That wouldn't surprise me in the least. Keep a sharp eye on that man if he gets re-elected. There is something very sinister going on behind the scenes. He pushed the transparency angle a little too loudly. Makes me think he's actually doing the opposite while those worshipping at his feet actually think he's open and honest. BS.

I think I have a worthy compromise, we, the US pulls out of the un and kicks the organization off of our soil and they can provide their own troops!
I see a win/win here.

Without the US supporting these blood-money fatcats, there would be no UN. Read the Book of Revelations in the Holy Bible to see what happens next. What's happening now is in there too.

The entire way human beings govern one another right now is absolute bull scat. I don't know what the hell is wrong with people but we are far too evolved, technologically advanced and accessible to natural resources that any single living person on this planet should have to go any point in time without access to free basic needs. I don't know why people can't just open their stupid eyes and see reality for what it is. This planet is so insignificant, and even though we humans seem to think we're the be all end all, we can't even come over thousand year old hurdles. I'm starting to think we were all meant to die off from apathy.

A few OTHER nations can carry the world's water for awhile. The United States has MORE than done it's share of the heavy financial lifting for quite some time in terms of the United Nations and that pack of idiots.

Source

How about China pay their 'Fair Share'. They seem awfully light on contributions, eh? Considering they're economically sitting FAR better than we are for Debt/GDP and economic power as things stand in 2012.

I don't really care who they want to go ask....but if they didn't get the Memo, we're 16 trillion past the point we'd be called flat broke. Sorry... ain't got money left to give.

(in fact... reducing the current money spent would sound real good to me right now)

I love your re butte , I would love to also see a source on this. I am curious what taxes we pay currently, that go towards the UN. Thank you!

Wow.. Not that I agree with global taxes, but..

I don't think you Americans need to get so wound up over this.. Are you completely oblivious to the cost of the "externalities" that your country's development has placed on the rest of the world over the past century?

You need to get past this socialism-bad / capitalism-good dichotomy. We need a hybrid system which would not only right the disparities in the capitalist system, but enable the whole of humanity and not only 1% of the global population to enjoy an abundant life.

Rather get indignant what little amount of your tax money is being used to uplift our spaceship earth for all of humanity in comparison to bailouts, ridiculous military spending and meaningless patent lawsuits.

Your lifestyle is lived on credit taken from your children.. All of Gaia's children.

I sometimes wish the UN could actually come up with a good idea every once in a while. Humans do not effect climate. So this tax is 100% bogus.

Dude, time to change your beliefs again, I know it is difficult

Take your pick.

Two Cow Politics

Socialism : You have two cows. You keep one and give one
to your neighbor.

Communism : You have two cows. The government takes them
Both and provides you with milk.

Fascism : You have two cows. The government takes them and
sells you the milk.

Bureaucracy : You have two cows. The government takes them
Both, shoots one, milks the other, pays you for the milk, and
Then pours it down the drain.

Capitalism : You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

Corporate: You have two cows. You sell one, force the other to
produce the milk of four cows and then act surprised
When it drops dead.

Democracy : You have two cows. The government taxes you
To the point that you must sell them both in order to
support a man in a in a foreign country who has only one cow

All of the above?

Nice one, no BS?

Your story of the cows in the capitalist camp glanced over the part where another man has to start out with no cows because the two cows you have you inherited from your uncle who took them from said man.. an externality is a bitch.

The point is, no pure system is perfect. I honestly don't believe we will look back in a 100 years to capitalism and be able to say: That was the ultimate system our species could come up with.. It did get some points right though..

Personally I feel carbon (or social - in this case? ) taxes are the wrong route to take, but capitalism lacks the principle of TRUE COST.

Go google that GOP fanclub. Unfortunately taxes is the only mechanism our rulers could come up with that can fix past wrongdoings.

I will however propose a tax base that could easily cover this small expense the UN is proposing:

£13tn hoard hidden from taxman by global elite

It's not just about middleclass americans needing to pick up this tab.

I just can't resist noting here that 10 years ago, you would have been looked at like a radical tin foil hat type to suggest the UN would levy any form of global tax, too. It's been a loooong 10 years, eh?

It's been a long standing fact that many...if not most Nations in the UN body do not pay their Annual Dues...

the UN is mostly funded by the USA (and probably rightly so, as the USA uses the UN as a soap box instead of limiting its propaganda to mediums like RadioFree Europe)

you get what you pay for

If the UN needs more funds... then let them send out notices of "Late Payment DUE" to all those slackard nations
and charge interest on the debt-> no new taxes

either you will consent, else it will be taken without your consent or knowledge. that much is obvious.

It has been 15 long years since Infowars host first warned me that the UN was taking over all of our national parks. Yeah, it has been a long 15 years.

I give a 1 finger salute to this idea. If memory serves, they tried this proposal back in 03 on a global scale. You already have DC sending out money everywhere just to have a say in what these countries are doing.
""In a resolution, the Republican National Committee made clear its objection to “three global taxes and a global monetary governance mechanism to raise $400 billion a year to aid developing countries.""

Washington Times

YUP!!!!! Guess what???? You got it! It's called SOCIALISM. Get used to it!

Obama has signed into law, tax cuts....jesus, can't anybody look at the actual laws, and tell the truth? this is something so easy to check, a kid in elementary school can go on his computer and find it.

I'm seeing the word 'socialism' used a lot so far, but very little regarding 'means of production' and 'social ownership'.

I'm wondering whether these taxes will be 'processed' as 'development aid' monies, which in turn will be used to buy products and services from ostensibly American firms. If this is the case, then it's anything but socialism. It's American tax dollars being used to fill the coffers of already wealthy American firms.

It also gets more American 'pieces' on the 3rd World Game Board, a game board which has seen a lot of Chinese play over the last decade, particularly Africa. China has the world's second largest GDP and is the largest exporter of goods and the second largest importer of goods. China is eager to get a lot of Africa &c on-board as trading/development partners.

It seems to me like the American tax payer is being used to prevent an emerging 'Chinese state-sponsored capitalism' completely over-taking the American economy in the kind of league tables that America could never forgive itself for if it couldn't boast USA! USA! USA! USA! over. All this without tax-paying Americans getting the direct benefit of extra jobs, &c.

If you invade other countries then its only right you should have to pay for it. If you invade iraq, syria etc for war or oil then you must be prepared to pay those countries, each country should be left to its own matters without america and russia and the idiot david cameron getting involved. dont have a go at me for speaking the truth, have a go at your government that takes control wherever it likes without caring of the consequences to you lot, if youre government really cared about you ciggarettes and alcohol would be illegal. The only thing i disagree on is paying tax on a country whos own leader has brought them into chaos. I live in the UK where we happily shell out billions on foreign aid and global stocks n shares...yet we struggle to get jobs and pay our mortgages, im sure if our government was keeping them billions within our country id be in a good job right now

Wont happen? Why, because it is entirely voluntary and cannot be imposed and therefore it will not be imposed unless it is a popular move domestically, which it is not.

As for those equating this to welfare for the thrid world, that is rather laughable. Funding operations in order to ensure that many developing countries have the adquate resources to feed the starving dosen't equate to welfare, but rather humanitarianism.
