A picture of Nick Cage, the first vampire.

Seriously though...this is pretty awesome. I wonder if it has any prophetic writings or anything of the sort? Maybe a declaration that seemed ridiculous at the time, but has since come true.

It could even be a boat!

guessing the folk of the village were pretty bored 100 years ago.

they had a get together , all wrote letters about themselves and thought people 100years later would be really impressed when they read them. the mayor collected them all and sealed them in a bit of brown paper.

how wrong they were. bet the never guessed a load of conspiracy nuts on an obscure website would start trolling them as soon as the letters were opened.

Only thing that intrigues me is: Why did he choose the year, 2012?

The package was bestowed on the town in 1912 , 100 years is a nice round number so that takes us to 2012 .
I'm interested to see whats in there but doubt it will be anything Earthshaking

Yes.
If you google 100 year old time capsule opened, you get a long list of them. It seems that a century was the time period that was popular for scheduling time capsule opening when they were sealed.

I am of Norse descent, which with a few things I am aware of, there might possibly be a link between the Maya and the Norse. However, doubtfully it is like anything any of you will think of. Not in an arrogance way; it's just a little....complicated, lol.

I realize that 2012 is 100 years from 1912; however he could have picked any number of years. With all the '2012' stuff, it just intrigued me to see that it was specifically requested for that year. I only hope he wasn't just trolling everybody so that he could get a good laugh from beyond the grave. However, if there was anything groundbreaking in it, I'm sure they would swap it with something less...shattering.

My guess is a wrapped relic or book. Perhaps a compiling of papers or stories. Something of that nature. I can't wait to hear about what it is. It is rather exciting...and an aggravating wait!

What time will this be in the Midwestern USA?

It would be funny if it was-
i. Dated incorrectly and should have said 1912
ii. A mix up with his envelops and only realising after receiving a letter from the tax office back in September 1912 requesting his late tax returns and why have they been sent newspaper clippings/letters instead.
iii. Containing another envelop saying "Don't open until 2112"

It would be scary if it was-
i. An alarm clock that started to count down
ii. Some white powder
iii. A print out of the entire ATS thread - Alleged NASA -Affiliated Astronomer Deciphers 'Intelligence' Signal From Nearby Stars

It would be freaky if it was-
i. An iphone
ii. Photos from Mars
iii. Ticket stubs from a Madonna concert

It would be likely (IMO) if it was-
i. Something regarding the Olympics
ii. Letters & news clippings of that time
iii. His memoirs

Great thread btw...

I bet it's a prophecy about Anders Breivik, but the person who left it made a mistake and wrote 2012 instead of 2011 lol.

I believe that town celebrated 300 years when it was written, so I think that explains it.
