not condoning any horrible behaviour, but the 15 min. trailer i just watched is truly offensive, and was made to be that way!
why do something like this knowing it will cause such an outcry?
who funded this? how did such a piece of hate inspired crap even get released?
imagine if a film like this was put out about asians,or blacks,or even whites! do you not think it would cause an outrage?
the film is an absolute joke, and it cost $5 million to make!!!!!
i could make a better movie with my cell phone!
the film was made for one purpose only, and it did it's job well!

Thank you 'X' for backing this up with fact and links - it's 'breaking' here in Italy too, but your work saved me mine. I owe you cookies.

Do you have any projections what the result of this 'act' will be? I'm interested as always in your opinion.

peace

They need to pull their heads out of their asses or we can do it for them. If the goal is to get the US out of the region attacking US personnel, including diplomatic staff now, will not do it.

The chicken has come home to roost.

Elaborate. Didn't "liberal" westerners encourage this "change " in egypt through social media?
Why are they in war mode? (egypt military)

I said it in the other thread, I will say it again. That is called "Blowback".

The US / Europe / NATO helped create a Sharia state there. Now they get what they called for.

edit on 12-9-2012 by ALF88 because: (no reason given)

Im agreeing that its blowback.

The CIA is the problem.

It doesnt matter what nations government is being overthrown, we always have the CIA involved. They have been doing it since WW2. Look at what they tried in Cuba. look at what they did in Chile. They are still doing it. This is why you get people throwing shoes at Hillary Clintons car and chanting "monica" when she visits Egypt.

I know Americans wont believe that the CIA does this stuff but they do. The CIA messes with politics in Europe and all across the world. It seems that Baby Boomers are complete idiots or they just didnt care but the new breed does care.

The CIA is the problem. Americans let the CIA do what it wants. The rest of the world is sick of it.

While this is not directed at me I would like to answer (my view, im not answering / speaking for the person you asked the question to).

When we discuss Middle East Issues on this site there is a, blurp for lack of a better word, that always shows up on the radar.

There seems to be a mindset that people in the Middle East cannot think for themselves. Anytime Arabs go against their own governments its viewed as being incited by outsiders. There is no credit given to the Arabs for taking a stand and wanting change. Instead they are attacked and accused of working for Israel / US / West / NATO, which then takes the conversation into those entities coupled with speculation.

I point this out to prove a minor point, in that they always accuse the same groups of countries. They ignore ARAB countries who are involved in those same actions they condemn the west for, they also ignore China and Russia, who supported the action in Libya. Before people try and argue that point look at the offical vote.

If Arabs rise up against their government and demand freedom they are labeled terrorists / traitors and MUST be working for the west because apprently no loyal Arab would go aginst their government.

If Arabs rise up against their government and demand freedom they MUST be incited by the west because no loyal arab would challenge their government on their own.

If Arabs rise up against their government and hold their own, they MUST be getting help from the west.

Its sad how Arabs are labeled and viewed by certain groups within that realm. Apparently, in their views (not directed at the posters here) Arabs are to stupid to do anything for themselves, let alone determine their own futures.

Wow this movie looks stupid

But that gives no right to KILL people. Stop giving excuses to Muslims in the mid-east. If they bombed the embassy because of us bombing them then it would be understandable. But they did it over a movie.

But then again, the US/UN supported the rebels, who were Islamists...so what did we expect?

If this is an excuse to go to war, its sad indeed.

There is no justification for the attacks, but I would also say no justification for America to retaliate with their heavy handed tactics they so love.

I just wonder, if this was an Spanish ambassador that got killed, would Spain declare war on them? I think not..

It surely seems that way. Considering the current state of things in the Middle East the film comes across as an intentional slant to incite anger. Especially in regards to the time frame of said film coming to light.

Libyans did get help from the west though, via drone attacks.

The US carried out its first drone strike on Libya on Saturday, the Pentagon said. Heavy fighting is taking place in Misrata after Moamer Kadhafi’s regime gave its army an ultimatum to win back the besieged port city.

Aside from my personal opinion I already posted on the first page I dont. I would not even begin to speculate as to what the offical Us response is going to be. First and foremost and investigation should be conducted to ensure this was a "legitimate attack" and not something else (legitimate used in this context means the attacks are what they are and not something else / someone else pulling strings).

The lead investigation should be conducted by the Libyan government and US authorities should be allowed to follow the investigation as well as be allowed access to evidence and testimony. I make this statement because in the past where we have been cut out of investigations the "suspects" "confessed" and were executed before US authorities could do anything, essentially sweeping stuff under the carpet.

The Libyan Government should be taken to task for failing to protect our Embassy. I am going to reserve protection for the staff until we find out for sure how their deaths occured. Fox just reported the Ambassador and several styaf members attempted to leave Benghazi in vehicles to get to a safer location. I dont know if Libyan security / military were notified of the move / present during the move or if the Ambassador decided to leave without them.

While Marines / Us military is responsible for Embassy security the Ambassador should be protected by DSS (Diplomatic Security Services - US). The Ambassador though is in overall "command" of the Embassy and what they do.

** President Obama released a statement - The Ambassador and 4 American diplomatic staff members were killed **

It's kinda funny really!

Our own leaders forcibly remove the secular leaders of these countries, accounting for untold death and destruction in doing so, and hand the places over to the radical Islamic nutjobs we are supposed to be fighting a "war on terror" with. Under those previous secular leaders, the Islamic hardliners were kept in check, so the rise in violence is directly attributable to our own governments.
At some point I guess they'll have to launch wars against those they have put in power, for being radical Muslims...round and round it goes, the banks and arms manufacturers getting richer, and people dying everywhere! What a crazy effed up world we have let them create!

Case in point and a perfect example (assuming your post is meant as sarcasm, which I am not taking it as such but let me know).

Why America?

Why is there absolutely no credit going to Arabs?

My immediate thoughts are prayers for the families of those killed.

I find it hard to believe that a movie would would be the primary reason for this chaos. IMO, there is more to this than just a movie.. But now that this incident has happened, there is basically two options..

War or diplomacy?

And here come the ATS Atheist defenders of Islam.

You brilliant minds do realize these people were rioting over a movie made by an Egyptian, right? Why do folks like you feel the need to defend Islam, when you claim to be against religion?

seriously, what did you expect to happen???

i don't believe in god in the traditional sense, and i would definitely NOT kill for any god!
what has happened was wrong, all over the board.
but isn't this the false flag that everyone on ats is talking about?
it is on every news channel now!

This video is immature and sickening. The complete disregard for this religion is ...wow. This is what you get when people with no brain are given a video camera. I have no other words to describe it other than ignorant.

What has America done for Libya other than turn their country upside down?

I'm saddened by the ambassador's death but don't you dare act like the people of Libya owe a damn thing to America. For all we know it could have been the American supported Al-Ciada that did this attack. We all know that non Libyans are fighting a civil war in Libya at this very moment.

This could be a similar tactic as the FSA firing shells into Lebanon. These people have a major hard on for ME destabilization.

That is the funniest attempt at a movie I have ever seen!!

So this movie comes out, muslims get mad and kill an ambassador a country away from where the movie was released. This is a BIG step back for western/middle eastern relations..

The US should consider pulling out troops/ambassadors or seriously stepping up security around all assets in the entire middle east.
