hi guys, just letting you know that my father who is a petroleum engineer/geothermal fracking guy, says he's just been told there have been 500 plus earthquakes in california in last three days and he was telling me he doesnt think it looks good.

he has no idea of any of these threads on ats or any of the psychic predictions, but when i told him he said you probably dont need to be a psychic to realise california could go into the sea, with the san andreas fault so close. he said he wouldnt live there.

personally i would get out of cali asap if you are there. i would be leaving Sydney too or getting an evac plan in place. the wave from such an event would be massive and i agree it would probably hit eastern australia imo.

if a quake hits cali at 4pm in arvo (was that the time on the psychic prediction/dream?) then will it hit australia at about 8.30 in morning perhaps?

anyway... he's getting his news i think via the petroleum engineer grapevine... they have noticed because they do geothermal work in the area and its an unusually large number of quakes occuring right now.

just giving you guys the inside word in case something is up.

better that i pass it on just incase a big one is on the way.

Well, I hope you are wrong. Like you, I would rather tell it and it not happen than sit there afterwards wishing you had. It might come to nothing...but better safe than sorry.

The reason was this event, a localized eathquake swarm, which has now slowed down, and aparently is a 40 year something recurring event in that area.

It's not like Cali is going to slip in to the ocean in the next coming month.

According to a seismologist there's no need to worry: "What we're seeing is a classic Brawley seismic swarm,'' USGS seismologist Lucy Jones told City News Service. "We haven't seen one of these since the 1970s, and there was another one back in the 1930s.''
"These don't seem to be related to earthquakes on the San Andreas itself, other than in a general way,'' she said. "It's pretty far away.'' Jones says she expected the quake swarm "to continue to bubble along, they're going to get a bunch of 4s and 5s.''

yeah so do i. i'm not really predicting anything btw, just passing on what i was told about the high number of quakes at the moment.

probably and hopefully it will turn out to be nothing; or maybe just a medium probably normalish quake for cali.

on the other hand; can't say nothing about it just incase.

yes i already know fracking can trigger quakes. they are usually mag 3 or thereabouts though and they know when the fracking has done it; usually.

highly unlikely the massive number of quakes at mo in cali is due to fracking. it's just that the fracking guys have noticed it because it's very relevant to what they do... it's probably halting their operations temporarily maybe i dont know... would have to ask my father that.

Anyways, I've lost track of how many earthquake predictions we have this month alone. My advice to people is be responsible. Have plenty of water, food, flashlights, fire extinguishers, full gas tank in car, etc.

yep, well hopefully its just a swarm. like i said im not making any prediction of something big; just passing on the info about the large no of quakes. hopefully will turn out to be nothing as per in the past.

i still wouldnt live in cali though but that's just me. i'm earthquake paranoid...

A lot of these small earthquakes that have been happening in the last few days have been around Brawley, CA; in Brawley there has been a lot of (fracking) going on; this (fracking) may be the cause of these small quakes.

Instead of psychologically coping with Earthquakes that have yet to happen, why not get prepared, pray, meditate, and eat vegan?

Funny you should say that, I noticed the going theme around here especially is that even when you say something and nothing happens, you still get blasted for it...like it's your fault it didn't happen.

Honestly lets hope it doesn't....just think of the hit the porn industry would take...we'd have to find new talent!

Swarms in CALI
Swarms in El Salvador
and this morning Virgin Islands swarming like a mofo.
Check EQ3d last 24-36 hours.
Notice anything. It is abnormally quiet around the ring of fire except the aforementioned locations.
I have been watching this for over 3 years every morning!
Watching the mid Atlantic ridge move, Arctic and Antarctic quakes Only this year!!!
Quakes are moving inside plate boundary's,migrating west to east in North America.
#load of Quakes in Canada unreported!
I got a real bad feeling about the Virgin Islands location. Just a statistical hunch, but check Google Earth.
Do you see the ridge/shelf just above Puerto Rico.
Imagine a tsunami coming outta that area.

look at the Kentucky/Tennessee area.
North American Array
You have to look at various other EQ sites to get a bigger picture of what the hell is going on!
Something is rising out of the Fiji location. Check the last 3 years of quakes in the Fiji area. The Depth is insane 300-500 km deep?????? The mantle is only 70km at its thickest.
I don't think you need a degree in geology to know statistically something is up.

I wouldn't say California is going to slip into the ocean, that is speculation. I'll admit that all those quakes look suspicious and that something could be brewing but it's no reason to panic and leave your home. From the evidence it could be volcanic activity picking up and it might mean there could be an increase in earth movement happening shortly. None of this has to be deadly. It could just be a swarm of quakes that will do no harm. People in California are used to these quakes, I don't think they will feel at home without them. I understand your concern OP but I would never leave because of this swarm if I lived in California. I do not live in California though and would never live there because I don't like when the earth shakes myself. It gives me a queezy feeling when the mines blast around here and shake things up, I wouldn't want to live in a place where it was always happening. Not my cup of tea.

Calm down... I shared my thought as you ... no need to provoke...

I wish people would stop coming to threads based on fact, and saying "stop spreading fear"...

You mean "stop spreading truth"??

This swarm is real and we as "regulars" aren't privy to the "why" so I think skepticism is very healthy in this matter.
