what attacking japan will do.

If an attack happens on japan, look for a north Korea invation on south korea, with the assistance of china, look for attacks on pacific islands held by America, important for their air bases. Look for a possible EMP attack over the mainland of japan and western america bring America to its knees.

the united states has a treaty with japan obligating america to come to its aid militarily in case of any attack to territories under its control.

the islands it recently purchased would qualify.

if china attacks japan, and japan declares war, america will be at war with china.

On the money. It wont escalate into open warfare deliberately as its not in the leaderships interests.

Nationalist fervour is a useful distraction in the short term from the divisions and power struggles/corruption scandals happening in the higher echelons of the ruling party.

I'm sure we'll find some kind of excuse to get into it. We're infamous for sticking our nose in other peoples business.

Do not need an excuse, papers have been signed. To declare war against Japan is to declare war to the US.

It depends on who wins in the power struggle for power within the CCP govt, between the democrats and commie maoists.

In 1936, Chang Kai Shek 'disappeared' from public for a few months. Later, it was discovered that he had been abducted by the commie party to make him toe the commie line to fight the japanese, when Chiang, upon hindsight, believed that the commies were a greater threat than Japan could ever be.

Today, history repeats itself. Xi jingpin, touted as the next ruler of China and head of the armed forces, 'disappeared' for a time. Seems modus operandi of the Maoists. What actually happened? None knows. Only time will reveal.

If the democrats win, there won't be war. They are pratical and know economics, feeding the 1.3 billion citizens is more important. But if the commies win, war will happen for sure. They care not for human lives. To them, idealogy is paramount, ( so too the priviledges of power and wealth that comes to the top few) and human lives are mere canon fodder.

Sad that our fellow human brothers and sisters in China had not woken up and played yet again by the devil Mao....

It hasn't worked either. It worked in WW11 but not anymore. All it is doing is digging us more into debt as a country.

Yes, as a country. But the goal of making people like Dick Cheney or companies like Lockheed wealthy has been achieved.
